NECA San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Exclusive Superman vs Aliens 2-Pack

Posted on May 31, 2019 at 1:41 pm by Joe Moore under Aliens and Predator Toy News, DC Toy News, San Diego Comic Con

The long awaited DC Comics vs Dark Horse 2-Packs will finally see release from NECA Toys! The sets will officially be convention exclusives. NECA has unveiled the first set, which features Superman versus an Alien Warrior. The set comes in a flapped window box. Superman will include two interchangeable head sculpt, a heat vision accessory, and two sets of interchangeable hands. The set is priced at $60. Check out the photos after the jump.

In the 1995 Superman/Aliens comic book mini-series co-published by DC Comics and Dark Horse, Superman faces the ferocious Xenomorphs on a search-and-rescue mission to a planet without a yellow sun, the source of his immense power.

The set includes two brand new, comic book based figures, both with over 30 points of articulation. Superman stands approximately 7” tall, features a fabric cape and comes with attachable eye blast effect. The Alien stands approximately 9” tall and has a bendable tail.

This action figure 2-pack is inspired by classic comic book mash-ups! This set is based on a DC/Dark Horse mini-series and comes in window box packaging with embossed opening flap.

Oh come on...and here I was thinking I was done stressing over Neca's exclusives after last year's coronary...

Watch this one be the one they DON'T re-release. Gonna have to make sure the defibrillator is charged come early June...

Well, even if GS doesn't do another exclusive run of these, Shredder and Splinter should be easier to find (compared to the Foot Soldiers) on the aftermarket considering folks will buy multiple sets to army build

Didn't Randy say that they would be bringing the Foot Ninja and Shredder to Gamestop like the single pack Turtles?

I'll definitely try for this set but my main priority will be the Batman/Alien set.

It might take some time (given how long apart the SDCC set and GS turtles were released) but with the overall demand and sales of the GS turtles I would imagine that they would work with NECA to do it again for this set. I imagine that like the turtles they would overall have less accessories and that those would be divided among the figures.
I honestly was just expecting like a video game colored Bebop and Rocksteady set for SDCC so this is a pretty cool reveal even though I don't have interest in getting it as an exclusive set.

Very happy to see them making Splinter for the 1990 line. Now we just need to get April and Casey Jones for the movie line, and Splinter, April, and Casey Jones for the cartoon line too.

I knew they would do a 6 inch Shredder figure. Eh, I'm not going through the crap I tried going through to get the six turtles figures when they ended up being sold individually at GameStop which I was able to get them then. So I'll just wait for them to release just the Shredder figure by himself.

STOP NECA!! I DONT HAVE THE MOTHER %@^#*$ MONEY FOR EVERYTHING AT ONCE!
I can be patient but I cant get everything at one time! Batman & Alien, Turtle set, Bebop & Rocksteady, video game sets that have not been announced yet, Batman and Predator, Superman and Alien. They have to stop or I cant even keep up. I guess I could scale the dogs food back to half of his normal portion, I will only eat one time a day until SDCC, .....

    Sacrifices.

I keep seeing mention in this thread of the Batman and Superman 2-packs as SDCC exclusives too. Where has that been revealed, because Toyark and a couple other major toy sites haven't posted anything about it yet and there's no mention of it on NECA's SDCC page yet either.

There was an image that came out around NYTF that said that the two Batman 2 packs would be released as SDCC exclusives. The Superman 2 pack as well as an unannounced DC 2 pack (thought to be Green Lantern) will be NYCC exclusives.

Here's Shartimusprime's interview with Randy at NYTF 2019. They start talking about DC around 6:00. Randy doesn't mention specifically which packs will come out but he does mention that they are Con exclusives.

I must have missed that. As for Rocksteady and Bebop, I thought those were slated for retail release as another Target exclusive later this summer or fall, pending how well the first TMNT packs sold at Target (which seems to have been a success). So now there's belief that these are going to be a con exclusive instead??

I'm still wondering what the relevance of GL in the 2 packs is... I've read the Batman/ Supes vs. Preds/ Aliens comics and I don't remember Hal being a part of them, can someone enlighten me? Or is it just a figure they wanted to do?

You can see a Hal out of focus, in-between the two prototype Blade Runner 2049 figures.

    *Edit*

I re-read your question and realized what you were asking.

There was a Green Lantern vs Aliens crossover comic.

So far as last updated the regular cartoon Bebop and Rocksteady will still be a Target two-pack like the recent-ish Target packs, there was merely speculation that we would see repaint variants as SDCC exclusives.

As far as I know, Randy has never definitively said that a Shredder in the 7" scale was even on the way...always dropping vague hints like "Stay Tuned" or "Who Knows?!?" while leaving it up to us to speculate.

I'd like to think that this is gonna hit mass retail like the previous Turtle SDCC sets have, but with the amount of backlash NECA received with the Gamestop Movie Turtles (in which many collectors were pissed having gone through the trouble of the SDCC debacle, only to have NECA turn around and announce they were hitting mass retail just a few months later...) I could very easily hear NECA saying in my head "nope...SDCC WILL be the only way to get them this time around..."

Hopefully they rectify this by at least producing some more of these sets this time around, while finding a way to effectively cap the amount scalpers can buy....cause I can see these disappearing in less than two minutes yet again the way the last movie Turtles set did.

It'll already be in a two pack with an Alien if it happens at all so I wouldn't hold my breath for much construct-wise. It's possible the figure seen in that image is just another company's, from other BTS pics we've gotten it's apparent that the NECA crew has a lot of toys around the workplace that aren't their own projects.

I know NECA tries to curtail scalping, but a comic shop near me has its entire staff get on and use their own cards to order as many exclusives as they can, then they flip 'em at the store >
