We’re catching up on our DC Icons Galleries starting today with the Darkseid and Grail 2 pack! This is the first over-sized offering into the Icons line with 12 inch Darkseid towering over the standard 5.75/6 inch figures. The set comes from the end of the New 52 era and the Darkseid War story arc in Justice League and related books. Fitting since Darkseid set off the New 52 era in Justice League #1 and was the catalyst for the Justice League forming in the first place (in that new timeline). This time he comes with his daughter Grail, who is half Amazonian to boot. You’ll have to read the books to catch up on all that, it’s a long story. Both are great in action figure form, so let’s take a look after the break courtesy of Big Bad Toy Store!

Fantastic set. Darkseid especially. The Icons tech works much better as a bigger, bulkier figure. In 6 inch form, they tend to be a tad slender, and with limited hip and thigh articulation they can get a bit similar. Darkseid uses the same general tech, but in it’s beefier large form it feels right. Sculpt and paint is great, though I prefer the blue tone seen on the original Darkseid figure from the New 52 line (see pics below). I dug the Darkseid War story line, and the introduction of Grail. As a figure, she’s solid, but has some balance issues due to loose joints and tiny feet. Paint application was also a bit sloppy here. The cloak is a nice touch and differentiates her on the shelf. Check it all out for yourself below and grab it at BBTS for a nice discount right now!

Great set of pics TB...
Even though I've given up on that line...
If i can find this down the road at some point cheaper...I'd def get it.
Hope the inverse doesn't happen and the price just goes up.
The pic of her "walking" on his arm is cool..
and haha..at the pic of her curving her body backwards like she's in the middle of a dance move in a music video...
That's a really good 2-pack.
I have read a lot of reviews that involve poor quality. Many report fragile shoulder pads and joints. Did you have any experience with this on the figure?
The bigger story here: Grail has a thigh swivel!
Sure DC, don't give it to any of the figures that are widely recognized for mobility, but sure... Grail; why not??
Other than that, no issues, and quality on both figs was normal Icons fare.

Such a shame that I was really looking forward to buying this set until after I saw the reviews. The sculpt looks great, but I can no longer justify the price tag on it. I'll wait to see if he gets marked down to $40 a some point.
With the thigh swivel, I think the line continues to be a work in progress. First they up-scaled it a hair, now its thigh swivel, and I hope that some improved head articulation is in the pipeline. Its shaping up to be a really solid line.
Now, do I get this Darkseid as my display Darkseid or do I continue to hold out for Mezco's eventual offering.
I hope they up the size of Rebirth Batman in that 7 pack, although, he looks to be pretty much a repaint outside of a few certain parts.

Next up - Burnside Batgirl & her bike:

DC Icons Burnside Batgirl with Bike Photo Review - The Toyark - News
The Batgirl set is stellar. Bike and figure both look really nice. Love the shots of her browsing the phone.
that last shot is great...and simple...and why is she holding her right buttock..ha
Yeah, another above average offering from icons. Sculpt of head/face, and paint on it, top notch. The matte paint all over the figure, and slightly sheen paint on bike are both perfect.
Yep, the set looks to be very well done, just I REALLY don't like this de-aged iteration of Batgirl.
Also, DCC needs to do a new Icons Batman cos' this one is way to short!! Come on DCC, it should be a priority for 2017!!
That bike looks alot like a robotech cyclone
Great figure! Love the poses displayed here. I just wish it had an alternate "serious" expression/head.
I love, love, love the Batgirl of Burnside design and I love, love, love this figure. It's perfect. I bought it day one, and while I don't really have room to display her bike at the moment, at least I found a place for Barb herself in my collection.

I think that if DC really wanted a teenage Batgirl, all they had to do was to bring Stephanie Brown back, she was pretty popular (maybe still is) & keep Barbara in her mid-20, as Oracle & Dick's GF.
I side with Startaiger re: Killing Joke. Like DKR, it's kind of a landmark, unique for its time.

Stephanie is the only 'purple' Bat-character for me.
That said, I love this figure, and the photos do it justice. Thanks, Tony.
1. Barbara is still clearly in her mid-20's...if they had de-aged her to being a teen she'd still be living at home and going to high school instead of living in hipsterville Burnside with roomies. I'm personlly happy that they undid the Killing Joke stuff and got her back in the (new and much improved) costume.
2. Debating a comic character's age? Age is probably the most fluid thing in comics, aside from characters never staying dead when they get killed. It almost doesn't matter anymore. Realistically, Barbara and everyone else should probably be dead by now.
I've really got to get this Batgirl. This is by far the best Batgirl design ever.
I cannot wait for my Darkseid and Batgirl to ship, both amazing sets in my opinion, especially Batgirl. I hope DC Icons continues to increase the number of female characters it releases because they are doing phenomenally well with them.
I'm not sure why people are being so negative about Darkseid, I've watched a lot of reviews of the figure and they have all been very positive even with the articulation limits.
