Tarkin and Jaina Solo are the key drops right now.

I pray the Thrawn pack comes onto HTS.com like the Kylo Ren did afterwards.

Really like that new 11 inch Ahsoka. I'll be picking that up for sure.

Is that Jaina Solo? Or Mara Jade? And if so, is this EU Legends, or are they becoming canon material officially?

So, I am a bit confused... the speeder and Thrawn will be solely sdcc exclusives or will there be non sdcc versions of them?

While I prefer the 6" line over the 3.75" line, I'm glad to see that TVC is coming back. Hopefully they'll re-release Cassian and the Scarif Stormtrooper since they never showed up at any of my local Walmarts. Voted for Bo-Katan in the Fans Choice poll.

I think all of the previous exclusives have had regular releases so I would assume that these will too.

    Who is Jaina Solo?

It's EU/Legends Jaina, she won last SDCCs fan poll. Not becoming canon.

In the old published-fanfic EU she was one of the children of Han and Leia. She's only getting a toy because a bunch of people trolled/spammed the voting system, that poll was an awful indicator of how upset people can horribly skew/abuse a system which allows return-voting.

Huh... it seems that the Commander Gree helmet that comes with the SDCC version of Thrawn is slightly different color-/decoration-wise from the one actually on the Gree figure. The one SDCC Thrawn comes with seems to be painted more like Gree's Phase I helmet like we saw in The Clone Wars (white with the green striping, and the green extends onto the fin/ridge on top of the helmet), while Gree's helmet on the Gree figure is more similar to how he appeared in RotS (silver helmet with the green striping, and none of the green extends onto the fin/ridge). Nice that they actually put that thought into it, shows a nice attention to detail.

Hopefully that means altering her legs. Everything about the sculpt was perfect except her knees were not where knees should be.

Last years Obi Kenobi was released, but missing the Leia hologram set. The fact that this is SDCC guts me. It's going to cost an obscene amount to get over here.

Tarkin is the only vaguely essential figure. None of these other characters really go with anything else or fit in anywhere, in my opinion, and Hasbro doesn't make enough of these to make obscure or unrelated characters when they haven't even finished certain "teams" or rounded out potential scenes. Sort of disappointing reveals. Hoping for better at SDCC.

That's always how it goes with Black Series SDCC exclusives. They're always figures that will see a regular release somewhat later, with something extra added in (plus a special box). There was Boba Fett with the Han in Carbonite, TFA Stormtrooper "preview" (?) version with a special box and booklet, same with Jyn Erso, there was Obi-Wan with the table, Kylo Ren with the burnt helmet and flag/stand, and more.

    It's the packaging style, mostly.

Depends on what you consider essential. For you, "essential" seems to mean main/prominent characters from the Original Trilogy. For others, essential could mean recognizable Clone Trooper characters, or Imperial trooper variants, or old EU characters (whether brought back into canon or not), or characters from Rebels. You can't determine what's """essential""" for somebody else.

Yeah... I still see it as classic packaging for updated figures. Rey isn't vintage, so it just doesn't work for me. I felt the same way when they did the prequel figs on vintage style cardbacks - easy passes for me.

His wide release will be on Force Friday this year.

EDIT: also something I noticed... the increased price of $24.99 is only for Gree, who's exclusive. The regular releases are still holding steady at $19.99. So maybe what someone said in another thread (either here on ToyArk or on another site, can't remember) was right: they're taking some of the feedback from the Black Series survey, and introducing some figures with more paint and/or accessories for a slightly increased price. Still not entirely sold on the concept, but at least they're not doing it for all figures in the line, just for exclusives.
