Posted on October 16, 2017 at 12:19 pm by Joe Moore under DC Toy News

The newest solicitations have been released by DC Collectibles. They announced that the popular Batman Black And White Statue line will now be turned into a new line of 6.75″ scale action figures! The first assortment of figures have been revealed as have some new statues and replicas. Check out the info below and the new photos after the jump.

DC COLLECTIBLES’ ‘BATMAN BLACK & WHITE’ STATUES WILL BUST A MOVE IN JUNE 2018 AS POSEABLE 6.75’’ ACTION FIGURES

New Action Figure Line Features Iconic Batman Designs from Award-Winning Artists Jim Lee, Greg Capullo and More

Exciting Summer Lineup Includes ‘DC Artists Alley’ Variants, ‘Dark Nights: Metal’ Statue and Life-Size Joker Cane

DC Collectibles is gearing up for a fun-filled June 2018 stocked with enough new statues, action figures and collectibles to please both DC’s most dedicated fans and those just starting out with their collections. Headlining DC Collectibles’ June releases is an all-new Batman Black & White action figure line based on the company’s bestselling statue line of the same name. The moveable 6.75’’ action figures will debut alongside the first wave of DC Artists Alley designer vinyls that will now feature three new black and white variants. DC Collectibles will also release a stunning 12’’ statue based on the critically acclaimed DARK NIGHTS: METAL comic book series and new additions to its Harley Quinn: Red, White & Black and DC Gallery lines.

After 75+ statues and counting, DC Collectibles is transforming its longest running and most popular line of Batman Black and White statues into highly detailed, articulated 6.75’’ action figures. The first wave debuts in June 2018 and stars Jim Lee’s Batman from BATMAN: HUSH, Greg Capullo’s Batman from BATMAN: DEATH OF THE FAMILY and Batman from the Super Hero’s first appearance in DETECTIVE COMICS #27.

DC Collectibles will also add three black and white variants to its first wave of DC Artists Alley designer vinyls that features the popular art style of Chris Uminga. Announced earlier this year, the upcoming DC Artists Alley line celebrates offbeat artists and allows them to put their unique spin on DC’s most popular characters. The first wave of figures, including the newly announced variants, showcase Uminga’s take on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

DC Collectibles is also bringing to life the gruesome, axe-wielding Batman from Greg Capullo’s DARK NIGHTS METAL #1 variant cover as a 12’’ DC Designer Series statue. This original take on Batman will be joined by a new Harley Quinn: Red, White and Black statue by Jae Lee and a life-size replica of The Joker cane. The cane features an intricately designed Joker-themed handle and is an accessory sure to enhance your swagger.

I like the Black and White figures, but these are just repaints of existing figures. I'll probably get them, with the hopes that they will expand to other ones, specifically Norm Breyfogle.

Next wave of Black & White figures are probably going to be Ed McGuinness and Alex Ross versions.

No Capullo, Metal Batman on BBTS, but everything else seems to be there. Did I already miss the pre-order, is it already sold out

They got budget to produce these black and white figure toyline that no one asked for but they don't have budget for the DC Films figures that everyone wants. GREAT STRATEGY DCC. I won't be surprised if they stopped doing action figures in the next 3 or 4 years.

Well I understand the black and white figure line since they're just repaints of figures they already did, and the black and white statue line sells pretty well for them, but I agree that they shoulda continued the DC movie figures. The 50+ dollar price obviously killed it, and their reasoning that it had to be that high because Mattel has the master license for DC toys reeked of BS. If Mattel sells thier figures for around 20, make yours 30-35, and that'll justify the extra pieces you include. Really hoping NECA is able to do another 7" Toys R Us exclusive wave and have their Batfleck in it...

A master toy license holder (like Mattel) gets to dictate everything with what can and can't be produced and sold by other licensees. While DCC is a subsidiary of DC Comics, the toy rights still default to Mattel and they need to go through them for approval on any product that can be seen (by Mattel) as being a competing item.

We've seen this already with Hasbro and SH Figuarts Marvel items, which have to be sold at the $100 price point in North America. That is why the Bluefin editions always include additional items, so they can get the price in line. We've also seen it with NECA, who has to jump through hoops to do TMNT items and can then only sell them in the US.

Also, the interest seemed very lackluster for the DC Movie items they revealed and the general price point. The market was (and still is) utterly saturated with 6 inch or so collector oriented Batman v Superman items and there's were coming way after. It just made no sense to start with those if they weren't going to be timed to hit retail when the movie was out.

As far as more DC 7" figures from NECA, they've said that the stand alone releases are likely done. they are focusing on the Dark Horse and DC 2-Packs (which have been a licensing nightmare).

Well, poop :P I still like more coulda been done, but what do I know about the inner workings of toy companies XD

(Also, on the subject of more standalone DC figures: I've seen NECA out and out say they WILL NOT be doing certain characters or licenses, then the very next month/week/day, announce they're making it and even have in progress photos showing it's been in the works for a while, So forgive me for thinking they might just be playing coy... )

In his Twitter responses it sounded more like it was the 2-packs that were outright replacing the stand alone releases. If you look at the original release dates set for the Batman vs Alien Joker set, that was supposed to take the DC holiday slot for 2017. Here was one of Randy's last posts on it:

Well if that is indeed the case and we DON'T get a 7" Burt Ward Robin to go with Adam West Batman, I know a lotta collectors will be veeeery cheesed off...

Not saying I want the DC/Dark Horse packs to be canned, but if they were I would hope the 7" movie figures would come back yknow? But that's just wishful thinking

It's gonna be interesting to see how Neca reuses those Batman and Superman sculpts after the 2-packs eventually get released.
