NECA Giant Monsters All-Out Attack Atomic Blast Godzilla Reissue with New Packaging

Posted on October 18, 2019 at 1:17 pm by Joe Moore under Godzilla Toy News

Atomic Blast Godzilla Reissue 004

NECA is re-releasing their Atomic Blast Godzilla figure from Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. The 12″ head-to-tail figure has all new flapped window box packaging. As with the original release, the figure includes and an Atomic Blast effects piece. No word on when it will hit retail. Check out the new packaging photos after the jump.

NECA continues to celebrate the most famous kaiju of all time! This version of the beloved monster is based on Godzilla’s “Atomic Blast” attack in the 2001 movie Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, a spectacular battle between Godzilla and some of his most famous foes.

The figure stands over 6″ tall, with a head-to-tail measurement of over 12″ long. It features a removable Atomic Blast effect, all new paint deco, and over 30 points of articulation, including an articulated tail.

They ought to sell the buildings in the background. I'd think they'd make more money in the long run enhancing their products instead of a remaking of every figure they put out with a new paint scheme.

The building in the back are just printed paper glued onto cardboard.

Repaints are an essential part of every toy line. The ability to reuse parts or repaint a figure allows for costs to be spread out over multiple releases.

I get that, it's a standard practice. I just like the displays more than the figures in this line lately.

I agree with Universe. I think they could make alot of money with some building designs and diorama pieces like the pillars for the Predator / Alien Dios.
I am not really liking the legs and feet on this, it looks very much like a team mascot outfit. I don't have one yet though and have really been eyeing a Godzilla figure to pick up. I like this idea but I feel that the effects and paint are less appealing under full light.
I like the fact that they reproduce stuff though, I think it gives then the chance to get little things corrected (like the door on city predators wrist device) and I feel like it gives people the chance to get the items. It leaves less room for scalpers to jack prices up.
The original paint version is already up to $44 on Amazon. I like it better but may have to settle for this one.

Will they ever get into the old King Kong design for this line (I don't know if they have those rights or not)?

They can only do Godzilla. They don't have the rights to King Kong, and Toho won't license them the other Kaiju to be released.

Does this thing light up? Or is that all really bright paintwork on Godzilla's chest?

Bright blue paint, likely with targeted blue lighting in the building photos. But it's a pretty saturated blue. Here's a shot from Toy Fair:

Oh cool, was this shown before? I wonder how it looks with the atomic blast removed. I like having atomic breath but I don't know how I feel about the paint job on him. I have managed to jam some of the SH Monsterarts blast effects in NECA Godzilla mouths before.

Love NECA's repaints, it's always worth passing on their first releases for the more 'artsy' and imaginative second/third versions. Too bad I don't care for this particular Godzilla, it looks fun.

Yeah, I use the Tamashii Effects pieces in all my NECA Godzilla shoots. Will be nice to have an official NECA piece though.

I don't blame you, that is a nice piece the explosion makes the shot though

I'm hoping to get this. I didn't like the green wash on the original release, and it looks like they gave this one more accurate paint for the skin.

Plus, the blue paint to simulate the atomic glow, and the atomic breath piece itself, will probably make it a real eye-catcher.

I agree but as someone brought up before I wonder how it will look without the breath. May look odd. Then again I think it will be ok with the back blue too. Hard to say until it is in hand.

Cool idea for a figure variation. Love those photos Joe with the atomic blast effects and buildings. Wish Neca did make accessory sets with things like that. All the Tamashii building sets I see online are way too expensive and it'd be cool to have a domestic option.

Why NECA why? I bought the regular release a few weeks ago and I love him. But I wished so bad he had an atomic effect. And out of nowhere comes this. Damn oh well. It will look bad but at least I can make one with hot glue.

I wouldn't say this came out of nowhere. This was originally shown off in February and a release officially announced in May.

    YES!
A new box for a figure I bought three years ago.
And it has pictures of Kaiju on it that NECA will never make, too!

Wait. THAT's the version they are putting in that box? Well screw that shit. I was going to get it since I thought it was going to be the original version, not that one. I don't want that version.
