NECA Team Fortress 2 Series 4 – RED Figures Final Packaging

Posted on October 3, 2018 at 12:09 pm by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

Shipping out to stores at the end of the month, NECA has shared final packaging photos for their upcoming Team Fortress 2 Series 4 – RED 7″ Scale Figures. This wave includes a Medic, a Scout, and a Sniper figure. They should begin hitting shelves in late October or early November. Look for them to be available via NECA’s own online store fonts soon. Click the headline of the story to see the new photos.

From one of the best-selling and most successful games in the Valve library comes the long-awaited Team Fortress 2 Series 4 RED action figures!

The 7″ scale Medic, Scout and Sniper figures are faithful to the animated look of the characters. They feature over 25 points of articulation and include their signature in-game weapons and accessories.

People keep telling me that NECA will be making an announcement "soon" about new retail partnerships to make up for TRU's death...has anything been revealed yet?

Also, why release the BLU TF figures first? Isn't that considered the "alternate" color?

They are announcing the new partners in July, likely around SDCC. It's rumored that GameStop is set to be one of the new retail outlets. That kind of sucks as GameStop is about to go up for sale apparently.

I'm so glad I didn't sell of my original RED and BLU teams. I had hope that somehow NECA would finish up the team. This must have been an expensive line for them to produce as none of the figures share parts with each other.

Outside of Predator and Alien, it's rare to see NECA actually complete a team, let alone a video game property with such varying sculpts for each figure.

I vaguely recall NECA showing off an additional bubblegum chewing head sculpt for the Scout way back in 2012 during the sculpting phase. I hope that's included in the actual release along with sunglasses for the Sniper.

That would be sweet, as I have a huge Gamestop (in a stand-alone building) right near me and they already carry a lot of toys and stuff. Clearly, Gamestop is trying to compensate for the fact that gaming is moving to digital downloads and mobile from physical media.

Hmmm...I didn't know that, so I just went and read an article. Apparently they're in talks with a few private equity firms but nothing is definite yet. If they DO sell, hopefully it doesn't become another Toys R Us fiasco.

When GameStop acquired ThinkGeek, ot signaled a big shift. They've been moving many of their bigger stores to what they call 50/50 stores. Those are the ones that will have heavier a presence of collectibles.

If it's a private equity firm that buys them, it's bad news. Those rarely end well. However, Hot Topic is apparently interested in buying them. If I recall, Hot Topic was also up to buy ThinkGeek.

HT buying them would probably work out fairly well. Iirc, HT own Box Lunch which is basically a Think Geek style store. I've gotten SW Movierealization figures from there before and they carry SHF and model kits along with the standard apparel, funkos, and small stuff like keychain figures.

This game is over 11 years old and still going. That's amazing.
