Mortal Kombat Shao Kahn Bloody Edition Figure by Storm Collectibles

Posted on November 29, 2017 at 11:57 am by Joe Moore under Video Game Toy News

Toyark sponsor Big Bad Toy Store has opened up pre-orders for the Mortal Kombat – Shao Kahn 1/12 Scale “Bloody Edition” Figure. The figure, by Storm Collectibles, will be a Bluefin Exclusive. Other than being a blood splattered version, the figure looks to be the same as the standard Shao Kahn figure. The figure includes interchangeable hands, a removable helmet, a hammer, and a throne. It’s priced at $94.99 with a release set for February 2018. Read on to see the photos.

Shao Kahn first appears in Mortal Kombat II in 1993 as the final boss and main antagonist. Shao Kahn was Outworld’s protector and an advisor to the realm’s rulers, Onaga. The Mortal Kombat tournament prevents him from taking the realm by force, but if Shao Kahn’s champions win 10 consecutive tournaments, Earthrealm will be his. As long as his champions Shang Tsung and Price Goro do not fail him, he will be victorious.

  • Blood splattered Special Edition

The pointing fingers for trash talkin' action is a nice touch. And the throne is also great.

Anyone know if Storm has worked out their QC issues? Ryu and M. Bison had terrible cracks in the shoulder sockets, that many have said Storm intentionally did to minimize shoulder joints from breaking, but it was kinda shooting themselves in the foot. Luckily my Ryu is ok, but I will wait to see if this too has that issue before shelling out the money for this.

Iam also interested in more Mortal Kombat Figures from Storm Collectibles but:

    - Never liked the Designs of the first Mortal Kombat
Sub Zero / Scorpion look stupid; always liked the Mix from
Ninja & Knight Armor from Scorpion in MK 7-10

    - hope there will be more Figures from Mortal Kombat 3 - 10
like: Sektor, Goro, MK 10 HANZO HASASHI, Dragon King Onaga,
MK 10 Sub Zero / UNMASKED Kuai Lian.

MK 10 Hanso Hasashi would be an Instant Buy for me, no matter from which Company the Figure would come from.

Storm Collectibles really has Potential, but i REALLY hope
    they go PAST MK 1 & 2

A Goro or Onaga would have so much Potential.

I really want to see their Cyrax Figure in Full Color!

Besides is there an UNMASKED Picture of Shao Kahn???
Because it is mentioned that he comes with his Helmet, so i assume
    the Helmet is removable??

I'm the exact opposite... I love mk1-3 and find the 3D MK to be crap. really wish they would go back to digitizing actors. It's gotten too cartoony/comicbookish, and lost the 70's/80's chopsocky vibe.

Gore is in the works. He was shown in 2016.

Looking forward to these. Really hasn't been a decent attempt at MK since infinite concepts went bankrupt. This looks massive.

simply put, the proportions look off to me i.e. the legs are short.......
in fact, looking at all the figures released by Storm I d say that this is a recurring problem (some of them are borderline ok, while others have a slight issue).

Maybe because he's so jacked and massive it gives off that look because his arms look stubby as well, but I don't think they actually are. Just an illusion due to his sheer mass.

Total opposite also, I like the new games, but I would have zero interest in figures based on those designs. The first two games are fairly iconic in their looks. I'm sure the ability to just reuse the same molds has some effect on their design picks also. They're doing the robots so they're going to MK3 for part of the designs, but doesn't seem like they're tackling the new stuff with this line. I'm totally fine with that.

iam also really not Interested in MOST of the entire Characters
    from MK 1 - MK 10

For example Cyrax and Sektor are a MUST for me...
Childhood Memory from MK3 times you know
    Cyrax Helicopter Fatality

as well as..well Hanzo Hasashi and Kuia Liang from MK 10.
I really really NEED those, does not matter what scale
1/12 or 1/6 does not matter, but a Figure from both of them
with Removable Masks would be really awesome!

It is so hard enough to see them without the masks already
But in MK 10, without their...Assassin / Ninja Outfit
    they looked awesome for me.

    Also highly interested in Kabal
(Maybe also with removable Mask, to see the burnt Flesh under)

But Yeah MK 3 had some VERY good Characters...would also grab
MK 3 Liu Kang and MK 3 Shang Tsung.

But i do not know about MK 1 Liu Kang + Dragon.

Have to see pictures in Color from Liu and Cyrax first.
But iam sure i will buy them, hope Sektor also follows.

But in any case, i have already wrote Storm Collectibles and asked if they can
make more MK 3 Characters as well as some of the new ones, like Hanzo.

Will grab Goro when he comes out.

Same here! Amazing looking figure. Anybody that thinks different should look up Jazwares Shao Kahn lol Rejoice! We finally have some killer MK figures! I love that they even went with the original MK Trilogy version of Kahn. This has always been a grail.

You mean you didn't see that huge difference in the face sculpt?! Lol
If you look at picture 13 (I think) you can see his teeth showing. I imagine he will have a removable helmet, but I wonder if it'll be like the Ninjas. Yes you can remove it but he has a hole in his head. Until we see an unmasked head, I assume that's the way he'll be made. I hope he has a full unmasked head sculpt though....he would be perfect!

It seems that one sculpt has his mouth closed and the other with his teeth gritting. Honestly it was pretty hard to tell until I looked at separate close ups.

Maybe it hasn't been shown. It'll be him unmasked with his Goro-like head from the MK2 mail-in comic?

**Edit... never mind... looks like the helmet is a separate piece that clips on, so maybe it's facial expressions? Hard to tell since the mask head covers most of the face**

I just got my scorpion and Subzero and they are amazing (link cleverly hidden in signature)
I'm 100% heartfelt committed to this line, if Storm Collectibles is too. These are very well built figures. The plastic of the tunics feels like the soft skins of the Kenner Jurassic Park line (which have held up beautifully after 20 years)

He's pretty cool looking, he's not all black like I thought. Some parts like his arms and heads are really dark translucent plastic. I got him at the show so I only paid $50+tax, but I don't think I would've gotten him if he didn't come with the blood effects.

A side note, the blood effects are 2 parts and are made of the same soft rubbery material as the hands. I would've liked if they were hard plastic and could lock in together some way so the decapitated head can be right off the figure. You gotta finagle it a little to hold the soft blood effects together.
