Robocop (2014) – EM-208 Figures by Hiya Toys

Posted on January 10, 2020 at 1:32 pm by Joe Moore under Robocop Toy News

Hiya Robocop 2014 EM 208

Hiya Toys has unveiled their next addition to their growing Robocop 3.75″ scale figure line up. Previously, they have done standard and battle damaged versions of Robocop from the three original films. Today they have revealed that they will also be producing figures based on the reboot from 2014. Their first figure from that license is EM-208, the OmniCorp drones from the film. After the jump, you can check out the first preview image. We will update as more info is revealed.

Of the 2014 movie? Yes, as far as I know.

These are nice. The movie was just okay but I'd like to have 4 of these. Give us a 2014 ED-209 and the original 1987 ED-209.

    Cain........please

Super weird choice to me, I guess some of you guys are interested but I don't know anyone else even talking about the remake.

These guys are okay if you're looking for semi-expensive generic army-builder robots. They can skip figures of the 2014 RoboCop, however. That dude sucked.

No desire for these, but it is 2 figures for $30.

Hiya's face sculpts have often been more on the eh side, especially compared to what Hasbro has been doing with the face printing tech. So I think it's smart to focus on so many characters where they can play to their strengths of intricacy & detail. This robocop and the EM-208 figures look really good, i hope the articulation is as good as it could be. I think they can take advantage of the robot bodies to insert more clever joints. I'll def pick up the EM-208s as they'll be good generic robo-minions.

I just don't see the reasoning for making these. Maybe if they'd made them back when the movie came out? Or released them closer to the new Robocop Returns movie so there was some interest! As it stands though I can't see these selling very well

My only thought was maybe it's a cheap license and to get something out there for their brand since they're still kind of newish.

Robocop is still a recognizable name. I wish these figures were in the 6 to 7 inch range but then that wouldn't be Hiya. It would certainly help the detail.

    Now to rant

For this film why did they think going to the all black suit was the smart play?
His first suit should have been the black with silver/chrome being the upgrade. What were the filmmakers obligated not to use the chrome design for the bulk of the film?

Then the human hand........why? I could get behind there being more of his body left. In the original film even his face is a recreation or just a flesh mask. It would have been fine if he wore a glove at least.

They actually removed, for some reason, the explanation for his bare hand. Originally, it was supposed to be against the law in US for robots to carry guns. To get around this, for the new Robocop program, they kept his one hand a human hand as a loop hole.

The black suit was supposed to be the edgy cool look the studio wanted.

It was probably redundant to explain since Murphy himself is the loophole anyway. Again I had no problem with him keeping the hand but just that it's his bare hand. A black glove would have been more then enough for me. Its just this peach colored hand against all black.

But yeah studios. Oh yeah let's take this visually distinct look and make it ALL Black. Yep that's the Robocop we all know.

So these bad boys are $19.99 for well articulated, well designed, well sculpted and well painted with accessories while the Super7 Robocop 5 POA POS figures are $18.00?

This why I don't understand Super7 and never will.
