In Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla and Mothra team up to take on both Rodan and King Ghidorah. SPOILERS. Skip to the next paragraph to avoid details on the final battle from the film. In the climax of the film, multiple Titans are awakened, and begin a converging on the battle grounds where Godzilla is facing off against King Ghidorah. With Godzilla badly hurt, Mothra sacrifices herself to protect her fallen ally. With Mothra’s power transferred to him, Godzilla glows bright red, melting everything around him. He unleashes an incredibly powerful thermonuclear blast from his body that finally defeats Ghidorah, just as the remaining Titans show up and bow to their new King.
NECA has released a repaint of their Godzilla 2019 figure in the colors of the new Burning Godzilla. The figure is a Target Exclusive, which is also listed on Target.com. It’s priced at $23.99 and has begun to show up in stores. Our friends at NECA have sent over the figure for us to check out. You can see my review and photos after the jump.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Godzilla Version 3 “Burning Godzilla” by NECA Toys
- Fantastic new color scheme
- Good sculpt
- Solid articulation
The new Burning Godzilla is packed in a flapped window box. The packaging features the same design and style as all releases from King of the Monsters. The front features an image of Burning Godzilla, while the back has some images of the figure itself. The figure sits on a plastic tray, and can be placed back in for storage. No accessories are included.
The figure is pretty much exactly the same as the Godzilla 2019 Figure released earlier this year. I shared a photo gallery of that figure back in May. The sculpt and articulation are pretty much identical. So the figure itself is super solid and looks fantastic from a sculpt point of view. However, this time, the figure is cast in a semi-translucent red plastic that is fully painted up in reds, oranges and yellows to emulate the final battle from the film. There are spots of black wash as well, which brings out the details nicely. Overall, the paint scheme is the main draw here, and it’s outstanding looking in hand. The colors are bright and vibrant, and the translucent areas look great when light hits it. Joints are solid, with no brittle feeling, or any paint locking issues.
The Burning Godzilla is a great addition to the King of the Monsters line up. The outstanding color scheme looks sharp, and the figure itself doesn’t suffer fro mthe clear plastic or the heavy paint application. Check out a selection of images below, and the full gallery after that.
