Star Wars: A New Hope – Jawa and EG-6 Power Droid 1/6 Scale Figure Set
The Star Wars galaxy is vast and filled with numerous alien species and droids. Today Hot Toys is delighted to further broaden its Star Wars 1/6th scale collectibles series by introducing the Jawa and EG-6 Power Droid collectible set based on the characters’ appearances in Star Wars: A New Hope!
Jawas are meter-tall humanoids completely hidden behind rough, hand-woven robes. Their faces are concealed within the dark folds of a cowl, from which peer their sickly glowing yellow eyes. They comb the deserts of Tatooine in search of discarded scrap and wayward mechanicals, incapacitate droids and drag them to their treaded fortress-homes, immense sand-scarred vehicles known as sandcrawlers, and sell their hastily refurbished junk to moisture farmers who are hard-pressed to find a better selection elsewhere.
Little more than walking batteries, power droids trundle along as directed by their owners or their programming, recharging vehicles and machinery. They are often called “Gonk” droids in imitation of their simple vocalizations. There are many different models of power droid, and are common sights throughout the galaxy but little noticed despite their critical importance to both military and civilian life.
Meticulously created based on the appearance of the two characters in the movie, the 1/6th scale Jawa collectible figure features newly developed head with LED lights, skillfully tailored costume, variety of accessories, and a sand-themed figure base. The EG-6 Power Droid is finely crafted with detailed mechanical body with weathering effects, and also comes with a sand-themed figure base.

Star Wars: A New Hope - Jawa and Power Droid Set by Hot Toys

My friend and I are HUGE Gonk/Power droid fans. This has been one of our most long awaited releases, instant buy.
But what will be under the hood?
Glad it's getting a release but wish it was a 3 pack of Jawas and the droid. You always need more than 1 Jawa.
Happy to finally get that power droid, but I wish they were still doing the one in Kenner colors shown at SDCC 3 years ago. The extra colors in it made it really show off the nice detailing. The one they are offering looks kind of bland by comparison in its single greyish-blue color. Plus it had different sculpted detail on the front and those cool little radar dishes. I really hope they can eventually offer this much superior version if the first one sells well (maybe as an exclusive?)

Might just climb back into 1:6 StarWars figures for this guy. minor nitpick- I do wish they made a left hand that could actually hold the barrel of the blaster.
2 responses - sorry, was an accident
I think they had another Jawa and the R5D4 at the SDCC 19 Maybe they are doing a 2 pack of those figures as well?
Dang, $267? I knew it'd prob be around $250 but this just seems kinda steep.
That's why I order them thru BBTS now, since it doesn't require a down payment and I can cancel at any time before it ships if I change my mind. Plus BBTS has much cheaper shipping than Sideshow.
Sideshow has a rewards program that's not too terrible. I just picked up a Dungeon Master statue for free using points. That's about thr only reason to go directly through sudeshow.
What an odd pairing. Much more natural imo would have been a couple of jawas with slight differences, e.g. one a little taller than the other, and different hands for grasping the blaster rifle or other things. I'm surprised that anybody gives a darn about the power droid. It just goes to show how different things stand out for different people.
I might try to snag a jawa by itself in the after market, especially if it comes in a separate box.
I miss the days when you could get a 1/6 figure for under $150. This seems like a lot for a figure a little taller than Yoda and a plastic box with legs.
I'm going to wait until release and see what I can get for an eBay coupon or something like that, or last resort just order from Sideshow since every SW figure sits in stock there. I'm in California so I get sales tax and shipping double whammy, so I avoid it if possible.
I don't know why the Leia set, while still pricey, seems like such a better deal. I guess it seems like a lot more effort put into the Ewok than Jawa.
Yeah, this is a hard sell since Sideshow already released a nice pair of Jawas just 3 or 4 years ago and the Hot Toys Jawa doesn't look like much of an improvement. I wish the Power Droid was sold separately for a better price because I don't really want another Jawa. If Hot Toys plans to offer their other Jawa paired with their R5-D4, then that will be a super easy pass for me since I'm quite satisfied with the Sideshow R5-D4. It's one of the best figures Sideshow did before they gave up doing 1/6 figures.
