On Saturday January 28, 2017, NECA’s Randy Falk appeared on the Erik Nagel Show. We’ve caught up on the podcast and wanted to share the details on what they talked about. There’s a lot of general talk about pop culture, nerd stuff, movies, etc. It’s a fun listen. Here are a few of details on NECA related items they talked about:
Aliens: Covenant
- Talked a tiny bit about the line.
- Comes out in May.
- Can’t talk about specifics.
- Will not be at Toy Fair.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
- Mentioned, no specifics.
Predator Series
- Mentioned they are doing 2018 movie, no specifics.
- Mentioned they are doing new items for 3oth anniversary of original film.
Evil Dead 2
- New figures debuting soon.
- One being redone (Henrietta?) and at least one figure that’s not been done.
Pacific Rim 2
- NECA is not doing figures based on the movie.
Blade Runner
- License right now, is for Blade Runner 2049.
- Hope to be able to go back to the original at some point.
- License for original is extremely difficult to sort out. But they are working on it!
Obviously, there’s not too much new here. New York Toy Fair is extremely close, and Randy clearly didn’t want to tip his hand on what’s coming. But, as always, we expect them to debut some excellent and surprising new items at the show.

NECA's Randy Falk On Erik Nagel Show - Details - The Toyark - News
Nothing too earth shattering. No new licenses, a couple minor tidbits like working on trying to acquire the tangled mess that is the original Blade Runner.
I guess since they're not doing PR2 it makes some sense why they aren't doing any Kong toys either?
They're both Legendary Pictures movies right? I was kinda thinking it would be related to that, but who knows.
As for Godzilla & Kong, while Legendary is producing/distributing both Kong and Godzilla, they are not owned outright by Legendary. Toho owns the rights to Godzilla and licensing deals for that character must be made with them. Universal Studios is the owner of Kong, and any deal to produce his character must go through them.
