The Pre-Orders for the Beast of the Mesozoic dinosaur action figure line that was successfully funded via Kickstarter last year have re-opened once again. If you missed out on the Kickstarter, OR missed out on the original pre-order period, now is your chance to jump in and grab some kick ass Dinos. From their announcement:
You may notice that it’s mostly the same as before, but with a few differences. I’ll briefly run through the changes that have been made since the previous pre-order store.
What’s Different? One of the most notable differences are a few of the prices. As many of you know, the original proposed concepts for the Accessory Packs and Nestlings were much more modest than what I ended up creating. The Accessory Packs became larger and more elaborate while the Nestlings were given articulation and interchangeable parts. Thus, it’s no surprise that production costs for these items were a bit higher than I’d estimated for and thus an increase in the price has unfortunately become necessary. The new prices are as follows:
Accessory Packs- $40
Nestlings- $25
If you have already ordered any of these items, you’re locked in for the old prices and this will not effect your total. But from this point on, these are now the standard prices for those items. All other item pricing remains the same as before.
Printed Materials
For the sake of simplicity, I have removed the printed materials from the store this time around. The calendars are sold out, but there are still post cards and a limited number of ‘Raptors at Dawn’ prints available. I will be putting the post cards up on my website, creative-beast.com, for purchase later this month. Kickstarter backers, please contact me if you’d like to add the print to your existing order.
Shipping
I have adjusted the shipping fee structure to better accommodate smaller orders as well as large ones.
US base shipping fee is now $11 (down from $15) with each item adding an additional $1 to the shipping total. If you have an existing pre-order, you may notice a credit of $4 on your BackerKit profile. This is due to the reduction in the base shipping fee on BackerKit.
Likewise, the International base shipping fee is now $22 (down from $25) with each item adding an additional $3 to the shipping total. Those with an existing international pre-order will see a $3 credit.
Adding to an Existing Order
Although your surveys have been locked, you can still add to your existing order by placing a pre-order and then contacting me, or by simply letting me know what you would like to add. By your request, I can combine the new order with your existing order to save on shipping costs and to ensure that all items ship together. But please know that this will not be done automatically- you will need to message me or email me about combining your order.
Exclusives (Kickstarter backers)
Kickstarter backers will not be able to see the Exclusive items in the store, but if you would like to add either the Velociraptor osmolskae or the signed ‘Raptors at Dawn’ art print by Mark Schultz, there are still more available. I can add those to your order by request, so again, please contact me if you would like to add either of these items to your existing order.
Estimated shipping date
You will also notice that the estimated shipping date is now July 2017 instead of May 2017. Don’t worry- we haven’t hit any production delays so far (fingers crossed), but this was changed due to the amount of orders that will need fulfilling up to this point. If shipping begins in May as planned beginning with the Kickstarter orders, then it would likely not be any sooner than July that new orders could be fulfilled. So the shipping date is more for the new backers and not intended for those with existing orders.
Lock down? There is no lock down date this time around. Since all of the items are completed and shown, the new pre-order store will work like a regular store. Cards will be charged within 24 hours of each order.
Also keep in mind that this time around the quantities are limited. Anything left over will be available on my website later this summer. The pre-order store will be up until fulfillment shipping begins. After that the items will be available at creative-beast.com.
You can head on over and grab you some right now here.
David Silva of Creative Beast Studios has done work for McFarlane and NECA in the past, and is now Kickstarting a line of 1/6 scale dinosaur action figures. The first line is various raptor species. Like I said, they're 1/6 scale, but can work 1/12 in "Jurassic Park scale" (the raptors in JP are actually oversized in comparison to the actual animal). They're really beautiful figures, with a possibility of up to 10 total if stretch goals get met. Check it out:
Beasts of the Mesozoic: Raptor Series Action Figures by David Silva —Kickstarter
Thanks for sharing. Those sculpts are quite impressive.
I went to high school with David Silva! I remember his comic book inspired pages often being in the art display case. He's worked on some of my favorite toys, too. What a small world.
And what an awesome project. Absolutely pledging. (Ceratopsians, please)

Rad that you knew him, he's a super-talented guy from what I can see. He's been selling dinosaur model kits for a few years now too, if anyone's interested his site is Creative-Beast.com
wow! those things are unbelievably awesome.. i'd kill for an entire line of dinosaurs that were that articulated. i've always felt that dinosaurs as toys were ridiculously underutilized. i mean, there's not a single line of collector level articulated dinosaurs.. it sucks. i mean, most boys, when they're kids LOVE dinosaurs. i don't understand why the only things we get these days are cheap immovable figures, crappy gimmicky hasbro figures, or expensive static statues.
anyways, in a perfect world.. i'd have a collection of jurassic park looking dinosaurs, with their real life counterparts displayed next to them. i think that'd look awesome.
As soon as I saw these I jumped on them. I'm not even a dinosaur fan in general, but these are gorgeous.
Just pledged for the velociraptor. I wish I could pledge $100 to get all three.. But I just can't swing that right now with so many other things out there.. It's a great deal though. I really hope the goal is reached. This hobby REALLY needs figures like these.
I would still love to see a Jurassic mark style raptor to display with their real version.
I hope that this takes off and they're able to expand to more dinosaurs.
Excellent! I will buy two of each for sure. I don't know whether it's good or bad but this year we get too many cool figures and with not so good budget choosing what to buy puts me in difficult situation.
Dave says he'll be revealing the first stretch goal figure this weekend, though it's not clear if he's done any sculpt work on it yet or is just revealing which species it will be. Either way, can't wait. I really love how he's been basing the color schemes on different bird species.
So there is now package art for two stretch goal figures up on the Kickstarter site, as well as an in-progress look at the head sculpt for the first. Both look fantastic, check 'em out!

Alright, this baby is now fully funded! Time to blow past some stretch goals!
Just pledged $35 for the Velociraptor. Hoping a sneak-appearance of a Deinonychus, but will "settle" for Dromaeosaurus if they get the stretch.

For future 1/6th scale dinos... would love Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Parasaurolophus, and a labrador-sized T. Rex. I think a 1/6 scale titanosaur is just too much to hope for, tho...
I'm in..
I'd really like to see a Triceratops.
I'd really like to see a Triceratops.
i'd love a 1/12 tyrannosaurus rex. that would be awesome. though, as much as i like these raptors being accurately feathered.. a feathered t-rex is still a little too out there for me at the moment. i'm not sure if scientists really know how many feathers the t-rex had.
a 1/6 utahraptor would be cool.. but i think that'd probably be the size of a 1/12 t-rex.
anyways.. i love the kickstarter exclusive blue raptor.. he's definitely going to be the leader of the two velociraptors i've already pledged for.. something tells me i'm going to wind up with six of these things at least. some of those silhouettes just look badass.. i can't wait for them to be revealed.

A larger tyrannosaurid, closely related to Tarbosaurus and rex, shows feather-like quills along the top of the head and tail, but nothing on the back or leg. front arms were missing, so it is unknown if it had wings or scaley arms.
Jeez... how many feathered raptors do we really need??
how can anyone complain about $35 super articulated accurate raptors!
the hardest part is going to pick which two stretch goals i want.
We did it!
Great stuff, all around. A small part in my brain wants to throw a saddle and some plastic armor onto at least one of these raptors for my figures to ride around on.
Either way, I'm glad they're happening.
