HULK! HULK! HULK! Hulk SMASH! And S.H. Figuarts Thor Ragnarok Gladiator Hulk has smashed into collector’s hands with it’s recent release. This is a figure I’ve been itching to get my hands on since it was first shown. Planet Hulk and World War Hulk were great comic story arcs, and I’ve always picked up this version of the big guy in toy form over the years. When they remixed it into Thor Ragnarok I was stoked, I think the final result was good. Would I have preferred a full movie just for this, yes, but hey, I’ll take what I can get.
The S.H. Figuarts version here is fantastic. Sculpting is top notch head to toe. The gear is built in, not removable. This ensures it’s tight and lines up properly, especially with the tat marks. We lose an upper bicep swivel articulation wise, but everything else is there and has a great overall range. The weapons are hard plastic with metallic paint, so no warping. They are a bit heavy, and Tamashii has included extra braces to put between the wrist and hand to help with support. Those didn’t fully do it for me, still had a hard time with the war hammer staying upright. Overall though I was able to pose him with the weapons better than some other versions of the figure. Face sculpt is good, we get resting and grunting. No yell face. All paint seems to be old school hand applied, no digital printing.
Bottom line, this is an epic piece, and a welcome addition to the ranks here. Read on to check over 65 HD images and see for yourself! He’s out now in Japan and should be at US retailers soon!
