In-Packaging Photo of The Fog Captain Blake Figure

Posted on April 16, 2018 at 1:12 pm by Joe Moore under Horror Toy News

NECA has teamed up with Cavity Colors (who produces some great horror themed merchandise) to design the packaging art for the upcoming The Fog – Captain Blake 8″ Scale Retro Mego Style Figure. Cavity Colors has revealed the first look at the packaging for the figure, which is due out this Fall. As a side note, they will be offering some official tees for The Fog starting April 18th! Click the banner to check out the full photo.

Bolt your doors… lock your windows… there’s something in the fog! From John Carpenter’s 1980 horror film The Fog, the vengeful ghost of Captain Blake joins NECA’s clothed action figure line.

Blake is dressed in tattered fabric uniform and comes with a sword accessory that fits in a sheath at his belt. Blister packaging with resealable protective clamshell features new artwork created just for this release.

Instant buy. Love the film and never expected NECA to make this. Figured if anyone would, it would have been Amok Time. But damn it, I want The Thing figures. You can't tell me that's too obscure and then do a figure from The Fog.

Seriously, I don't get why it's so hard! PCS has stopped answering questions about thier Macready so it's pretty much assumed they cancelled it, but The Thing would be a better seller than ReAnimator or Fog figures... I thibk when Randy says something is too obscure that's code for "we don't wanna bother with it"

I don't think that's the case. I know he was possibly pursuing the license at one point to do a Mego MacReady, but PCS announced their stuff soon after that. Likeness rights could be an issue there. But damn, at Least Mac and the Norris Spider Head would be a seller.

Agreed, I have all the Movie Maniacs Thing figures but I would love to upgrade! I wish Jerry Maculoso or whatever his name is at PCS would just flat-out say whether it is or isn't happening so they could let other people take a stab at it :P I dunno if they own the exclusive rights to make Thing toys or what though haha

Jerry stepped down as owner/CEO of PCS, and stayed on as just a sculptor. There's a new guy in charge there now.

Currently streaming on Shudder (fantastic inexpensive streaming service that's nothing but Horror/Sci-Fi). I use JustWatch.com to check where movies may be streaming:

This might be one of the most out of nowhere surprise figures we've seen from neca. Anything classic John Carpenter has my attention, but I have to see the final product to know if I'll get it. After the disastrous quality of their Snake Plissken figure, I've stayed away from the retro cloth mego style figures.

That being said, I like that NECA is trying to make figures that you would never expect, and Blake here does look nice. My only gripe would be that he's lacking when it comes to accessories. Would have been cool to include the gold cross.

I also agree, there are other Carpenter movies that we'd love to have figures from, but for one reason or another they aren't happening - the thing, big trouble in little china, they live. Just to name a few.

Shudder has a free trial. If you use Roku, they also play 3-4 free movies at a time as a broadcast.

You are absolutely right. We need to get on Randy's ass to do a MacReady ASAP.

Frankly, I'd cream if NECA made a full set of the entire Outpost 31 crew ala their Hateful Eight set. It'll never happen, but how awesome would THAT be?

He said today he's been working Universal, who owns most of the Carpenter properties, to do a big licensing deal for all that stuff. That was a deal I know he's been working on (perhaps off and on) for at least a few years.

Ooohhhh I really hope that pans out, I'd kill for a NECA 7" Macready (Hell, I'd even take a clothed 8" one!)

This figure is really awesome! Definitely out of nowhere, this is what got me into NECA so many years ago. Obscure figures, especially Cult Classics and Horror Movies.
I too hope for “The Thing” figures, at least a mego of Mac with a spider head dude. Always wanted an “American Werewolf in London” wolf as well. Probably PCS at fault here, they still have the rights most likely.

Hey, you've got connections with NECA 'cuz of that Casey Jones mask, holler at 'em to work harder at getting The Thing license!
