S.H. Figuarts Infinity War Bucky Barnes Review

Posted on December 27, 2018 at 3:30 pm by Tony_Bacala under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Time for a quick look at the recently released S.H. Figuarts Bucky.  This is the US version, paired up with the Tamashii Impact effect piece in one box.  The Impact crater is an alternate color from single retail versions, giving us a desert clay tone. Bucky comes packed with two faces, 2 sets of hands, a gun and clip.  His knife is removable on the leg as well.  Paint is solid throughout, a nice muted set of colors and great weathering on the arm itself, giving it the metallic feel it deserves.  The faces are digitally painted.  They aren’t the best Bucky likeness on their own, but are solid human realistic faces.  Harsh light is not his friend tho, it brings out a lot of shape to the face and when paired with the digital paint is unflattering.  In normal room light, it’s generally fine.

Bottom line, he’s a solid 2nd row addition to a SHF MCU line up.  Read on to check it out for yourself after the break courtesy of Tamashii Nations and Bluefin Brands!

Amazing shots. That BW sculpt is the closest I've seen, but it's still not quite there for ScarJo's look, particularly in the eyes.

The biggest problem is in fact Cap. How is it that no company has been able to give him his dual Wakandan shields? Plus, it's not that the color was wrong on this face, it's the literal shape of the beard that throws it off. Otherwise, really good for the bodies on all.

I've definitely noticed that beards are a problem for SHF sculptors. Ep 2 Obi-Wan, ANH Obiwan, and now Cap all are a little bit off to me, well Cap is really off I guess.. But honestly no one has a good Headsculpt for IW Cap. The Hot Toys looks like a different person to me.

Nice pics! I think this is the first SHF that I know of that has a removable gun clip like that.

I'm a BIG Spider-Man fan, so that Iron Spider costume disgusts me. And it reminds me that I really shouldn't be so hot on Iron Man either.

What a weird thing to be angry about. It's entirely possible to enjoy comics without the creepyass gatekeeping, my dude. Comics is the only fandom I've seen that is fragile enough to feel threatened by more people enjoying stuff.
But due to the whining, I see now that I missed some thread updates! So thanks for the bump, the photos are fantastic.

So Enigma expresses an opinion on a costume, and he gets...

^Just for expressing an personal opinion on a costume^

I hate to tell you this 'dudes', but you really don't come across as the open-minded people you seem to think you are. But hey, I guess you 'brah's' can engage in 'creepyass gatekeeping' and 'whining' with your 'fragile threatened' ego's all you want - because you're the good bro's, right?

I'm more of a classics fan, and I don't really like the costume much either. But I also have no problem at all if other people do. I might be missing out on a previous argument or something, but those responses were just bizarre.

Child, what are you babbling about? Repeating back everything someone says at them as if it applies was a fun tactic when I was ten years old, but it doesn't carry much weight here.

There are enough people shitting all over the movies because they aren't presented in the same nostalgic tint, some of us are a little weary of it. It's really simple. If you want costumes that have flat featureless spandex in two whole colors, man, you go enjoy. The comics you love still exist. I like them quite a lot, as well.
I'm sure the people who make those decisions looked into slavishly recreating some of those costume designs when they started this entire movie venture and, like any person with taste, realized they look boring as hell/downright goofy on the screen. Thankfully.

Every thread about the movies devolves into this pointless, juvenile stuff. Can we talk about obscenely pretty pictures of toys?

What you said in the post above. I thought that was clear.

So if what you said doesn't apply - why did you say it? Unless you mean doesn't apply to what I was saying, which was about what you had said, so it does.

And as for 'child', I'll just add that to 'creepyass', 'fragile / threatened' and 'whining' as mature discussion shall I?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You like the movies - great. It's not like they're going to disappear because some people aren't as in to them as you - and may say so. And even then, he didn't say anything about them - he said he doesn't like a costume.

I happen to think most classic comic-book costumes would look silly transferred literally to screen. But I also think the rubber / muted colours of many big screen interpretations can also be more 'boring' than their comic counterparts - which look too garish (or not boring enough) when transferred to the screen. More realistic onscreen definitely, but no more exciting. But that doesn't matter: You have your opinion, I have mine, and he has his. The insults didn't seem necessary.

But that's what I mean. He said he didn't like a costume and got a bunch of insults for it. The 'devolving' started with that. All you needed to say was what you just said above. That's a discussion.

Any yes, the toys look pretty, even the Spiderman one.

God forbid someone has a difference of opinion around here. I'm surprised you noticed from atop your high horse.

And Lionheart... wasn't necessary for you to fight my battles, but I appreciate it.
