The newest Ghostbusters Select Action Figures are in stores now from Diamond Select Toys. After completing their massive Roof Top Diorama from the first Ghostbusters film, they set their sites on the second film. Starting with Ghostbusters Series 6, fans will be able to assemble the front of the Ghostbusters Firehouse by collection Series 6 through 10. Each figure will include pieces to the diorama, including both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 signage to hang over the doorway. Most of the figures will deal with the second film, with the last couple waves including figures from The Real Ghostbusters cartoon series! Today we are taking a look at the first two assortments of the Firehouse Diorama waves; Ghostbusters Select Series 6 and Series 7.

Overall
Like all Select series action figures from DST, these come in the familiar book-ish style packaging, with a large clear window in the front, artwork on the side and details on the back. The figures are packed in plastic trays, held in by twist ties and other plastic ties. Each of the Ghostbusters includes interchangeable hands and additional related accessories. Winston includes the Slime Blower, while the other three have proton packs and streams. Winston also includes a mounted zombie head, Egon includes a glass with slime. Egon and Ray include Santa hats as well. Jaosz includes a baby Oscar, a lenticular Vigo painting, and alternate hands for Vigo. The Vigo figure has no additional accessories (other than the dio part).
The Ghostbusters Select line has been running for about 2 years now. If you’re a long time follower or collector of the line, then you will be quite familiar with the approach DST has taken on these. These are very much more of the same style, and in many cases, the same main figures that have been released before. The figure stand roughly 7″ tall and have about 16 points of articulation. There were some paint locked joints, mainly on the legs of the Ghostbusters themselves. The Ghostbusters main bodies and accessories are pretty much identical to all of the previously released versions. They do feature updated paint applications and/or Ghostbusters 2 specific decos, and in the case of Winston and Louis, new head sculpts. The sculpts are solid on those, with the head sculpts being a bit hit or miss with the likenesses. The two all new figures in the series are Vigo and Janosz, and they turned out fairly well for what they are. It is funny to have a Peter MacNicol figure, and his likeness is actually pretty good. The Vigo figure, to me, was the real star of these two assortments. He looks great in hand, with a solid head sculpt and decent articulation.
The paint apps are were there’s some issues, mainly on some of the head sculpts. There’s misaligned eyes and paint bleed around some of the lips and showing teeth. Winston, Louis and Vigo fair the best of the bunch. There are also some odd scratches on heads like Ray’s and Vigo’s. the paint on the outfits, and detail lines for things like name tags and insignias are all fine.
Accessories and extra parts are where these figure shine, though. Each of the Ghostbusters is jam packed with extra hands, walkie-talkies, traps, PKE Meters, and effects parts. This gives a ton of display options. Janosz has probably the best new accessories in the Vigo painting and the baby Oscar (with articulated arms). Combine those with the dio pieces to form the massive firehouse diorama, and you get pretty good value all around.
The newest Ghostbusters Select figures fit in perfectly with the previously released versions. They’re all around solid releases with a few hiccups here and there. The massive amount of accessories and some deep roster characters are definite highlights here. The Firehouse dio is going to be outstanding when completed, and that will make these figures worth the price of admission for many.
