Figma Death Stranding Figure Preview

Posted on April 9, 2019 at 8:00 am by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

Death Stranding, the long in-development game by Kojima Productions, is still surrounded by mystery. After a lengthy preview at E3 2018, fans were left with far more questions than answers. The game will feature Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner. Over on his Twitter page, Hideo Kojima has shared photos of Norman Reedus’ Sam Bridges as a 6″ scale Figma by Good Smile Company. The figure still looks to be in development, as only an unpainted prototype is shown. Check out the photos after the jump.

From Hideo Kojima's Twitter, the prototype shows the character Sam Bridges (played by Reedus).

Even if the game ends up disappointing, that Figma looks fantastic. Will have to get that.

lol At the rate they are working on the game, the Figma will come out before it.

I'll definitely pick this up, the likeness is great and I love the overall look of the figure. Hopefully both the figure and game will release in 2019

This guy looks pretty cool, but I'm still holding out for my Space Invader... Do you hear me Goodsmile?

Are you telling me I could potentially own a figma Norman Reedus? Just like the game this figure looks amazing. Figma seems to be doing more and more of the realistic sculpts and not just anime characters which I enjoy.

I saw the various trailers for this game, it looks so fucking weird. I'm certainly interested in seeing how it turns out, especially with Reedus, Guillermo del Toro, and Mads Mikkelsen involved.

That said, I'm not really a fan of Kojima's work and don't get all the love. He does really good world-building and gameplay design and his overall stories are usually interesting, but the story execution and dialogue is often laughable and his gameplay-to-cutscene ratio is grating, with cutscenes and codec conversations that stretch on for days. Plus, if you look at all of his female characters, the guy's a major perv.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is more my kinda game. It takes place in Kojima's world, and Kojima and his team were responsible for most of the overall plot, but Platinum Games did just about everything else (story and gameplay), and it shows.

I guess weird is one way to describe it. I find it hard to get excited for a game that I have yet to see any gameplay from, espcially like 3 years after it was first revealed. Kojima is hit or miss when it comes to story telling as the man sometimes thinks overcomplicated convoluted crap makes for a better story than a sensibly simplistic one.

BTW, I doubt we're going to see the game released until the PS5 launches next year. It's going to be a launch title for sure at this point.

Yeah after MGS4 I can't really say I'm interested in any of Kojima's stuff anymore. It was pretty fun a the start but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. I tried Peace Walker when they ported it to PS3 but barely got into it and I didn't even bother with Phantom Pain.

E3 2018 there was gameplay footage...

And everything by Sony advertises the game as a PS4 title...

    But yeah, "for sure"

You're right, they did show gameplay footage, I should have been more specific. They have yet to actually show us what type of game it is going to be. Showing us a dude running around doesn't really tell us much of anything. Is it an open world game? Is it an RPG? Is it a linear action adventure? Is it a shooter? Is it Survival Horror?

I never said the game wasn't going to come to the PS4, I just said I wouldn't expect it to come out until the PS5 is out. Think Breath of the Wild where it came out on both the Wii U and the Switch.

Of course, wasn't Kingdom Hearts III advertised to be on the PS3 at one point? Same goes for Final Fantasy XV when it was part of the XIII series.

I think you're assuming the game is more behind in the development stages then it actually is at this point. KH3 I recall being announced back in like 2013 as a PS4/Xbox 1 only title but maybe there was talk of it being on PS3 at some point before that. I don't see the relevancy here though, as it seemed like KH3 and FF were both extremely early in their development at that point, if not even started. At this stage of production with Death Stranding I don't see them using it as a launch title for a new console. It'll definitely come out for PS5 eventually I would assume though, similar to The Last of Us which came out a few months before PS4 did and then got remastered.

As far as the gameplay footage, yeah it's definitely not anything super exciting. I think the point of it was to show off the engine and the environment more then anything else. I think the game will be open world but anything more then that is a mystery to me.

This game and Ghost of Tsushima have definitely pushed my patience as far as wanting to know more and wanting to know when I can play it, but I am hopeful they will both release this year still and be amazing titles for the PlayStation.

Well Ghosts of Tsushima, which I also expect is more than a year away, looks great because it makes me think of Onimusha. At this point, I'm only expecting The Last of Us 2 to make it out this year. Usually if they were going to release something for the Summer, we'd know it by now.

I love the design and will surely get this even before playing the game.
Also, I hope they will do more character like Lea Seydoux or of course Mikkelsen, in the trailers they look pretty cool too.
(also, is this a Kojima figure on the 4th picture?)

I'm still bummed Silent Hills got cancelled. That playable trailer was fucking awesome and the best anything Kojima's done in years.

Man I'm really hoping we get a Guillermo or Mads figure down the line. I also loved the design of the golden mask character who summons that giant lion like creature in the game trailer.
