Theundercats Ultimates Packaging

Super 7 has released an 80s style toy commercial for their upcoming Thundercats Ultimates line of action figures.  It really nails the old school style of commercials from that time and is worth a watch.  In addition, the team has shared mock ups for the packaging which includes a window box display along with a slip cover.  Read on to check those out.  You can pre-order your copies at our sponsors below or at Super 7 here.

If they are those “reaction” figures I’m going to pass.

Dear lord. Finish the classics team. If it is only reaction, I may die a little inside. Lol.

They know people want Classics, so I suspect it will be some form of those. But I wouldn't rule out ReAction figures in addition to 7" figures.

Exciting stuff. Hoping for a mix of new figures and re-releases.

Yup. Brian is pretty good at knowing what we want. Masters movie figures and snake mountain. He does deliver. No reason to doubt him now.

God knows I want to complete my thundercats, but why these guys?!!!
Quality tends to be so so, quite overpriced, you never get what you see on prototypes(specially female characters) and their business model to charge you basically sucks.

Oh man, I have been waiting for this!! Please continue the Thundercats Classics line started by Mattel and finish the original team!!

I seriously hope the announcement is not about Reaction figures because that will be an easy pass.

It's both apparently. Classics with a mixture of re-releases and new figures plus a separate Reaction line.

That's what people who were in touch with Super7 at SDCC reported anyways. They had the prototypes with them but couldn’t display them; some were allowed to take a look behind the curtains.

I hope that’s true because I am also only interested in the Classics stuff. The teaser seems to suggest a reworked Lion-O which I'd be down for.

If they are reviving the Classics line, I bet it will be a "soft start" for the first wave with just the 2 unreleased figures from the original Mattel subscription that we've already seen and maybe re-releases of the rest of the figures from the original sub for those who missed them. I hope they reveal some new characters beyond that though, like Cheetara, instead of playing the "wait and see how these sell first before doing more" tactic, which hurt the line last time. If they bank the future of this line on how well they sell just a pair of old unreleased figures plus re-releases of figures many of us already got, then that could be a quick death of this line for a 2nd time unless they offer up a few NEW figures to go with them to assure reluctant collectors that more is definitely coming this time around.

I'd guess the first wave will include Grune, Jaga,Lion-O and a new character. Hope they do something about Lion-O being short and stubby, I know in the original model sheets he's actually supposed to be the largest of the group.

Yeah, a new improved Lion-O would be great. My priority wishlist for new figures they MUST make would be Cheetara, Tygra, Mumm-ra (in strong form), and Snarf. Any other characters they produce after that (like Bengali, Slithe, Monkian, Vultureman, etc.) would just be an added bonus for me, considering how unreliable the longevity of this line is at this point. Unlike Masters of the Universe, the original Thundercats toy line and its cartoon character line-up was much smaller, so they could potentially give us all the most important characters in maybe just 3 more waves to satisfy most collectors.

Fourhorsemen involvment should tell people right there that these aren't going to be reaction figures.

I’d love re-imagined, “realistic” thundercats. By realistic I mean more feline in the designs.

    I'm with you.

I grew up with 5 POA star wars figures. I accepted them then, but when GI Joe came along I was done.
If people are loving the nostalgia of the ReAction figures more power to them, but I lived through it, I don't need to go back. Give me Modern Thundercats.

The rumors I've been seeing are that its a 6 figure wave with 4 of them supposedly being Tygra, Slithe, Jaga and Grune. And any re-released figures are being completely done over because Super 7 doesn't have access to Mattel's molds-or something like that.

That's about what I've heard as well.

Looking at the teaser gives this some merit, as if this is the new Classics-style Lion-O (because let’s face it, he's in this first wave no matter what) then he's different to the Mattel release.

The Sword of Omens alone is a completely different sculpt.

That would be great if it's true. The resculpted Lion-O is probably one of the other 2 figures in the wave. I hope the last one is Cheetara, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's a resculpted Panthro. If the line goes long enough, Super7 will probably end up resculpting all the figures Mattel did and adding one or two into each wave to help those collectors who missed them the first time and to correct any flaws with the first versions.
