Marvel Legends Astral Doctor Strange
Pros
Awesome Sculpting on body and head
Cons
No accessories
Very “Strange” figure
Overall
As it stands right now Astral Doctor Strange is the worst Marvel Legends figure of the year. I don’t know if his Astral projection gets big screen time or not, but this figure does not translate well to action figure form at all. It’s a bad attempt at pearlessence and really is a “Strange” figure. I foresee this figure being available until 2019 at big box retail. I’m just glad it’s the first figure in the wave and we can move onto what is a great wave of figures otherwise…

Well, at least it comes with the Dormammu head.
BTW, I already have the Nico Minoru figure from this wave, and it's fantastic. Probably one of the best female Marvel Legends figures ever.
Dormammu looks pretty sweet as well. Probably one of the first BAFs in ages I'm interested in.
Next up is a much better figure Classic Doctor Strange.

If only he was in the blue outfit or some different deco than the Strange that came out in the Hulkbuster wave.
A strong showing for Brother Voodoo!

'Roll-of-the-dice' hinge on voodoo? Nice!
Another solid figure.

The Enchantress opulent and imperial.

Enchantress looks a bit like Tricia Helfer.
My introduction to the Enchantress was an appearance in the Inhumans. This figure looks perfect to me.
Deadpool and enchantress.....my two absolute favorite figures ever.
Love this Enchantress, so perfect. Beautiful face sculpt, sexy body, bold strong colours that pop, great use of the limited new tooling (ie. new skirt piece, really adds to and emphasises the spectacular booty these voluptuous female figs built on the Moonstone body have!). Looks incredible paired with Scarlet Witch. Along with Nico from this wave, these are some of the absolute greatest females Hasbro has produced to date, and it only looks to keep getting better next year with powerful women like Angela and Dazzler on the cards. So happy to be a Marvel Legends collector right now!
Great Nico photo shoot. I've already commented on this figure...
Hey man, don't kink shame.
(just kidding, don't be a creep)

I'm not trying to be creepy, I'm just saying I appreciate the aesthetics of the figure. The aesthetics are just as important a factor as articulation, paint apps, accessories etc. & if the fig is flaunting some obvious sex appeal, it's a perfectly valid point to bring up in a discussion/review. Hasbro is obviously aware that this body mold sells, & really I'm just saying what I'm sure a lot of other collectors are thinking.
I have a beautiful wife & am blissfully married, I'm not fauning over some inanimate object I wish I could Pinnocio to life so it would become my girlfriend. I'm just making honest observations on one of my favourite & one of the best action figure lines around, Marvel Legends.
I admit I can be enthusiastic in my approach, but that's just because the figures are that damn good! I have no problem commenting on the new Captain Britain's ripped abs or broad shoulders, or the new Ultimate Spidey's lean athletic frame & tight buns. If we're gonna talk about action figures, the physical appeal is part of that. Anybody who says otherwise is being naive.
@Joelston
Yes, many collectors are as aware as Hasbro's marketers are regarding the obvious sexuality of some sculpts. However, your descriptive language was a bit on the nose. lol You wrote something before about the Aliens face huger that made me laugh at how much it straddled the line. Actually, I think you are being intentionally provocative. You come perilously close to being offensive, while pointing out the obvious intentions of toymakers. It's funny, to me, but there are young audiences here and possibly some female collectors that might feel uncomfortable reading your comments. Not judging...just a heads up.
I'm with you 100% Joelston. The ladies Hasbro has put out in Legends lately have been amazing. It's nice that after years and years of some pretty fugly face sculpts and mismatched body shapes we're finally getting toys that look like what we've seen on comic pages and have wanted in plastic form for ages.

Yes I think I know which comment you mean in regards to the face hugger, I'm glad you found it amusing, but all I was trying to do was point out the (big red sore looking) elephant in the room. I suppose I was naive in assuming it was ok to bring up what I thought was common knowledge in regards to the overarching phallic themes of the Alien franchise. I was just drawing attention to how inherently provocative the face hugger design actually was, & how masterfully the creature taps into the male fear of being dominated, suppressed & indeed brutally taken advantage by a hostile female force. Then, ironically, but beautifully, the men are forced to rely on the one strong, capable & charismatic woman (Ripley) smart enough to try & save them from their horror-show cosmic nightmare.
Despite what you may think about the comments I have made, I am actually a devout Feminist. Just as I recognise that Alien/s is a masterpiece in Feminist pop-culture, I believe that Marvel is Finally! following suit & recognising the power of strong, beautiful women to carry their books. Never have there been more high-quality female-led comics coming out of Marvel than there have been right now (Ms Marvel, She Hulk, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Angela, A-Force, Thor (Jane Foster), All New Wolverine, & the list goes on) & of course that flows on to Marvel Legends. Never before have we had such a high volume of high-quality female figures being produced, & with such frequency, with multiple waves a year coming out now.
Please don't mistake my enthusiasm for sexism, that is the last thing I would want. All I'm saying is that we buy Marvel Legends for many reasons, one of the primary ones being that they are accurate to the source material. That source material portrays strong beautiful men & strong beautiful women doing amazing, beautiful things, in stories & arcs that capture our imagination & excite & inspire us, entertain & enthral us. So much so that we are ravenous in our desire for plastic representations of our favourite characters.
I love women. I love men. I love Marvel. I love Marvel Legends, & I love The Toyark. I will sincerely endeavour to sustain this love without further offending anybody.
Ps. That Iron Fist is perfect! I have the wrapped hands permanently displayed, they look incredibly kick-ass. The Pizza Spidey body is so right for Danny, such an improvement over the Odin wave iteration.
@Joelston
Thank you for taking the time to write something thoughtful and cogent. I agree with all that you have written and now realize your comments were merely of the candid variety and not attempts at snark. Still funny, but unintentionally so...Hear! Hear!...for strong female character development that turns on it's ear the antiquated sensibilities of social/emotional-luddites.
