Way back at Toy Fair 2017, it was confirmed that the Gremlins 2: The New Batch – Mohawk Gremlin 7″ Scale Figure would be getting released this year by NECA Toys. The figure actually saw a release in their Video Game Appearance line back in 2015. Mohawk is the sinister leader of the new batch of Gremlins from the second film. In the movie he acts far more aggressive than the other Gremlins. Mohawk is defined by his red fish-like fin, which runs from his head down to his back. Later in the movie, Mohawk would ingest a spider serum, which would turn him into the fan favorite Spider Gremlin (previously released by NECA). The new figure stands over 6″ tall and includes an Uzi machine gun!
NECA was kind enough to provide us with an advanced look at the upcoming figure. A release is currently slated for October, but Mohawk does not currently appear on the shipping list, which is likely still being finalized. After the jump, you can find my thoughts on the figure as well as a full gallery of the figure.

Overall
Mohawk is packaged in a plastic clamshell backer that fits in with the more recent Gremlins releases. The front features a photo of Mohawk’s portrait. The back includes a full photo of the Gremlin and a pic of the Ultimate Gizmo, which was previously released. The figure includes an Uzi machine gun accessory.
The Gremlins line has seen some of their best releases over the past couple years. With the Ultimate Gizmo, Bat Gremlin and Spider-Gremlin (not to mention the additional Mogwaii), NECA has crafted some great representations of these creatures. Mohawk continues that success with another excellent figure. This figure stands a little over 6″ tall, towering over the Mogwaii figures. The figure is nicely articulated, with about 15 total points. the elbows and knees are single jointed, but range of motion is excellent. There are no issues holding the gun with both hands and posing in a static or aiming pose. Extending the arms out, setting in a walking pose and more poses are all easy enough to achieve. The sculpt features a hinged jaw as well. NECA also corrected a problem I had with the NES version of the figure. The feet on that figure were a softer plastic, which made it hard to keep the figure standing. That is not a problem here, as the feet are a much harder plastic now and Mohawk has a much easier time standing. If desired, the bottoms of the feet have peg holes that can accommodate the NECA stands. The detail on the figure is exceptional. The figure is full of fine, intricate details. The gross, scaled skin looks great, with small spikes, horns, little bubbles all helping top give a film accurate look. The included Uzi is nice looking, with a pretty accurate sculpt. The gun is constructed in a harder plastic, so warping isn’t an issue.
The paint work on Mohawk is outstanding as well. There’s some great transitional paint work between the darker skin on his back, that fades smoothly into the lighter color on the front of the figure, the interior of the arms and the face. The are also colorful splashes of reds, yellows and greens throughout. The paint itself is clean with no noticeable issues and no misalignment. To give the figure a more realistic look, NECA used a clear coast over the entire figure. It seems to be heavier in areas like the gums and tongue, and applied more lightly on the skin. It gives the figure a nice sheen.
This turned out to be an excellent Gremlins release from NECA. While it’s not loaded with accessories, the sculpt and paint work are top notch. Mohawk looks great side-by-side with Gizmo or the Spider-Gremlin. If you’re a Gremlins fans, then Mohawk is highly recommended. Check out some highlight photos below and a full gallery after that.

Finally!
I've been wanting this figure so much lately- so much so, that I almost bought the NES version. This is the best news to come out of Toy Fair, for me! Preordering the hell out of this figure.
Coming next week. Full gallery of Mohawk! Here's a preview.

I haven't bought any Gremlins figures except for the Ultimate Gizmo, but this one looks so great, that I'll probably bite.

Now if only they'd make Greta!
Dream come true.
Wonderful pics.
I have the original Mohawk Neca released years ago, the the paint and articulation on this one are far superior, not to mention the face sculpt. Will definitely pick this one up.
He is a little more vibrant than I anticipated but I think I like it. I will be getting this I believe.
I wish I had not missed the spide gremlins though. He is really cool and difficult to get now reasonably priced.
The jaw hinge on his left side looks a little jacked up when it is open. Looks fine when closed but hangs left, kinda weird. What is up with that?
