Star Wars Black Series vehicles are back in the mix with 02 Luke and his X-34 Speeder and 03 Rey and her Speeder. They join the 01 Tie Fighter from a couple years ago. These are much more reasonable for collectors without warehouse level display space though. Today we are taking a look at Rey and her Speeder from The Force Awakens. The set comes with Rey in scavenger gear, including a removable face wrap. The vehicle has netting, a chunk o junk to slap on the side to recreate a successful run, moving pedals and joysticks for steering, a display stand so it can hover, and multiple panels that open to reveal the inner workings of the ride. Overall it’s a really well done piece. Read on to check out some additional thoughts and over 60 HD images courtesy of Dorkside Toys!
This was a surprisingly solid piece. I am a bit Rey’d out, and most of her figures have been sub-par up till now, so another with an expensive ride that’s unique to her didn’t get me hype at first. The figure is the best Rey figure to date though, the combo of soft goods and plastic work here. The head sculpt is sharp, the lower face is the closest to the actress yet on Black Series. The extra backpack and pouches really fill out the figure and give her that Scavenger feel.
The vehicle is well done as well. Lots of opening panels, the interior also has great sculpting going on. She sits on the back without too much trouble. The stand pops in via ball joint and holds it in any position you want, so it’s great for getting dynamic swooping positions. Just executed well. Only thing that could be improved, a tad more weathering to dirty it up. It looks too “new” like this.
So bottom line, happy with it, and this will be my first Rey figure that stays in rotation on the shelves. Paired up with BB-8 and Finn it’ll be a nice little showing.
