Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Rodan Available Now via NECA Stores

Posted on July 12, 2019 at 7:30 am by Joe Moore under Godzilla Toy News

NECA Rodan Released 005

The Godzilla: King of the Monsters – Rodan Figure is available now via the NECA eBay Store and the NECA Amazon Store. Rodan has a 13″ wingspan, and includes a display base and a stand for flight poses. The figure is currently shipping to retailers as well, and should hit store shelves and online retailers within the next few weeks. Road is priced at $23.99 plus shipping.

NECA is thrilled to present its next figure from the new Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie!

Based on the monster’s on-screen appearance in this sequel to the 2014 Godzilla movie, Rodan features articulated wings and includes a themed display base with support rod for simulated in-air poses. The figure measures 13 inches in wingspan and comes in window box packaging with opening flap.

NECA's has that old school Rodan look while the SH MonsterArts version has that Heisei (ala Fire Rodan) look either way he looks badass. That's just my observation.

Are we going to get images of the same quality for the base Godzilla 2019 and their Mothra. I had to use one of these for my Facebook cover image.

So far so good holding out for Neca on Rodan and Mothra- they look great... now if they can deliver on King Ghidora I'll be set- and not have to dump $$$$ into Monsterarts.

I don't like the fact that this Godzilla looks exactly like their 2014 version. They've just extended the dorsal fins, gave him new feet, and simply just repainted over the old mold. The articulation looks the same except for the the tail, it seems segmented.

    I'm going for Monsterarts here

They announced they will NOT be doing Ghidorah.

    These look fantastic.
I wonder how the Rodan looks in a non-flying pose.

    It's an entirely new mold.
I have the original and this all looks new.

If the design is too close to the 2014 version it's because the movie design hasn't changed much.

Ghidorah was THE ONE FIGURE I wanted from them from this movie... Way to go NECA...

This is REALLY frustrating. I only wanted Ghidorah. It just leaves a huge gap in the NECA Godzilla universe.
I am not worried, I know they will get it. NECA is notorious for saying "Impossible" Then all of a sudden, SDCC rolls around and Randy says "Well, we are awesome and would do anything for the fans so we figured it out". When in reality they just hold out to have Big News and get people to buy the current versions. Look at Halloween. They want to sell what they have on the market, I get it, it is marketing. You need an enemy for your NECA Godzilla, right? May as well buy what NECA has on the market because they so no Ghidorah ever.

The only real problem I have with NECA and their Godzilla figures are that they really can't look up. Most of the enemies, Mothra, Rodan, Ghiorah, all require Godzilla to look up. I wish they could figure that out.

I hope we get a remake of the old boc godzilla song, by a GOOD band, and change tokyo to ( i dunno where its set in, hopefully L.A., would love to see it stomped out haha ) wherever city its set in. I fo love the look of the new one.

A NECA Monster Zero would be about $150....slightly less than the Monsterarts version. NECA themselves said it as much. It really makes no sense for them to do it. I would just get the Monsterarts.

I too prefer NECA as their scale is slighly bigger than MOnsterarts...but yeah nothing can be done.

Since, as it stands, NECA isn't doing the new King Ghidorah I really hope they whip out a Heisei version. Maybe given time they'll get around to the new Ghidorah, it could be a Pacific Rim Otachi situation where they needed a better sense of people's commitment to buying something so much pricier than the rest of the line.

That's my problem though. If they aren't going to do the new movie's Ghidorah, what chance do we have of them doing a Showa version when that one is going to be just as complicated?

From my understanding it's the sheer size of 2019 Ghidorah that's keeping them from doing him. While Ghidorah has always been bigger than Godzilla with all of the old suits this usually translated as he's taller and has wings. Not much seems to have changed about this description but now he has much wider and apparently articulate wings as opposed to the classic flat flipper wings. I'm just holding out some kind of hope for any Ghidoarah from NECA because I sure as hell am not paying for the Monsterarts.

  18. dukefett's Avatar dukefett says

    02-26-2019, 10:59 PM

I still don't get why it's too complicated. Yeah he's larger than Godzilla, but the three heads utilize the same molds and the two tails utilize the same molds. I mean it would cost more sure, but saying you can sell Godzillas for $22 but Ghidorahs would be at least 5x more sounds totally absurd.

The only thing I could think of would be the packaging would be very large considering the wings. But we are already putting tails together, the wings wouldn't be that bad if they're articulated.

I'm kinda sure that it's not $150 if they make King Ghidorah. I mean at a plastic cost wise I'm so damn sure that this one use less plastic than the 24 inch version they release in 2014.

Godzilla is basically half a height of Ghidorah,so a rough estimate that the body part of King Ghidorah alone is $24.99 same as Godzilla,As for the 3 neck and 2 tail I don't think it'll be more than $24.99.....Even if they make a lot of joint on his neck it'll not cost that much and I think we'll only get a joint like most of Godzilla tail have which will not cost much.

So now combine the price and we got $50. As for the wings, Ok it's kinda Massive, but it's thin,And I sure as hell it'll not cost $100 just for a freaking wings.

So I think the whole figure will cost $75-$100 at best.

  20. En Sabah Nerd's Avatar En Sabah Nerd says

    02-27-2019, 12:45 AM

Yeah I don't where the $150 came from, nothing I saw on Twitter indicated that value. The Alien Queen wasn't even that much and she's huge. I would imagine 2019 Ghidorah going for something closer to $70 or $80 along the same lines as winged Otachi from Pacific Rim.

  21. ronriii's Avatar ronriii says

    02-27-2019, 03:01 AM

The $150 value for a supposed King Ghidorah was the estimate given by a NECA rep in an interview during Toy Fair. Likewise I think it's strange that it would cost that high, especially since we've had huge figures like the Alien Queen costing less.

  22. VashTS has no avatar! VashTS says

Yep neca themselves said the cost. People think it's going to be less than 100 usd and that's their problem.

Neca seems pretty attainment they will not do it. Reading all these posts above and the complaining, I see why Randy is annoyed.

People here aren't willing to pay 80, let alone 150.

I can't believe that neither American Godzilla film has had BoC's Godzilla in the soundtrack.

Which thread are you reading? I don't see a single complaint in this conversation at all. People are voicing their disappointment, sure.
    But no one is complaining.

And no one has said they will not pay more than $80 for a NECA Ghidorah figure. We have collectively speculated that based on NECA's past products of comparative size and complexity that $80 seems like a reasonable expectation. That's it.

If NECA made a good Ghidorah for $100 I would immediately buy it.
