NECA Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3D Special Edition T-800 Figure Packaging Preview

Posted on February 1, 2017 at 7:03 am by Joe Moore under Terminator Toy News

Here’s a preview for the upcoming Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3D Special Edition T-800 Figure by NECA. The new image gives us a look at the packaging design for the figure, which also features the Terminator Cinemachines.

For the first time ever, as part of the film’s 25th anniversary celebration, Terminator 2 is being released in theaters in 3D!

To celebrate the historic occasion, NECA is releasing a Galleria version of the chilling T-800 with accessories that’ll let you reenact one of the film’s most iconic scenes. You know the one: the mind-blowing slow-motion sequence at the Galleria Mall when the Terminator whips out a shotgun hidden in a box of roses and saves young John from the T-1000.

The 7” scale action figure features the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger and over 25 points of articulation. It comes with two interchangeable head sculpts, pistol, and a shotgun that fits inside the included rose box. The window box packaging features the new 3D release logo and branding.

Look for the figure to hit this Spring. We’ll update with more details as they become available. Click the thumbnail for the full preview.

Thank goodness. I was just about to mod my figure to give it non-gloved hands.

Last thing I can ask for is the bike. Then it'll be super perfect.

So, it's the same exact figure they released already, but with a black T-shirt instead of a blue one.

I'm going to give it a pass, but I do know some people who were peeved by the previous Ultimate T2 figure because it didn't have a black T-shirt. So, I guess they'll be happy about this!

Hey, I didn't notice the non-gloved hands! Or, at least, I forgotten the first Ultimate T-800 had gloved hands...

Depending on the accessories, maybe I WILL break down and buy one of these. We'll see.

The shirt on the ultimate figure was grey not blue. At some point in the movie he changes shirts, I know it was the lighter grey shirt by the time he showed off his endoskeleton arm to Dyson.

The shotgun that came with the ultimate T2 figure was very sturdy, not at all soft plastic, so I'd hope this is just the exact same accessory since it should be.

More like a blue-grey, but whatever.

Yup, the T2 shotgun was perfectly fine. It was the minigun that was messed up.

I wonder what's going on here. We've already gotten an "ultimate" T2 Arnold. I wonder if it'll be a 2 pack with John Connor or maybe a set that comes with a sweet Harley he can ride. Either way, I'm having trouble seeing this as a plain single release after we just got the (almost) exact same figure not too long ago.

Not possible unfortunately. NECA doesn't have any kind of deal with Harley Davidson so they can't make the bike. Plus it would cost too much to forge a deal with HD just to make a single bike for a single figure and likely never use that bike again thereafter.

Maybe this is what the T-800 arm in the tube is for, even though it would have made more sense to include it with the last one instead of the shotgun.

I mean, they could just make it a "generic" bike that looks extremely similar but has no HD labels or tags. I seem to remember Randy said something about the fact that they could make completely screen accurate guns so long as it doesn't have the Remington (or whatever company) name or logo on the weapon itself.

You take that back, meanie! It IS blue-grey! Or grey-blue! Or...some combination of blue and grey!

Indeed it was...it was really bad, in fact, on par with Tech Noir's shotgun.

Also, to a lesser extent, the T2 pistol. The body of the pistol was decent, but the trigger guard was pretty damn rubbery...whenever I put it in Arnold's hand, I had to work it around his trigger-finger.

Makes sense...also, haven't they already out the kibosh on a John Connor figure?

Hmm...that would be a decent accessory, and something to make this release stand out a wee bit more from the last one.

I believe it will see standard release later this year as a part of the T2 3D re-release promotion. I wouldn't be surprised if what's shown is basically the final and all-inclusive version, it'd be cool if we actually got that rose box for him to hide his gun.

Wait, they're re-releasing T2 3D?? Are they doing it at standard theaters as opposed to Universal Studios locations? Info, please!!

BTW, if they're tying this figure into T2 3D, it'll probably come with a plasma rifle along with the shotgun. But a rose box would be neat as well.

*EDIT* Pffft. You meant that they're re-releasing Terminator 2 converted into 3D, NOT T2 3D: Battle Across Time. Got me excited over nothing.

Well shit I didn't mean to get your hopes for the wrong thing so sorry about that but yeah it would just be T2 converted into that weird pop-up book 3D like how they re-released The Lion King, The Phantom Menace, or Jurassic Park in 3D. Those movies being redone in 3D never sat right with me and from what I heard the final result was more pop-up book than 3D film thanks to them having to retroactively convert what was never meant to be 3D into a weird semi-anaglyphic deal compared to how stereoscopic has made 3D so much more immersive.

Huh. I never heard anything more about it since I heard it was happening so maybe it's just a Chinese thing now. Still this is the film's 25th anniversary so getting some figures to commemorate that is a fine reason enough to get these out.

As of right now, only Chinese cinemas have it scheduled for release in October (was a big press release storm in May). They're doing a massive push there for T2. I don't think we'll see anything in the U.S. for it outside of whatever NECA releases.

We might still get it on bluray 3D like they did with Predator a couple of years ago. I don't really care though, I already Terminator 2 so I only care about the toys at this point.

Another figure I'd like them to do is a chrome color repaint of the ultimate T-1000, I'd probably buy that.

No worries dude, I wasn't upset.

Besides, have you ever had the pleasure of experiencing T2:3D at a Universal Studios theme park? They combine live-action look-alike actors and proms/animatronics with the 3D film elements and it's pretty awesome. It would be pretty much impossible to replicate that in your local neighborhood multiplex, however.

Really wish the holes weren't in the jacket, it just strikes me as lazy when it's being sold as an Ultimate (I know that costs, but this figure isn't new by any means!).

I'd also have liked another hand for carrying the box properly, but fuck it, now I'm gonna have to consider the T-1000 again!

This figure isn't being sold as an ultimate, it's a regular release like the Genisys figures were.
