Consumer Products (WBCP) unleashes a DC Super Hero takeover with its roster of global licensees and partners during Toy Fair 2017 season, including International Toy Fair Nuremberg (February 1–6) and International Toy Fair New York (February 18–21). The Wonder Woman feature will also be supported by global partners The LEGO Group with an exciting construction set inspired by adventurous moments from the film, and Rubie’s Costume Co. with a new line of Wonder Woman movie-inspired costumes and accessories for fans of all ages.

Additional licensees with toy offerings include Funko, with fan-favorite stylized collectible figures; Neca, with 18-inch replica figures; Tonner Dolls, with detailed-design 18-inch fashion dolls; Madame Alexander, with 11-inch fashion dolls; Hot Toys, with highly detailed collectible figures; Kotobukiya, with high-end collectible statues; Mezco and QMX with stylized figures; Jada Toys, with mini-metal figures; Schleich with collectible figures; Sakar International, with electronics and accessories; and many more worldwide.

Pictures’ forthcoming action adventure Justice League, and stars in DC Super Hero Girls, the fun, multi-level brand which showcases some of DC’s most famous female Super Heroes and Super-Villains as teenagers.

JUSTICE LEAGUE
From the core comic books and the brand-new Justice League Action animated series, to the upcoming explosive feature film, the Justice League universe has no limits and invites fans of all ages to be part of the world’s most recognizable Super Hero team: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg.

Already touted as one of the most eagerly awaited films of 2017, Justice League will inspire a global program fit for the biggest Super Heroes in the world as they arrive together for the very first time on the big screen November 17. WBCP will roll out a massive global merchandise program that will feature the fan-favorite DC Super Heroes in a myriad of toy lines and programs, bringing the film to life for collectors and kids alike.

Global master toy licensee Mattel will be developing an empowering line, including action figures inspired by the most iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains, playsets, vehicles, collectible figures, and will introduce a full line of action role-play toys highlighted by the much-anticipated Multiverse™ line, which captures the superior accuracy and details of the film’s characters. Also supporting Justice League is global partner The LEGO Group, with exciting construction sets inspired by memorable scenes from the film, and Rubie’s Costume Co., with a full range inspired by the Justice League feature film, including costumes and accessories for kids and adults.

Additional toy partners supporting the film include Funko, with a Justice League collection of stylized figures; Jakks Pacific, with their popular large-sized collectible figures for this epic action-adventure; Jada Toys, with metal figurines; and many others around the world.

THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE
The new family-friendly animated adventure from director Chris McKay and the team behind the blockbuster hit The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie will stand a brick above the rest in the LEGO showroom at International Toy Fair New York as WBCP and The LEGO Group display more than 10 original construction sets recently launched at retail.

Designed for kids, kids at heart, and collectors, The LEGO Batman Movie collection includes 18 LEGO construction sets as well as a full line of 20 exclusive minifigures, featuring exclusive versions of characters from the film. Fans can also build on iconic environments and moments from the film with The LEGO Batman Movie: The Batmobile set, which lets fans rev up hours of fun racing through Gotham City or smashing through any obstacle in The Dark Knight’s way; and The LEGO Batman Movie: Batcave Break-in set, which invites fans to defend the Batcave from The Penguin, utilizing a range of Batsuits that allow them to take on Super-Villains via air, land or sea. Additionally, all-new LEGO BrickHeadz based on Batman, Robin, Batgirl and The Joker from the film will launch in March. The LEGO Batman Movie crashes into theaters beginning February 10, 2017.

DC SUPER HERO GIRLS
With many accolades and multiple award nominations for 2017, including “License of the Year,” the DC Super Hero Girls licensing and merchandising program from WBCP and DC Entertainment continues to expand and empower girls to reach their own heroic potential. Harnessing the power of the world’s most iconic female Super Heroes and Super-Villains from the DC Universe, DC Super Hero Girls follows Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Bumble Bee, Poison Ivy, Katana and many more, during their formative years, as they learn about teamwork, friendship and to hone their super powers as teenagers and in a high school setting.

Soaring into the New Year with all-new action-packed collections, DC Super Hero Girls continues to engage young fans with original content and product across multiple categories, offering kids even more chances to play, watch, read and be inspired to discover their full potential.

Featuring products that remain consistently in-demand amongst consumers and retailers alike, WBCP and master toy partner Mattel offer fans all-new Action Dolls, Action Figures and Action Role-Play toys from the beloved DC Super Hero Girls collection, with a new rollout of characters, along with new vehicles and gadgets, slated for Spring and Fall 2017, as girls can play out the narrative of their favorite teenage DC female Super Heroes and save the day. The DC Super Hero Girls’ Mattel collection features the industry’s first-ever 6-inch action figures designed for girls, the first 12-inch collection of action dolls featuring strong, athletic bodies that stand on their own in heroic poses.  In 2016, the Mattel toy line has also received much recognition, including a TOTY nomination in the Action Figure category for the DC Super Hero Girls Action Figures.

The LEGO Group assembles a strong offering, capturing the empowering characters and storylines in six original construction sets for kids around the world to imagine their super building powers as they play and recreate action-packed moments together with their favorite DC Super Hero characters.  LEGO® DC Super Hero Girls sets include Batgirl Batjet, Harley Quinn to the Rescue, Super Hero High School, along with the recently released sets of Lashina Tank, Bumblebee Helicopter, and Wonder Woman Dorm Room, allowing fans to build on non-stop fun and adventure. Additional global partners include Rubie’s Costumes, with its girl-power collection of costumes and accessories; Funko, with must-have stylized, vinyl figures; and many others.

TEEN TITANS GO! and JUSTICE LEAGUE ACTION
WBCP and Mattel join forces to provide fans with two new lines in support of the hilariously-fun hit animated series Teen Titans Go! and the power-packed Justice League Action. These toy lines capture the action, fun, humor and personalities of the DC Super Heroes with action figures, core characters and vehicles inspired by scenes from the all-new animated series infusing both heroic storylines from Justice League Action and humor throughout the toy line from Teen Titans Go!

Teen Titans Go! follows the hilarious adventures of Super Heroes Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy and showcases the comedic chaos that ensues whether they’re fighting crime or fighting each other for that last piece of pie. The Teen Titans Go! program also includes a collection of fan-favorite Funko figures, featuring a lineup of these wildly funny Super Heroes.

WBCP will also bring Justice League Action for all the Justice League fans out there, with Mattel launching its upcoming all-new toy line of action figures and vehicles, as the freshman animated series Justice League Action brings together all the elements of “where fun meets action!”

WBCP’s POWERFUL PORTFOLIO
WBCP also continues to support a strong DC TV slate with The Flash, Arrow and Gotham; its fan-favorite franchises including Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them; classic animation brands such as Scooby-Doo and Looney Tunes; hit TV series like The Big Bang Theory; and many more properties and groundbreaking content rounding out the Studio’s unrivaled portfolio.

Okay...most of the DC Super Heroes stuff was meh until they got to the Batgirl costume. Whoever green lit that deserves an award. So cool. My little one is gonna love that.

The Batman movie vehicles? Amazing as well. I love that they actually made a Lego Calendar Man.

It's not a love affair. It's Mattel writing a bigger fatter check than anyone else and producing toys for kids, who will be the target for the majority of the products.

Don't get your hopes too high. Mattel hasn't done 4" scaled figures for a new DC movie since Man of Steel, and I doubt that'll change this year. If we get new movie figures at that scale, I would expect them to be from Funko. Like that line of figures they made for Suicide Squad.

I wish they could somehow divide the DC license so that Mattel can make all the kid-oriented toys they want and let someone else like NECA do adult-oriented figures in any scale they want.

how is this any different than marvel/hasbro?
(i realize hasbro took over ML from Toybiz)

its not really a love affair as much as it's just a simple licensing agreement?

i agree with what the one guy said. i'd like NECA to take a BETTER crack at some of the DC properties.
i say better because im sorry but that DVD edition Heath Ledger Joker had googly eyes like Crow T. Robot from MST3K, at least the 7 that were at my local TRU all had wonky eyes

I completely get that, but like Wonderful Toys stated, it'd be nice to get the master license away from Mattel, so that other companies could make 6-7" lines. Yes, I mean NECA, because they actually care about the products they release. Mattel's offerings are just plain bad. DC must not care how they are represented in the major retail market, as long as they get their big, fat check. It's a shame. One way to solve that problem would be to start selling DC Collectibles widespread, but I know they have no interest in that.

My only hope for a 3.75 inch line in the press release is where they say:

"Global master toy licensee Mattel will be developing an empowering line, including action figures inspired by the most iconic Super Heroes and Super-Villains, PLAYSETS, VEHICLES..."

While I did love the $9.99 "kid oriented" six inch figures (I'd say even more than the Multiverse ones) for JL I honestly feel 3.75 would be a better scale for kids... Granted the press release also says collector oriented figures which I'm sure there will be more 6inch Multiverse figures but I really hope they come up with a 3.75 line for JL.

It makes economical sense for parents... You have 7 main characters for JL, the cost for the Six inch kid figures priced at $9.99, that's a pretty big chunk of change for families. Now of course this is thinking they are going to have Parademons and Steppenwolf because you would have to have villains for kids to battle. For the whole collection that's serious money.

If they gave us all those figures, in the 3.75 scale priced at $7.99, it makes parents a little more willing to open their wallets for more than just one or two figures. From there, playsets and vehicles seem like a no brainer, the scale is perfect to incorporate all these characters. Besides the Batmobile, isn't Batman supposed to have some new flying fortress? Making that for six inch scale would be way huge and costly.

I keep thinking of the BVS rollout, and the case assortments baffled me. Granted, Batman is WB's money maker but when you can't find Superman on shelves and the movie is called Batman V Superman, who are the kid's Batman figure supposed to fight? Another Batman figure?

I just think 3.75 would be the perfect scale for JL because of the amount of characters, environments and vehcicles. As much as I miss the SA Star Wars 3.75 line, I did like the Rogue One 5POA line of figures. Some where hit and miss but overall, the sculpts were good and the price was very attractive for most families.

I guess we will just have to wait and see....I miss the glory days of 3.75 inch figures...

Unfortunately, NECA has said they would never want the DC master toy license. DC (and Marvel) wants stuff specifically aimed at kids, and it's not NECA's area. Really, the only 2 choices for a master toy license like DC and Marvel is Mattel or Hasbro. You need a big, big bank account with a large workforce to to do stuff at every size class and potential age market, or sub-license to numerous companies to do so.

That varies by property, but the larger the brand, the more age brackets you need to market to. That's why there's sub-licenses now, where potential competitors are working together. Using NECA as an example, it's how their sub-license for TMNT works. They can't make stuff that acts as a direct competitor to Playmates stuff. Even if fans see it as a different market, Nick and Playmates don't necessarily agree.

Licensing is a complicated mess. I deal with it myself, and it's a nightmare. And I'm only doing stuff with photography, music and video for advertising.

I only ever saw one Joker with bad eyes, the rest (including the one I ordered) were great. The Batman they just did had a higher chance for bad eyes but even then I found plenty that were acceptable.

Actually Mattel doing quite bad, their products aren't selling as much as in the past, except for Imaginext which the only toyline left they actually care about it's products quailty. I think Playmates now is doing the best for an American playline toy company, since they actually put effort in the products (at least in more products then most toy companies do) and give value for your money. The new Voltron line is a great exmple for that.

NECA wouldn't fit as replacement for Mattel since they aren't making Playline toys. I wish some smaller/another toy company would get the DC license and unlike Mattel actually be grateful for the opportunity that fell right into their hands and use it properly!

I actually meant, split the master license up. Let Mattel handle the kiddie stuff and a real company take a shot at collectibles in the mass market. As I said, it would all be solved if DC Collectibles would step up and get into the big box stores.

Yeah, I can't argue with you. I have a 10 year old that won't touch the stuff. The look of absolute terror on his face when he saw Mattel's Suicide Squad Harley Quinn was priceless, though. He's too old for Imaginext now, but he did have quite a collection some years back.

I hate to say it, because I loathe Marvel, but Hasbro seems to be doing a pretty good job for them. And what they were lacking early on, they seem to have made strides to fix. You'd think DC would look at the difference in demand and market and want to compete better. Oh well, all it really means is that I have more money for NECA & DCC and can continue not even bothering with Walmart, Target, etc. I shop at TRU & online stores.

Oh, I can definitely imagine that. I found out that Bandai Japan makes some great playline action figures, they're quite expensive I have to admit, but worth the price. I just got Kaman Rider Brave, he cost about 25$ when I bought him and he is beautifully sculpted and painted, well articulated and have very soiled feeling. It may be just 5$ more then Marvel Legends, but it's at least 10 times better in quailty terms. Maybe you could find some good toys for your kids in the new toy department of hobby search HobbySearch Toy Store

I don't loathe Marvel, but I sure love DC more and it's indeed sucks how DC toys are inferior.

Unfortunately with Mattel and Hasbro monopoly on the toy market, they don't have much of a reason to compete better:/. On the bright side, though, I think at some point Mattel and other deteriorating toy companies will have to step up their game or go bankrupt.

Yeah, more money for actual well made toys.

Mattel is/was the biggest toy company in the world, Lego is the only company close to or just now passing them.
(Bandai Namco is 3rd but that includes their huge video game division)
Hasbro is a few billion behind and the next is Jakks with far less than than 1/4th of them in the high millions.
