Aliens 30th Anniversary Ripley and Newt 2-Pack Available Now

Posted on November 29, 2016 at 7:05 am by Joe Moore under Aliens and Predator Toy News

The Aliens 30th Anniversary Ripley and Newt 2-Pack is available now directly from NECA. The set, which includes a both Ellen Ripley (with new head sculpt) and Rebecca “Newt” Jordan, is priced at $44.99 plus shipping. This set doesn’t ship out to retailers until December 6th, and won’t be on shelves until a few weeks after that. Here’s your chance to grab the set a little early.

Continuing the Aliens 30th anniversary celebration, NECA presents a special edition action figure 2-pack that recreates the movie’s classic poster! That iconic image of Ripley rescuing Newt appears on the front flap of the deluxe packaging; open the flap and the figures are posed in the box just as they appear on the poster.

Ripley stands approximately 7” tall and features a new head sculpt and new deco, both exclusive to this set. She comes with a flamethrower accessory that has a special “fire effect” attachment. Newt stands approximately 5” tall. Both feature authorized likenesses and have over 25 points of articulation for dramatic poses. A great display piece both in and out of the box!

You can order the Aliens 30th Anniversary Ripley and Newt 2-Pack from the NECA Ebay Store and the NECA Amazon Store.

It doesn't look like it. Keeps that version unique, while getting the figure to a wider audience.

My thoughts exactly. I'm glad they're giving the rest of us a chance to get Newt, but I'm not happy about getting a second Ripley out of this.

On that note, is it just the lighting or does that Ripley have a different face sculpt?

Edit: $40? Fuck, NECA has us by the balls and they know it.

...I don't get it. People were bitching about Newt being an exclusive and now they're bitching because they have a real chance of getting her worldwide? Yes, it's a second Ripley, but she has a new headsculpt and a new accessory. You can easily use the previous Ripley you bought on the Power Loader if you have it. If not, you still get Newt!

This. There's no pleasing some people.

Newt as a single-figure release at retail would have pegwarmed like mad and everyone knows it. This set with Ripley is pretty much the perfect way to finally get her to retail without painting her in retarded videogame colors or something stupid like that. Besides, Ripley has a new face sculpt (seemingly improved over the numb expression the original figure had) and a cool flame attachment. Shit, how many times has NECA released re-paints of other figures (47 Gypsy Dangers and counting) without anyone bitching?

Yahzee, people just like to complain. It's really bad on their Twitter feed. That said, I completely agree with you. Getting Ripley in the power loader took a bit of patience. I'm glad I'll be able to keep the one i have in there, posed exactly how I like, and still have another to pose with Newt or the Marines. Add that to the fact that they were willing to do all this to give fans a chance to get what could have easily remained an exclusive, and I will definitely not complain.

Thoughts on the Rescuing Newt 2-Pack

I'm excited for this set, but I'm not going to lie, I really wish that it was a two pack with a jacketed Ripley with a standard pulse rifle. It's my personal favorite look for Ripley in Aliens and I think it would have pleased more fans of the Alien line to get a new version rather than a head swap and new deco.

I'm not sold on the expression. the sculpted teeth look a little weird to me, but now it allows me to permanently, play with my series 5 Ripley in the power loader.

Lastly, I hope that this set also drives down the SDCC Newt prices because I still want to get ahold of those accessories even thought I probably wouldn't use most of them.

It's a different, 'concerned' head sculpt, as said in the description.

I believe the Pacific Rim line is now over, ult GD is the last Jaeger and Hardship is the last Kaiju. The only way they're doing more is if they get the sequel. Sucks because I really wanted a Karloff figure.

Regarding this set I am glad Newt is going to be available to the general public and at least this isn't the exact same Ripley. I'm not too crazy about the new face sculpt because it looks like it might only work at certain angles, the series 5 figure may have had a bland, stern face but at least it works at every angle.

I missed out on Ripley, and she can't seem to be had for under 40 bucks online, so this is my Plan B for her. Newt is just an accessory.

The 40-dollar MSRP is high, though. You get 1.5 figures for the price of 2. But that packaging is hard to turn down...

Worst news ever...sequel has been talked about and a week ago I saw a tentative Feb 2018 date. I just hope NECA keeps the rights long enough to continue the line.

Also I would like a Karloff, but I wouldn't feel like my Kaiju are complete without Raiju and Slattern. I want to be able to recreate the final battle...

Sorry I know this is off topic, I do think the 2 pack is a good move, but it also makes me feel like any SDCC figure they make has a chance of showing up somewhere else at retail. I hope to get a Neca Shredder that isn't Video Game deco

Well actually it's a little more like one and two-thirds figures so that's a good way to look at it, always find the bright side if you can.

I would totally get a Raiju to go with Scunner. Maybe if they get the rights to do PR2 figures they could also do a little more first movie stuff as a sorta legacy expansion within the line (like how when they first got AVPR they squeezed in an Aliens warrior or how they put Jungle Hunter in their initial Predators series). We can dream.

How do you figure? I bought all the Ripleys, I still want this set. Still way cheaper than what Newt was selling for. Honestly I prefer this over the Xenomorph repaints.

Yep. Cheaper than SDCC Newt AND you get another Ripley. Seems like a win to me.

I personally would have liked an Ultimate Cherno Alpha. There really isn't much room for improvement in the original (it's pretty much perfect), but the addition of some lights in the reactor tower and cockpit would have been cool...there's plenty of room inside for 'em.

Even though I loved Pacific Rim, I'm not sure how jazzed I am for the sequel. Different writer, different director, none of the original cast are returning...usually that kind of film falls into the "direct to video" category. Besides, as much as I would have liked to see Del Toro do a sequel himself, the first movie has a fairly definitive ending with pretty much everything being wrapped up. I'd want the premise of the sequel to be a bit more involved than "oh, they're back for more."

That said, I'd like to see the Jagers a little tougher and better armed this time around. Any Jager that wasn't named Gypsy Danger was a total pussy in the original...I was way pissed when Cherno Alpha went out like a bitch. The Russian team was awesome and deserved to kick ass.
