Mortal Kombat – Original Johnny Cage Figure Coming From Storm Collectibles

Posted on January 24, 2019 at 1:21 pm by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

Storm Collectibles shared a photo on their Instagram Page, showcasing the in-progress clay sculpt based on Master Daniel Pesina. Longtime Mortal Kombat fans will remember his as the face of Johnny Cage from the original Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2! Master Pesina not only did the digitized performance for Johnny Cage, but also was the actor behind Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Smoke, and Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat 1 and 2.

According to a post by Master Pesina on his Facebook Page, this sculpt will indeed represent Johnny Cage from the original game. The sculpt is still in the very early stages, and it may be a while before we see the final product. For now, click the banner image to check out the full photo.

Daniel Pesina, the original actor for Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat posted the following picture on Facebook, which was then shared by Storm Collectibles.

It shows a prototype of a new Johnny Cage sculpt in Daniel's likeness:

They finally confirmed it is an MK1 Cage. About time.

I hope this is a big year for Storm MK!

I feel like after Goro a lot of people got on the bandwagon, see so many wanting a Scorpion and Sub-Zero reissue. I will say that for me Goro saved me from abandoning this line of ninjas haha.

I'm thinking they'll show either the cyber ninjas or the female ninjas soon too. They've got to have some repaints to do as SDCC/NYCC exclusives. Unless they just make them bloody variants, but that'd be a new one.

Besides the cyborgs, Khameleon, and Kabal, Im not sure Id but any more Storm. Unless they put out different designs for the ninjas. Not that I dont like the line, but they have released almost all the characters I like.

Sweeter than Sweet! I love the original designs. The fact they reached out to the original actor just makes it even more amazing. Can't wait! My $$ is secured. I hope they show Kano, Sonya, MK1 Liu Kang, Old Mandarin-looking Shang Tsung, and Raiden soon!

Ha I'm the total opposite; I want all the unique characters. I begrudgingly bought the other ninjas hoping they'd keep the line going. I'd 100% skip Khameleon unless he comes w/ awesome blood effects.

Yeah that's really true, great on them to reach out to Pesina. That's interesting that they're going for MK1 designs of him. Baraka is totally the new game version, his headsculpt anyway.

The Storm Baraka is absolutely the MK2 version, including the head.

Baraka has to be quite a bit different than the mk2 design, because the original actor, Richard Divizio (who also portrays Kano) was wearing a nosferatu mask with chrome painted press-on nails glued on for teeth. The arm blades were cardboard wrapped in aluminum foil. Not really all that scary. So yeah, original Baraka really isn’t scary. They did a badarse job with Goro. They have my complete faith with the rest of the killer cast!

Would rather it be mk2 cage since most of the other characters are mostly mk2

Okay it's not literally a figure of the guy wearing the costume but the design is totally his MK2 design. The clothes, completely black eyes, and silver teeth and blades are all MK2.

Amazing! Would love to see Noob (MK9), Scorpion (MK4), and any of the ninjas in their MK3 attires (Scorp/Sub/Noob/Smoke/Rain/Ermac)!!

Easy enough to have both in one figure. Just have optional swap out legs and saches. Head to torso is the same for both games. Personally, I prefer his mk1 look. Very VanDamme looking (Midway was working on VanDamme starring in a bloodsport-like game before negotiations fell apart, leading to those assets being used for Mortal Kombat and Cage being a parody of VanDamme)

I know, I was just being a goof. It’s all good.

It's cool. I'm partly to blame for not ending my goofing with a

As for the MK stuff, if They are going MK1 for Johnny Cage, what does everyone think the chances are for an old mandarin Shang Tsung with his chair and flaming skull balls? Think he'll be limited in articulation by wearing the flowing robes or will they change him to wearing baggy silk pants? Since in game he only floated everywhere, I don't know how big of a deal articulation would be, other than the ability to sit in a throne and steal souls.

I just loved the original Shang Tsung because he was such the stereotype from the old B martial arts movies. When he got younger he started looking less asian and more like Zartan from GI Joe.
