Marvel Legends Black Panther Wave Packaged Shots from MCM London 2017

Posted on October 27, 2017 at 7:05 am by Joe Moore under Marvel Toy News

Some new photos of the Marvel Legends Black Panther Wave 6″ Scale Figures are on display at MCM London 2017. The photos give us a look at the new assortment in packaging, and looks to confirm that Okoye (played by The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira) will be a Build-A-Figure for the wave. Included in the photos are:

  • Black Panther
  • Erik Killmonger
  • Invincible Iron Man
  • Sub-Mariner
  • Black Bolt
  • Nakia

Also on display were numerous other Black Panther toys, most, if not all have been seen before. The photos come via In Demand Toys. A few more photos come via Hero Collections as well. You can check them out after the jump.

ID Toys have posted some shots on their Facebook page of the new Marvel Legends Black Panther wave Marvel Legends, boxed, revealing the BAF and two other figures. Looks like we're getting another Okoye (Danai Gurira's character in the movie) as the BAF, along with Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) as individual figures in the wave. Those who were hoping for Man Ape BAF (me included) are set for disappointment! Hopefully Okoye will be good enough in both movie and toy form to help relieve some of that disappointment.

These figures are on display (not for sale) at MCM London.

Nice! As a rule I prefer large BAFs but using the tooling budget to include an extra female character we otherwise wouldn't get (as with Mantis and presumably Okoye) doesn't bother me.

Update: ID Toys have just confirmed to me that the figure to the left of Killmonger is indeed Black Panther - but the cabinet is sealed and they couldn't get a good shot. I've also asked for some pics of the back of the boxes, if they can get them.

Judging by the torso, Okoye may be a retool of Mantis. After all, they did make that mold to be a BAF...

I think it's looking more like Nakia. Perhaps they're both heavy retools of Mantis - and slightly tweaked from each other.

No probs! I'm happy to give back. My first ToyArk news credit (or assist at least)!

I think I'll be in for the wave... Hopefully ID will put up preorders soon.

That would make a lot of sense. They spent money tooling the Mantis BAF mould, might as well re-use it if possible.

Kudos to Hasbro. I was severely worried this wave might just end up as Panther, Killmonger and a bunch of unrelated white characters (because of the perception black figures don't sell).

So the BAF is a figure that is already in a regular package (Nakia)? That doesn't make sense.

  12. RoboSnuf's Avatar RoboSnuf says

    10-27-2017, 06:18 AM

No, the BAF is Okoye. Nakia is individually packaged.

WTF did you get that perception? Make me a classic Sam Wilson Falcon, classic James Rhodes War Machine, classic Man Ape, classic 80s Photon, to go along with my classic BP,and I'm all over them I bought Copperhead cuz that's a cool villain and he's Black. Had they made the Netflix version, that woulda stayed on the shelves. But since these are MCU figs based on actors, maybe that's why they are not selling as well. Has nothing to do with the color of their skin.

damn, you guys are fast. i just got this news from a social media page for figures that i follow. but then again i woke up pretty late.
they should have kept the 'Killmonger" name only as one word instead of putting 'Erik killmonger' sounds kinda lame. im buying all of them. this i approve.

FYI: figures are never for sale when on display at a show and the original poster should have put 'London Comic con' many people dont know it as "MCM London"

Oh no! Not the dreaded "Kill" word. Cuz ya know, people haven't been killing people since Cain killed Abel with a rock.

With Black Panther himself - which there wasn't a shot of in the first batch. Check the front page story, the later photos are all in there now - as well as some more recently posted official pics (linked separately from the homepage).

I'm hoping the case assortment is 1 of everyone along with duplicates of Black Panther and Nakia. That way, collectors can purchase a case, swap the extra Okoye head onto Nakia, add a splash of red paint and they've got another Dora Milaje. Then there's only an extra BP to rehome...

It'll probably be 2x BP, 2x Tony though, because Hasbro.

Sorry dude - noted for next time. There are other London comic cons though, so I shall try to be both more specific and aware of my abbreviations/lack of information in future.

I can’t help but see Black Bolt banging his arms & screaming to get out.
Totally dig the line up and can’t wait to catch the movie next year.
