Mortal Kombat 3 – Scorpion Figure Photos and Info by Storm Collectibles

MK3 Scorpion Figure 006

After a quick preview earlier today, Storm Collectibles has opened up pre-orders for the Mortal Kombat 3 – Scorpion 1/12 Scale Figure. The figure includes two swap out masks, multiple interchangeable hands, a spear, an axe, and blood effects pieces. The figure is priced at $70, and will see a early release at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, with a full general release in October. Check out the photos after the jump.

Mortal Kombat 3 – Scorpion 1/12 Scale Figure

Scorpion Hanzo Hasashi was once a member of the Japanese Shirai Ryu ninja Clan. Given the name Scorpion for deadly fighting skills, his life was blessed with glorious kombat in the name of his Grand Master. His signature move is his spear and hellfire. When his mask is removed, his head is a (flaming) skull. Scorpion is a fan favourite, appearing regularly since Mortal Kombat Klassic.

Product Features:
– Newly developed body with new joints
– 2 x interchanging Mask / Skull Mask
– 4 x interchanging hands
– 1 x Axe
-1 x Scorpion Spear “get over here!”
– 3 x Blood Effect

Seriously Storm ... enough with the damm ninjas. I mean i knew this was coming after they posted the tease (the axe with blood splatter) late May. Seriously tho they've just done seven ninjas and now they'll go ahead and do the same seven in UMK3 costumes. At least give us some more characters before rolling out the next round of ninjas. How about Jax, Kano or Liu Kang? What about the female ninja?

So that's basically 2019 through to 2021 covered during which they may give us two or three non-ninjas. They'll probably squeeze in Chameleon as a SDCC or NYCC exclussive because heaven knows they'll release this ninja form as many times as possible. At this point i'm suprised they're not doing player 2 variants of the ninjas.

Damm Storm i love your figures but i want some other characters.

A lot of people missed out on the first Scorpion which is now going for $200+ on eBay. Same with Sub Zero and Reptile is starting to slowly creep as well. So for those who missed out this is seen as their chance to get a Scorpion without paying 4 times as much as it originally cost.

This for sure. I agree that there are WAY too many ninjas. But Nortorious is right. When I finally got into the MK Storm game, Scorpion was already about $250 on the after market. Crazy. He's the ONE MK figure I actually don't have. Managed to snag Sub Zero for about $110, and got Reptile for $60. Still need Scorpion so I am GLAD they are releasing a different figure.

What is SUPER strange to me though is besides the recent tease of the bloody axe, there was zero info on this figure coming out. Meanwhile they have shown off the cyborgs, Milena & Kitana, MK 3 Sub Zero, etc. at toy shows and yet no info on any of those. Strange marketing.

I appreciate that. I got mine near the end of the run so got lucky on the price. That said, they'd have done better doing a re-release of the original Scorpion and Sub-zero afterall collectors will want both versions! Tamashii Nations are doing another Run of Movie Realization Boba Fetts so i can't see why Storm couldn't have gone that way instead and waited a little longer before another round of ninjas.

To be honest i'll get the MK3 ninjas anyway i'm just frustrated that we're not getting any of the other characters as new Storm MK figures are few and far between. At the current rate it will take a decade to fill out the entire roster. That all said, if they use their ninja bux to give us a Motaro or Kintaro within the next two years ill be more than Satisfied.

As a side note; we've all got the McFarlane MK11 Sub-Zero and Scorpion to look forward to later this year. So many ninjas.

Mortal kombat ninja characters are printing money. One mold makes 6 figures, and many of the 6 have an insane cult following. Can’t fault them at all. All these ninja pay for Sagat, Guile, Liu Kang, etc.

Personally, I can’t wait to see the Goro retool into Kintaro!

Then just re-release the first one. Who cares, they do multiple releases of so many other figure, changing the pants color of Ryu and re-releasing it exactly the same. They should've done MK1 P2 colors with a slightly darker yellow and it would've sold.

That'd be great IF THEY MADE THE OTHER FIGURES. They're not making Liu Kang. They're not making the cyborgs. They're not making the female ninjas. This is such bullshit, I don't need the same damn characters over and over again.

I'm with you, especially since we've seen painted prototypes of Kitana, Mileena, Sektor, and Cyrax and the unpainted prototype for Liu Kang and his painted Animality.

Ninjas are easy money, and the only one missing is Tremor and I he's even less popular than Rain.

I agree a re-release of the first Scorpion would be great, but I don't think Storm Collectibles plans to go that route.

I feel everyone's pain... I'm a big Tekken fan and after a year all we have is 2 characters with a couple color swaps between them with absolutely nothing in line as far as what's next... no prototypes shown, nothing even remotely close to a tease that I've seen. I'm losing hope they plan to continue making Tekken figures. I hope SDCC proves me wrong and they show a few new things.

I also missed out on Scorpion the first time around and by the time I was paying attention he was $200+ on the secondary market. Those of you waiting for Storm to re-release MKII Scorpion keep on waiting. They have yet to re-release ANY of their MK figures. For me it has always been a toss up between Scorpion's MKII and MKIII outfits anyway for which was my favorite. I played MKII more than any other game fighting game, mostly on SNES, but MKIII was my last gasp playing games in arcades. This figure is a godsend for me.

Do you have to pay up front with preordering through Storm Collectibles? Will this figure be available through normal channels?

BBTS will carry him (without the $20 s/h charge) so if you can wait (secondary parties tend to get their figures up to a couple months behind ordering directly from Storm) I don't remember if they bill up front though... but on the site it does say "shipping Oct 2019" and "first to market: SDCC" so he might be available there.

I wish Deep Discount didn't stop selling Storm and Figuarts figures. Seemed to be a little known place selling them.

I was always able to get the new Storm figures when DD had those 15-20% off promo codes. Could pre-order and get a storm fig for like $55 shipped. Same with the figuarts. Crazy. No tax either. But those days are over lol.

I’m fine with it. Between transformers, Neca, storm collectibles, and now Mezco, I’ve got a full plate. They can take their sweet time with new molds. Baraka is a new mold, so is Sagat and guile. So new stuff is trickling out.
This is a new ninja mold, they can get another 6 uses of.

They gotta pad the bank with MK ninjas and Ken/ryu to keep the coffers full.

They actually did do additional runs of SZ and Scorpion back when they were the only ones in the line. I don't see the difference of doing one then and doing one now except that they'd sell out even faster now and make them more money.

For starters, Thanks for reminding us with a picture just how much better the original release looks.

It also reminds me that we get alternate heads and fire effects with that one.

The skull mask thing with this one does not work. It looks goofy smiling. We needed more effects with this one too.

Now,I need a Scorpion and this guy will do that just fine I guess. I would almost wait for another Scorpion like the prototype we saw once upon a time. Last year I think.

I am ok with not getting the original Scorpion, I like the variety of the figures. I have three of the old ninjas and I will fill the Scorpion and Sub-zero slots with different character variations.

I cant blame Storm for releasing ninjas. They make money and people buy them. Just look at Bo Ttef there! Ninja hog. Plus we get other, better figures because of it. I can't help but wonder though if MK is funding other lines like SF. I may get this one but I look for it to be on sale in the future.

I forgot to mention that these new figures will likely have fewer kinks than the original figures. We can probably expect better quality and these look beefier than the old ninjas. Should be a good fit.
