Marvel Legends Odinson Thor Ragnarok Photo Shoot

Posted on September 6, 2017 at 7:21 pm by DESTRO under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

While fighting Nick Fury and his army of Life-Model Decoys, Fury stopped Thor by whispering him that Gorr the God-Butcher was right about the gods being selfish and not caring about mortals. This caused Thor to lose his confidence about his godhood and consequently his ability to wield Mjolnir. After losing the ability to wield Mjolnir, Thor took up his battle axe Jarnbjorn as a substitute.

Marvel Legends Odinson

Pros
Good alt design
Jarnbjorn is nicely detailed.

Cons
None

Overall
Odinson is one of those figures that Thor fans have been asking for. The Ragnarok movie allowed for this interesting design to find a home and to broaden the Thor line-up. It’s a solid take on the character and is perfectly simple in it’s design to give that pulled back feel. The Jarnbjorn weapon is nicely sculpted and helps sell the figure. Snap grab for me.

These are all on amazon prime and I just ordered Thor and Loki, Hela is unfortunately overpriced so I may hunt for her tomorrow at toys r us.

Not a bad figure, and I like that you can remove the shin armor. Doesn't really look like Hemsworth though, something is a little off IMO. It's a good representation of this particular design, if you like this look.

Every store in my area has this Thor and the Loki from this wave in various quantities but nobody else from the wave. I guess everybody in my area wants to complete that gladiator Hulk BAF and then Thor and Loki aren't in demand. The Thor looks okay and decent enough but to me a Thor figure without Mjolnir is not a Thor I want much at all. I am a bit baffled that all of my stores are already getting the Ragnarok wave in by this point but then absolutely none of the main retail stores got in any of the Homecoming wave at any point prior to the film or even up to release. My Walmart, Target, and TRU never got in a single case of the Homecoming wave at any given time but now they all have the Mantis GotG vol2 wave, the Marvel Knights/Netflix wave, and the Ragnarok wave.

I think this is my favorite look for Thor so far. I really like the short hair.

Of this wave, Thor, Loki, and Hela were the only ines I've seen (and bought).. I definitely want to complete gladiator hulk. It just sucks that I have to spend $60 on figures I have no interest in to do so.

Your targets didn't have a cardboard display with the homecoming legends?

There were displays for the movie but the only Legends figures were like White Tiger and Misty Knight, I even asked employees and was told the stores had received no new merch except for the more kid-oriented stuff.

That's kind of how it worked around here. I've been hitting Walmart hard looking for the Guardians wave, and noticed some of the Homecoming wave in a few. The funny thing is I think they are already listed as deleted and never really hit the shelves the way they should have. Just about every one I hit was doing a huge toy reset and getting in the Knights and Ragnarok waves. You might be able to snag a good deal on the Homecoming wave if you keep your eyes peeled here in the next month. I'm sure they got plenty of the stock at their D.C., but never distributed it right. I think Hasbro might be choking up the pipelines with all these waves so quick in secession.

Hela is definitely on my ever-growing list of favorite Marvel Legends figure of the year. She has such a great design and sculpt. Definitely a highlight in the line.

I love Hela. Just an awesome and unique-looking figure, and finding her at retail saved me a bundle on the SDCC comic book version that I can now happily skip. The headdress design is just flat-out astonishing. Also of note is how much taller her figure is than the average Marvel Legends figure. I guess she's tall in the movie!

As for the alternate head, I have to disagree with Destro on that one. I think it's dead-on for Cate Blanchett, the actress playing her in the movie. It's not off one iota, although yours does look a bit odd. Perhaps the paint apps are wonky? Here's mine:

I gotta go with the alternate head is great crowd. I think I like it a little bit better than the main headdress head.

She easily took the spot of best Marvel Legends toy of the year so far for me, and I don't think there's anything left in the tank from Hasbro this year that's going to top it.
