Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus Star Wars Black Series Rogue One Galleries

Posted on February 24, 2017 at 10:29 am by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Star Wars Black Series may be going old school with the 40th anniversary celebration later this year, but we still have some non-ANH figures to get to before that kicks off! Today we’re taking a look at the latest 2 Rogue One figures to drop – Baze Malbus and Chirrut Imwe. Arguably breakout stars from the film, their Black Series figures shine as they are complex and layered. Both face sculpts are above average for Black Series levels, which coupled with their unique sculpts head to toe make them winners. Let’s take a closer look after the break courtesy of Dorksidetoys!

Great figures. The bulky sculpt and diesel gun on Baze and the face sculpt and soft goods on Chirrut make these guys shine. It was fun having these guys bust up a pack of Troopers and they’ll do nicely for you too, standing proud or in the thick of the fight! Bottom line, awesome. Check the pics below and pick em up when you can!

They eyes actually aren't too terrible here. Paint looks pretty clean on the outfit. Liking the new backdrop a lot.

I'm surprised no store has had this stuff stocked yet like they did last year with The Force Awakens.

They are ok, but are painted in an "upward looking" position. So straight on or downward head poses it looks weird.

That's because Force Friday is at the end of the month this year instead of the beginning like last year. While many stores clearly don't care about that street date it seems like overall most will stick to it.

Very interested in the movie, not much so in the figures... but that group shot has me hesitating! Nice picture shoot, as always

She'd probably look more like Felicity Jones with some shading on her face. Or at least more like Gemma Arterton like the giant Jakks version.

That is one cool figure. Impressive that they managed to pack all that articulation in given the design, which I would think would make it difficult.

Ewww...I always thought that the Death Trooper figure looked off in the first place, but when you put him up next to the original trilogy Stormtrooper, the proportions look way off and it becomes more evident. I was originally excited for this one, but now that has been tempered a bit.

  20. Dolemite's Avatar Dolemite says

    09-29-2016, 07:52 AM

Yeah, isn't he a little...skinny for a Stormtrooper? I agree, he's way too lanky and his proportions are way off. Plus he's missing the bad-ass web gear that the Death Troopers wear in the movie. Not impressed.

I have to disagree because I think that thing is one extremely badass looking figure.

It's especially jarring given how skinny the Stormtrooper is in the first place.

Except that his armor gives him a filled out looked. The Death Trooper has a tiny head and elongated arms not to mention stands a foot taller then the regular Stormtrooper. It looks as if an alien species is wearing the armor... either that or Kevin Garnett retired from the NBA to join the Imperial Death Trooper ranks.

I am currently using the TIE fighter pilot from The Force Awakens as my Shadow Troopers/Death Troopers, and they fit in rather nicely. I am kind of hoping that the head to this stuff to her makes it to a casting site somewhere and is recasted in a slightly larger scale. I think it would look great on that particular figure as a sort of custom placeholder for my ranks, because overall, I'm really not digging the design or proportions of this guy.

The more I look at the Death Trooper figure the more it looks to me like the K-2SO figure with the sloping shoulders and tall/lanky frame. What if the Death Troopers are droids?! That would make them like the new canon versions of Dark Troopers (which is what I thought they were supposed to be) and this movie is already the new canon version of Dark Forces. The difference is that the Dark Troopers looked decidedly cooler.

Yes, so it becomes even more unsettling when you realise just how slender the Stormtrooper would actually be under his armour (and thus how much more so the Death Trooper).

I would add that Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors are also decidedly cooler than Cassian and Jyn (even if the former must get some credit for having one of the less stupid-sounding SW names in recent years)...

Anyway, the Death Trooper Specialist is apparently a Target exclusive:
