New Photos of the Golden Girls Figures by NECA

Posted on May 2, 2019 at 11:26 am by Joe Moore under General Toy News

NECA has posted a few new photos for their upcoming Golden Girls 8″ Scale Retro Style Figures. The images give us a look at the final production figures. The figures were originally revealed during San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Each figure is packed in special window box packaging. Sophia includes a pie and a wicker bag. They begin shipping to retailers on May 13th, and should hit stores by the end of the month. Read on to see the new photos.

From the classic TV comedy series that even today continues to inspire those who cherish friendship, rattan furniture and cheesecake, The Golden Girls take action figure form!

Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia are dressed in fabric clothing that’s perfect for an afternoon on the lanai, and feature authorized likenesses. Each fully articulated figure stands approximately 8” tall.

Window box packaging.

Is there really a market for this? I see a great implosion coming to the action figure community.

I pre-ordered these yesterday. It does seem like a very random license to get, but that's great for people like me. I don't collect just one license or line, I have a massive collection of all sorts of different stuff. Even figures from properties I may not like if the figure turns out well enough. I happen to be a fan of classic sitcoms like Golden Girls, so this is right up my alley. Since we'll never get figures for say, Family Ties, Airwolf, Hunter, Taxi, etc so this scratches a particular itch for me of classic random licensed action figures we never got in the '80's.

I'll get these just to support the line in hopes that "Three's Company" is next.

I adored Golden Girls as a kid but these look horrible. The clothes are ill-fitting and Blanche's face sculpt looks like she's being tortured but can't scream or they'll kill her. The other 3 heads are not bad, though. I just think they would have been better served by doing sculpted clothing instead of this horror show.

It's okay man, you don't have to rationalize to anyone for buying golden girls dolls hahaha.

I'm probably going to get them myself...I have two toy shelves specifically for random 80s properties and they'd be perfect for it.
Speaking of the 80s, how is it that no one has made anything for revenge of the nerds yet? They'd be perfect for neca mego style since they'd be able to milk multiple figures out of one head sculpt.

Why wouldn't they make it a 4-pack? Is anyone just going to buy Blanche? These also look like much better headsculpts than they typically give the Mego style figures. They're usually caricaturish.

I just looked at this thread to gauge interest, I have to say I'm surprised by how many people want these.

When I was a young teen I bought these sort of Mego-style 3 Stooges figures, because I figured, "hey, I love the stooges" but within the same day I bought them they were stuffed back in the box, collected dust for years somewhere before they were eventually donated along with a bunch of other random stuff.

So obviously I'm not going to be picking these up, but I'm glad there's a market for them and they won't just be peg-warming at Target.

Yeahhhh, I know the show had its fans and it's "cool" to like shows like this and wear the T-shirts (available at Target now!!!) and buy the Funko POP's, but these suckers are gonna cost 30 bucks a pop, right? That's 120 bucks for a complete set, and I don't see most casual fans buying into that. I feel these are gonna pegwarm after the initial interest dies down like the Iron Maiden figures at Toys R Us...

I'm all about the 80s and plan to get these. There was recently a surge of Golden Girls enthusiam..I don't know what sparked it, but it got popular again lol. Seen a clue board game of Golden Girls at borders ( yes I bought it).

I am glad other companies are doing a bit of what Funko does, appeal to a wider audience of licenses. I rather have figures then pops any day

Golden Girls look so fantastic. A MUST buy.

I know this is off topic slightly....how could Neca nail these perfectly yet those Karate Kid head sculpts....so far off.

Those will not peg warm. Golden Girls got popular again due to Millennials seeing them in syndication.

The show is fantastic and so are these figures. I firmly believe....they will sell.

I dount millenials would drop 120+ dollars on these, or that they'd even buy one at 30 bucks. More likely they'd buy a Funko Pop, or a T-shirt with the characters from Urban Outfitters, or the Golden Girls Monopoly game which would never get touched and rot in a closet :P
