Mattel has announced their new Masters of the Universe Origins action figure line (via io9) for San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The 5.5″ tall figures will be based on the classic MOTU toy line, but will come packed with updated articulations. The line originally was revealed with a SDCC 2019 Exclusive 2-Pack. The first two figures in the new line will, of course, be He-Man and Skeletor. They will be packed on vintage style card backs, and won’t hit shelves until Fall 2020. Check out a few images after the jump.
SDCC 2019 - Mattel Masters of the Universe Origins Line Announced

These need to be retail. Not specialty shops, places like Wal-Mart, Target, etc... And there needs to be at least 5 characters per wave, no 2 figure waves where stores lose interest in carrying it!
This right here is nostalgia done right.
Keep the feel of the old days but improve on it to match modern playability.
If they offer anything more than the most basic roster, I'm all in.
Any chance they could do this with figures from the '02 series?
Worthless Geewunnerism boils up from the sewers yet again.
MotU will not live again with this tactic.
Skeletor looks great... not sure about Farrah Fawcet heman.
As a devoted MOTUC collector, I won't be buying these. I'm not going to start collecting a whole new line after spending 10 years and lots of money on the definitive Classics line. Making these figures in the vintage 5" scale, regardless of them having extra articulation, feels like a huge step backwards to me. They just don't look nearly as good as the Classics line figures.
Kinda sucks the Super 7 vintage line and filmation stuff might come to an end
As someone who never got any of the modern MOTU stuff, I kinda like this idea. I might talk myself into Mer-Man, if they make him.
The Skeletor would work with my Land Shark. And you MOTUC fans must know, that the odds of more vehicles in that scale are slim.
I was excited when I saw HM with the Alcala-inspired head but this Skeletor looks as bad as the vintage one. If they are just going to add articulation but keep mostly vintage portraits, this line is going to be an easy pass for me.
Has any price been mentioned for these? As nice as Classics are at $50 a pop plus international shipping I can't afford to really collect them. A line like this for $20-25 would be nice.
But as usual, Mattel will probably forget about the rest of the world and I doubt we'll see much of these over here in Europe.
Skeletor looks pretty great...not feeling the he man head sculpt however.
If these are a mass release line, I fully support it. If these are another specialty store line, then it is an easy pass. I’d rather the specialty stores keep getting product like MOTUC or Mondo figures. This looks very “wal-mart”... I wouldn’t expect to see these costing more than $25.
Personally, I would love the Four Horsemen to get a license from Mattel to have a special crossover wave of MOTU with mystic legions. Make them like the MOTU200x line. Would buy them all in an instant.
According to the interview Pixel Dan posted, these will be at retail for $15 each.
I like the look of this line...plus added articulation is great I can't wait to pick these figures up but I wonder how much they will cost?
Thanks webz...im new here..didn't notice that post...kinda excited to see new he-man stuff..i just found a 12 inch man-at-arms online in package (im late to the party)..and I'll try to add this new he-man (i don't like the head sculpt) & skelator figure to my he-man collection that i had since 1982 ...i been looking at the William stout collection but I'm not dropping $50 on 1 figure (they bugging)..that skelator fig is calling me
These have me excited for Masters of the Universe again! Vintage styling and card backs...the return of all new mini-comics...bring it on! I loved classics, but there are over 275 figures in that line. I'm OK if it comes to an end. I'm ready for something new. Plus these figures have the added advantage of being compatible with all the vintage vehicles and playsets.
If Mattel still has the original molds, they could reissue them all with updated paint details...either way I'm all in!
Between the $15 price point and Teela, Evil-Lyn and two mystery figures being at SDCC I think I'm going to go all in on this line.
I have quite a few MOTUC, so I am not sure how I feel about this new line. Not sure I really want to start collecting a new line. At this point I just hope that this line doesn't mean the end of Super7 formation figures.
