Mattel’s Wonder Woman Toys Get Revealed

Posted on February 13, 2017 at 8:57 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News

Entertainment Weekly have revealed some of the upcoming Mattel Wonder Woman toys due to drop this spring for the latest DCEU movie. What we see is mostly 11 or 12 inch figures, Barbie style, and a couple role play items thrown in at the end. This doesn’t necessarily cover the entire range of items, and there is no word either way if traditional action figures in 4 or 6 inch scale will be available. Read on to check the images and hit EW for the full scoop!

Deluxe, sword-wielding Wonder Woman figure ($19.99)
Gold training outfit with bow and arrow ($19.99)
True-to-scale fashion Wonder Woman ($14.99)
Blue evening gown with a concealed sword Wonder Woman ($14.99)
12-inch Diana figurine with armored horse ($29.99)
Queen Hippolyta with horse ($29.99)
Diana and Steve Trevor two-pack ($26.99)
Diana’s iconic sword role play ($19.99)
Role play bow with darts ($24.99)
Tiara and arm band role play ($9.99)

Interesting. I don't collect Barbies, but the Diana and Steve set is kinda tempting. Steve kinda reminds me of a GIJoe I had growing up.

Also, I think we've kown since NYCC last year that there would be a wave of Multiverse figures, plus that leak not too long ago, so we definitely know there's more to the line.

Can't wait to see the rest of the offerings. Right now these look great, but I was hoping for a more widespread approach as opposed to attempted gendered targeting of the lines.

The role play toys are awesome though! Those are perfect! That's a great start! And if there are Multiverse figures, that's a great thing too!

Still wish there was a 4'' line though. With how much focus it has on history and WWI, I would have thought they'd cater a little bit to the 1:18th scale crowd to at least throw them a bone of Diana in her wonder woman suit for them to have in their military Dios if they are superhero fans. That scene in the trailer with her holding the shield would be epic to see in that scale to recreate. So something Highly-poseable too.

Keeping my fingers crossed they try to do that as a freebie with a collector's version of the home media release. Like a throwback to the DC animated movies that did that with full on figures before they switched to statues.

That being said though. Those are magnificent renditions of the characters still. I hope they fly off shelves as fast as Diana herself!

I highly doubt we'll see any 1:18th scale from mattel, especially a woman superhero movie such as Wonder Women. I'm not opposed to it though It just seems like Mattel is staying away from 3.75-4" figures in 2016-2017 lines. I however do see them doing at least a few 6" figures in both the 6" kids line, amd the Multiverse line *if that's what they continue to call it. I know at least in my town Kmart and Walmart both sold those Multiverse figures for $5.00 or under and are still selling them now for the same price bc no one wants them I ended up buying a will Smith Deadshot and B v S Armored Batman for under 10.00 for both.

That said I really like that Wonder Women with shield and sword 11" figure! It looks like the same buck as She Ra last year. Isn't it? I'll buy that for 19.99 for women superhero collection

If this is true, then they will be staying away from my money too.

Not to mention small. The horses' backs looks ready to snap with a rider on top. If you straighten the legs on the riders, I think the rider can carry the horse.

That said, I don't collect Barbies and I don't have daughters, but if I do, I would gladly buy these for my daughters as these are more "action figures" than "fashion dolls". And they do look good!

No, this is clearly GIRL toys and for your and others wondering about the mediocre DC Multiverse line, Mattel is firstly and mainly GIRL toys company. He-Man and Shark Steet were exceptions and as you can see Mattel didn't know how to keep on their success.

Well, the original Gi Joes were ACTION DOLLS like these kind of Barbies. By the way, there is reguler way more articulated (even more then the lame DC Multiverse) Barbie line, called Made to Move. They have both double jointed knees and elbows, swivels in the shoulders and thighs and bust joint that move from side to side and up and down, as well up an down movement for the feet. I own one she is quite awesome, but her plastic doesn't have perfect finish, the joint for her ridiculous small feet is so damn loose and she can't stand to save her life. The worst thing is she have disgusting glue leeking out of her head which unacceptable! Barbies may have better articulation, but the quality went down the hill.

Yes, they're statues. I wonder why they don't make Made to Move horses to go along with the Made to Move Barbies.

Man I really miss the Multiverse line before they tanked it with 6 inch figures. But at least there's some stuff here I can get my niece if she wants it.

True, but when claiming a toy company mostly makes products for boys/girls, you can't just look at the ation figures/dolls they produce, you've got to look at the whole picture.

    Never said there was.

Still Mattel mostly makes girl toys and better at maintaining them. Hot Wheels are just small Die Cast car toys, not that really hard to desgin or make.

It's sounds like you feeling bad for owning one or liking it:/. Sorry, it's sometimes hard to understand the context when you can't hear the tone of how things were said.
