Time for a look at figures from the latest wave of Star Wars Black Series to drop, Wave 20’s Mace Windu and Mudtrooper Han Solo. Last year I hit my breaking point with Black Series and had to drop down from being a completionist to just cherry picking the ones I really want. Mace and Mudtrooper Han fit that mold. The rest of the Wave has some nice pieces in it like Padme and the Battle Droid, but for my personal collection I gave them a pass.
Mace is the star here, with a super well done Photo Real head, it’s captures Sam Jackson’s likeness better than most, if not all, figures before it. The robe is still Black Series style soft goods, but for whatever reason I was able to manipulate it to look cleaner this time, more so than on Obi-Wan, Luke or the Emperor. The key is tucking that hood in behind him. Lightsabers on Mace and Grievous are using a new pegging system with rippled pegs to keep it firmly in place, though those pegs are now much thinner so I can see breakages down the line.
The Mudtrooper Han is solid, I dig alternate takes on the helmeted guys and will grab any that come my way. This one is technically Han Solo but with the helmet gear all done up he can be any mindless trooper ready to get blown to bits in your shelf battles.
Both of these guys are dropping now, read on to check out over 80 HD shots of them both courtesy of Dorkside Toys!
