Today we have another big “catch up” photo gallery. Back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, NECA offered two exclusive DC Comics vs Dark Horse Comics 2-Packs. We’ve already showcased the excellent Superman vs Aliens 2-Pack. Today we’re please to present our look at the Armored Batman vs Predator 2-Pack. This set features a fully armored Batman figure, reminiscent of his Dark Knight Returns armored costume. Batman includes a removable visor, some removable armor pieces, a baseball bat (the Bat Bat), a gun, and a swap out hand. The included Predator features masked and unmasked portraits, swap out hands, a smart disc, a removable plasmacaster, and a spear.
Our friends at NECA were kind enough to supply this set for us to check out. After the jump, check out 50 photos and a review of the Batman vs Predator Set.
San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Exclusive Armored Batman vs Predator 7″ Scale 2-Pack by NECA
Pros
- Batman looks amazing
- Some of Batman’s armor pieces are removable
- Nicely done cape on Batman
- Great articulation on both figures
- The Predator is essentially an Ultimate Figure
- Excellent paint application on both figures
Cons
- Batman’s thigh armor and visor don’t stay on too well
Overall
Much like the Superman vs Alien set, with this release you get a pretty stellar all-new DC Comics figure, and a remixed version of one of NECA’s Predator figures. The Included Batman here is being repurposed a bit for the upcoming Batman vs Joker Alien figure. The Predator, I believe, takes parts fro ma few previous releases. There’s piece from the City Hunter and Jungle Hunter here, and a brand new paint scheme to separate it from those releases. Batman includes swap out right hands (on for the weapons, 1 fist), a removable visor for the helmet, a gun, and a baseball bat stained with Predator blood. The Predator has masked and unmasked head sculpts, two sets of interchangeable hands, a smart disc, and a spear.
The Armored Batman Figure is a stellar looking sculpt. It features a wonderful, overly muscular comic book body, with highly textured armor pieces on top. Once I had it in hand, I realized that some of the armor pieces were simply sitting on top of the base Batman sculpt, which is seeing a release as a NYCC 2019 Exclusive. The thigh armor and wrist gauntlets can both be removed. If you can do so without damaging the figure, the chest armor could technically come off as well. This will give some chances to easily customize the figure if you happen to pick up both the Armored and Standard Batman figures. Paint on Batman is fantastic as well. There’s a nice bit of paint layering on the armor, with a nice metallic finish on top. The paint application on the figure is clean and all of the lines are sharp with no noticeable bleed. The included cape here works really well. It’s tucked into the back of the collar, and is surprisingly heavy. It lays nicely on the figure, and is long enough to get a natural looking flow to it as it lays at Batman’s feet. The removable thigh armor does just barely grip the legs, which makes them pop off fairly easily. Alon those lines, the clear visor doesn’t attach to the helmet, as much as it just sits in place. Outside of that, you have a fantastic new Batman here.
The Predator is exactly what I expect one of their Predator figures to be. Utilizing an Ultimate base body, and remixing parts from different Predators, gives this figure a great overall appearance. The figure is highly articulated, with a solid range of motion. The paint deco is excellent, with fully painted netting, and nice color transitions on the underlying body. Like Batman, the armor pieces here have multiple layers of paint, with a brushed metal look to them. The new spear is looks good, and can be used with either grip hand included here. With the number of parts and pieces, this is pretty close to an Ultimate release on its own.
This wound up being another really solid release. The Armored Batman is going to make for a great display piece, and the included Predator can easily blend in with any existing Predator shelf. Check out some select images below, and the full gallery after that.

Man thats an awesome set! Wish i coulda nabbed one. Ya know for supposedly some of the universes best hunters/warriors they sure seem get their asses handed to em by humans an awful lot.
Love the predator paint apps, especially the color choices for the helmet.
This need s to be an animated movie.
Agreed and it may have even been a possibility before the Fox buyout. Now that Disney owns Predator though it'll never happen.
Whoa. Your photos are spectacular as always Joe. They really bring out the amazing sculpts and paint apps. I could admire these all day long.
Which is a bad thing since it only makes me sadder for not being able to nab a set with me being in Canada and all! *sniffles*

I really like both sets, but the Superman / Alien one wins IMO. The Alien is a solid relatively standard Alien for a casual collector, and Superman is just sharp. These two are good fillers. Standard Batman and that Sinestro Predator will probably be my next tops.
