Posted on May 22, 2018 at 6:31 pm by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

The reissue for the Portal 2 – Chell 7″ Scale Figure Reissue is available now from the NECA Ebay Store and the NECA Amazon Store. The figure is priced at $24.99 plus shipping. It will begin shipping out to retailers early next month, and should begin hitting store shelves and online shops by mid-June. With the listings come our first look at the new packaging. Click the links to order the figure. Read on to see the new images.

Back by popular demand! From Valve’s award-winning Portal 2 video game, protagonist Chell is depicted in her orange Aperture Laboratories jumpsuit, and stands approximately 7” tall. Chell features over 20 points of articulation to navigate any variety of test chamber scenarios. For science. She comes with an ASHPD accessory that lights up and glows blue just like in the game.

Half-Life 2 Gordon Freeman and Portal 2 Chell Figures Being Reissued

Totally unexpected! I already have both figures, but we'll see if there are any improvements in terms of paint apps with the new releases...they could be better than the originals, like the Ultimate Part 4 Jason was, or worse, like the Ultimate Part 3 Jason was. But either way I'll probably pick them both up again just to get my hands on more cheap headcrabs and portal guns...

Hopefully the re-release of Gordon will be successful enough that NECA will consider making a proper Headcrab Zombie figure...until then, I'll have to settle for my own custom figure:

That is quite cool! Resident Evil zombie used for the body?

And so much bummage that we're never getting another Half-Life game. I'm still pissed that they left us hanging with a cliffhanger that will never be resolved after Episode 2...Valve are such dicks to do that to their fans.

Thanks! And a nice guess on the base body, but it's actually pieced together from a few different Mezco Heroes (the old TV show) figures. A neat aspect of those figures is the fact that the torsos are completely solid, so I was able to dremel into the chest to create a cavity to insert the lungs (made from the forearms of a GI Joe Retaliation Roadblck figure), broken ribs, and intestines. I forget where I got the hands from.

Although you were part-right...the head underneath the Headcrab IS from a NECA RE zombie figure...it plugged perfectly into the Heroes figure's neck hole with only minimal modding required.

I somewhat recently picked up Neca's Atlas and P-Body, and was looking for a Chell for a bit, but gave up hope due to the aftermarket prices.

I left them in package due to all the small pipes and wires, but wanted to open Chell if I got her, now I will be able to do that! Also I wonder if they will be packaged in the blister packs or in the newer window box package that most of their Player select lines come in?

Probably going to pass on Freeman. Again.
I used to be a huge Half-Life fan and even though I couldn't care less about the games at this point, I'd kinda want a Gordon figure. That said, I still think the face is awfully generic, he is so damn chunky for some reason, and the suit all but lacks the signature "collar". NECA sure took a lot of liberties on this one, which is a shame.

The release says they're coming in window boxes, probably like how the recent Predator re-releases were handled.

"A lot of liberties"...? Other than a slightly fuller face, the NECA Gordon figure looks pretty spot-on to me.

FYI, the pics they are using for the promos are from 2013. I'm guessing paint won't be 100% the same.

Yeah, I figured...I'm wondering if the paint will be improved or worse when compared to the 2013 figures. For example, NECA's Part 4 Jason re-release looked way better than the original figure, but the Part 3 re-release's paint looked like ass compared to the first one. So it could go either way.

Didn't they switch from painting the arms to using the translucent resin when they re-released the Aliens Marines?

I hope they go that route with these as well. I just feel like my Rocky Figures look like real people and a huge part of that is the lack of paint I think. The resin they use for skin is top-notch!

  16. Dolemite's Avatar Dolemite says

    02-08-2018, 01:28 PM

I'd be down with that as well. Plus, like with the Colonial Marine re-releases, it would make it much easier to tell the different releases apart, and those who own the originals will still have unique figures in a sense.

Hey Neca while you're at it how about re-releasing the Dead Space figures? Aftermarket prices are crazy on those and I need Isaac and some xeno's for my shelf!

The light-up DS1 Isaac is such a rad figure. I managed to snag the one that came with the cool-ass buzzsaw weapon for a decent price.

There's something about Gordon Freeman that reminds me of those games where you could use a cheat to play as one of the game's programmers, or where they'd use the faces of the staffmembers/programmers for generic enemies or corpses(like in Goldeneye and Mortal Kombat).

Like I said, his overall build is different from how he is usually portrayed, i.e. slimmer/taller. His chestpiece is supposed to form a large collar with a lot of padding which gives him a sort of a hump. That's his "iconic" look.

You're thinking of how he looked in Half-Life 1.
NECA Gordon Freeman and Chell Reissues-art-gordon-greybg.jpg
NECA's figure is based on Gordon's Half-Life 2 look, and it's very accurate. I don't see what the problem is.

No, I'm thinking HL2. The collar is not as giant as the original, but it is still very prominent. There are more pics in the attachments.
The figure just seems kind of phoned in, as if NECA just wanted to make a famous character they did not care about while they had a deal with Valve. Or maybe it was something Valve wanted them to make.

  25. Dolemite's Avatar Dolemite says

    02-09-2018, 08:57 AM

Okay, I see now what you're talking about with the collar/neck padding - it might have been changed slightly due to articulation issues - but otherwise I think the figure looks great and certainly not "phoned in." It's clearly recognizable as Gordon Freeman, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
