Thundercats Classic Mumm-Ra In-Hand Photos

Posted on December 21, 2016 at 1:09 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Thundercats Toy News

Club Third Earth is almost done and today we’re taking a look at the subscription only figure, Mumm-Ra! Mumm-Ra shipped with Pumyra in the next-to-last month of the subscription (last month). This is the decrepit weakling Mumm-Ra, not his all powerful Ever-Living form. He comes with 2 cloaks, an extra set of hands, a staff, and the hilt to the Sword of Plun-Darr. As a figure, he is superbly done. Sculpt and paint are tops here. There is a ton of articulation in that skinny frame. Mummy wrappings drape off the face and arms, with raised parts on the chest. The cloaks are great finishers, a bright red that caps off the vintage look. There isn’t much more I would have wanted from a Classics Mumm-Ra!

Read on to check out a closer look at Mumm-Ra, and stay tuned the rest of the week as we finish off the Thundercats Classic line!

I would have sent them back for an exchange, if my Wilykat's face was painted like that.

I have never sent anything back for an exchange due to paint. Rarely even when they break. Too lazy.

Wow, that face is horrible. It looks like his nose was dripping snot and he didn't bother to wipe it off.

    Mattel? Bad paint apps? Getouttahere!!

That paint would ruin it for me. For an expensive, exclusive collector's figure, I would expect a decent paint job.

Bad paint apps are one thing, but that looks like somoene just dropped splotches on the figure instead of actually painting it. In fact, it looks like how I would end up painting a face, so if I wanted my faces to look like that, I could do that myself for free.

I got 3 sets of these and none of mine look bad like that. I'd be contacting them for a replacement. That's awful.

The 6" classic Lion-O (open mouth) or the 6" modern Lion-O? I'm guessing classic, but thought I'd clarify before taking a picture =o)

I still have my original solid figure and it doesn't have that big horizontal seem line in her hair.

I was thinking of the Classic Lion-O with open mouth.

Great pics! Lion-O looks ok. Like the head sculpt a lot. Not sure what it is, but something feels off about it the figure to me, especially considering the Wily Kittens were so good.

    EDIT:
I will say, he does look really good next to the Filmation He-Man.

    Great pics!
I really like this figure! Seems like Mattel makes the best stuff right before a line ends. In particular..the eyes and the claw shield are awesome! You can actually see hair texture in the claw, big improvement. The eyes are much bigger than the older classics line, looks more cat like.

The only thing I don't like is that he seems more like a Lion-O figure from the MOTU line. The body is basically the same style body of MOTU figures. This was expected as they must have reused some parts from MOTU figures. The paint also is kind of sloppy for such an important character, and such a delayed figure.

Filmation He-Man and Skeletor, and Lion-o are going to be some very sought after figures for years to come unless we get a re-release.

Wow, Lion-O needs to eat something as he looks quite anorexic in the abdomen. At least yours wasn't riddled with the quality issues Jay C got. Nevertheless, I'm glad I never bothered to get these given the team will never get completed (again).

I love these T-Cats figures and hope that Super7 will be able to follow through and complete the team in the same MOTUCish style... If not, I'm still happy to have the characters we did/will get... and with the recent MOTU/ThunderCats comicbook, it gives them a decent cross-over display appeal...

I personally would rather have the whole team or no team at all. I'm so sick and tired of having broken teams.
