Final Fantasy – Bring Arts Cloud Strife “Another Form” Version

Posted on January 18, 2019 at 8:35 am by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

Square Enix Japan has released photos and details for a new figure of Cloud Strife from their Final Fantasy line up. The figure is actually based on his appearance in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. The Final Fantasy – Bring Arts Cloud Strife “Another Form” Version is a fairly large figure in the 6″ scale Bring Arts line. Cloud stands over 7″ tall, and will include his Buster Sword, multiple interchangeable hands, a swappable cloak, and a figure stand.

Pre-orders are live in Japan via the Square Enix Shop. The Bring Arts Cloud Strife is scheduled for release on May 31st. The figure is priced at 9,504 Yen (about $87 USD). North American pre-orders shouldn’t be far behind. See the new images by clicking the headline of the story.

I'd have liked a straight up FF7 Cloud, but I still pre-ordered this.

Ooh yeah, now we are talking. Warming themselves up for FFVII, Advent Children and Remake versions I'm sure. I'm all in.

I'm wondering this too. It seems like square moving away from the Play Arts Kai line. The only items not yet released are Cloud + Fenrir and Aerith. My problem is bring arts is starting to look like the early days of Play Arts. Square is shooting the price up with each new release.

I am assuming when they get to actually desired Bring Arts (aka FFVII and other classics) they'll be 80-100 each. High end SHF / MAFEX are similar. These will be a little high for what you get, but they are the only game in town for the characters so the mark up is theirs to do.

If the normal size figs are 80, with pops to 100 for tons of accessories or size, I can do it. If they are base 100+ with pops above that for larger core charactes, dunno if that's worth it.

Is it some sort of hybrid with Vincent? Kinda reminds me of Strider Hiryu in those colours.

The BIG Problem here is...that Square will NEVER bring a Line to an "End" thanks to you Guys, that are ALWAYS Complaining.

    Did you notice??

    1) Normal Play Arts > "Bla Bla i do not like this Line, Quality is not good enough, Price is to high > Never finished

    2) Then Play Arts Kai > "Bla Bla, Price is to high, i will not buy this anymore"
    > Some Characters like KH3 or Dissidia Play Arts Kai will NEVER see the Light of the Day.

    3) Now Bring Arts > "Bla Bla, Quality is not good enough, Figures are to small, PRICE IS TO HIGH FOR ME

to THAT i have to say "SHUT THE DAMN FUCK UP AND BUY THE FIGURES".

As a Huge Fan of Play Arts Kai, and now Bring Arts
i just want complete Line of of ALL Characters.

    For example:
COMPLETE KH3 Bring Arts: Sora (Released), Riku (Released), Kairi (Will follow soon) AND Ventus, Aqua, Terra (Hope for these in the Future)

So Stop complaining. I know most of the Collectors around the
World do not care for...."Completion", but i do!

It's his look from Kingdom Hearts. He and Sepiroth had alt looks for their cameos. There are play arts (not Kai) versions of these out there too.

Pff, I have the Play Arts version (dates back to 2009-2010 ?) and he looks very similar. And I sure as hell didnt pay 90 USD !!
I purchased Nier's 2B and I have to say that for the price point I didnt feel I got what I paid for. These figures are in scale with the Figuarts (or slightly larger, depending on the figure) yet they cost double the price ! Like, come on, Square is straight up capitalizing on the fans' love of the franchise.....wildly !!

Now, KH Sephiroth is a figure I have been wanting to buy for a while but he costs around 100 USD on the secondary market (ofcourse) so I d say that I may actually pick him up cause I loved both of these looks. I still feel I m getting ripped off tho. -_______-

But if all Collectors / Fans of Square Enix Figures think the same way,
as i said, the Bring Arts Line will be cancelled faster than we all could Imagine.

I am already sad, that there will be no more Play Arts Kai.
But also the End of Bring Arts, because People refuse to pay some more Money.

Some People here do not seem to understand that these are Collectibles
and not an ordinay Toy for around 90$.

And as i said before, you do not need to pay 90$ for a Bring Arts.
If you purchase a Bring Arts for 90-100$ than i can tell you 100% your Vendor is
    a Scammer!

The Normals Price Range is around 60$ even at Square Enix Store.
    50$ (+Shipping) at Nippon-Yasan.com at Pre Order.

Some People still Fall into the SAME Price Trap over and over and over again, because
they refuse to make Price Research.

And to add something to the Bring Arts Price Point:

The Price itself on a Bring Arts also depends on the
Size of the Figure itself. EVERY Collector knows that
Bigger Size of Figure / Transformer = Higher Price

Cloud has a Price Point of around 70$ at Nippon
    https://www.nippon-yasan.com/figures...-form-ver.html

But that is a Result of the bigger Size.
Cloud is adult, and taller than Kingdom Hearts Sora for Example.
Sora had a Price Tag of around 50$ while Cloud now comes with 70$
    and that makes Sense.

It isn't unreasonable to complain about the prices. You're absolutely paying the Square tax on these. And thanks to pricing them so high, they've generated a healthy bootleg market.

Yeah Bootleg.... i have Experience with that.

Have Fun with it. These Figures will always Fall Apart / Joints Break fast after you have removed them from the Package.

Figma Bootleg, Play Arts Bootleg, all the same.
Have Fun with a Fragile Figure.

There may be some Paint Issues on PAK and Bring Arts,
but i NEVER experienced any Breakage Issues.

So Price is indeed = Quality

But honestly, Bring Arts has so far sucked for me!! I bought 2B from Bring Arts and have A2 and 9S on pre-order. But guess what, they are now going to release a 2B 2.0 with more accessories and a different sculpt, not even a year since the release of the original. Even Square seems to think they messed up with their original 2B release.

SE needs to get their act together. They are selling these for the same price as a Figma (sometimes even more). So at least give us the same level of quality. Don't do half baked releases either. Take the time and give us something good rather than release another version less than a year later. I think its a reasonable thing to ask.

Yeah, good to know that apparently the official Square Enix shop is a "scammer" site now because I just preordered Cloud for $100 and got 2B 1.0 for $90. I guess I'll call them and BBTS out on Twitter now

I’ve seen the 2B announcement and that was definitely a kick to the balls for everyone who picked up the original. A 2.0 within a year... wow.

And I agree, Bring Arts tries to play with the big boys in terms of price but are easily beaten by other Japanese toy manufacturers at this scale. Figuarts, figma etc., it's really hard to take Square serious when they try to milk their fans that hard with sub-par products.

But they have a monopole with their characters so they will survive by just cycling through their most favorite franchises over and over again.

  21. Ventus's Avatar Ventus says

    01-23-2019, 11:10 AM

Do not get me wrong - i also noticed that Square is TRYING to push
the Price towards 100$....and maybe soon, the Price will be even beyond 100$....sooooo we are ending up getting SMALL Bring Arts instead
of Play Arts Kai - and the Price is the same in the End.

They really need to get their Shit together, that is correct.

But i am afraid, that the Bring Arts Line will also be cancelled
earlier than some could Imagine because of the low Sales.

I only (Just as many other Fans) wanted to get
an Kingdom Hearts Xehanort, Terra, Ventus Figure once in my Life.
Maybe some FF Dissidia Figures like Zidane.

But i think that will never happen.

It seems Square is giving a Shit about the REALLY REALLY Important
    Video Game Characters.

Alone Kid and Serge from Chrono Cross (Bring Arts or Play Arts)
for a "Normal" Price would bring them such Hell of a Cash Rain $$$$
    more than they could Imagine.

They can Produce Xenogears Bring Arts, so why not Chrono Trigger / Chross?
I do not get the Point.

But Square Really needs to rethink their Price and Character Choice Options.
Or else there will not be anymore more Merchandise (With Articulated Figures) in the Future anymore.

  22. RamenRider's Avatar RamenRider says

    01-23-2019, 12:54 PM

That's the bane with figure collecting; companies need to make money so they need to make what the highest amount of people is most likely to buy. Not just fans, but also casuals who want one-offs for their videogame / comic / movie collection etc.

Safest bets will always be made, if the demand is there they'll maybe make a few niche choices as well.

But complete collections are hard to come by and if your figures of the popular characters aren’t going over well then the chances for said lesser known guys to be cast in plastic are even slimmer.

Chrono Trigger should definitely be a thing though, I wasn’t sure about them diving into Dragon Quest hard but they nailed the Toriyama look. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Chrono Trigger figures sooner than later.
