Marvel Legends Hobgoblin Photo Shoot

Posted on August 30, 2016 at 9:11 pm by DESTRO under Marvel Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

In the Earth-616 Marvel Universe, the Hobgoblin mantle has been passed to many individuals, though former fashion designer Roderick Kingsley is the original, longest running and possibly best-known Hobgoblin.

Other characters who used the Hobgoblin identity in the main Marvel Universe during Roderick’s numerous bouts of retirement include:

  • Arnold “Lefty” Donovan, a small-time thug working for Roderick who had a very short, and fatal, tenure as the second Hobgoblin.
  • Edward “Ned” Leeds, a Daily Bugle reporter who was brainwashed by Roderick to act as the third Hobgoblin and later killed.
  • Jason Macendale, Jr., a mercenary who started his criminal career as the original Jack O’Lantern; he took on the mantle after Leeds’ death, but was later killed by Roderick.
  • An unnamed man in a new Hobgoblin costume that attacked during the Secret War but failed to be victorious and was captured.
  • Daniel Kingsley, Roderick’s twin-brother who took his place with the original costume.
  • Phillip “Phil” Urich, a mentally unstable hero-turned-villain who slaughtered Daniel Kingsley and operated as the Hobgoblin until he became the Goblin Knight and later the Goblin King.

Marvel Legends Hobgoblin

Pros
Nicely sculpted heads
Nice paint deco

Cons
Could have used better articulation

Overall
Hobgoblin is my pick of the wave for best figure. I like the character and the deco along with a nice paint application. It could have use a little move rage in the arms and hips but you can still pull off the poses you want for the character. No downside to owning this one, definitely on the buy list.

Which Spidey figure is better, this one or the one that came with the pizza slice? This one looks cool but I'm not seeing the extra shoulder articulation the previous one had.

    It's hard to say.

Both have the same articulation despite the lack of butterfly joints, however, the legs are way superior on the Ultimate version. The blue is a little darker than I'd like though, but he is by far the best teenage Peter we have yet to ever get as far as I am concerned.

Frankly, I think they are both perfect because of that. One can be teenage Parker, the other is adult Parker. Plus, the Ultimate figure goes great in scale with Spider-Gwen, so you can re-enact all of your favorite neck breaking moments.

Finally the gallery! This is a superb Spider-Man figure, I love it! It's not a big deal the shoulder articulation, i saw many video review and the range of arms are the same of pizza Spidey

Butterfly joints! So that's what they're called.

    Real nice, sicko.

I have pizza Spidey, but will switch to this probably. I like the ultra-skinny, lanky look of this, compared to the toned-gymnast look of pizza spidey... I have legends carnage, pizza spidey, and Marvel Select Venom recreating the poster from the 90's which has both symbiotes leaping at a webslinging spidey. I think the smaller, thinner Spidey will make the pose look more dramatic and "dangerous"

Nice.. Hasbro continues to knock out another set of superb Legends built around the Ol' Web-Head. Yeah I have that same compulsion to collect super-articulated Spideys! The recent SpiderVerse cross-over has really provided a lot (a lot a lot!!) of new source material (fan-favourites Silk and Spider-Gwen) and re-invigorated some old source material (Spider-Ham anyone?!) to use when constructing more Spidey waves moving forward. The new 2099 version looks slick, and hopefully we'll get a Noir (complete with a new trench coat mold and revolver!) and a few of the other standouts from the SpiderVerse story soon..

I know it might be burn-out for some (one too many versions of Spider-Man) but personally, I can't get enough. And as long as they keep peppering each new set of Spidermen with a few classic villains, I'm more than happy to hand over my money. And really, along with perhaps Batman, Spidey had to have one of the best, most extensive, diverse and iconic rouges galleries in modern comics to draw from. Hasbro has really only just begun to scratch the surface.. Exciting times to be a Marvel Legends fan..

    08-25-2016, 07:23 AM

I've got no problem with Hasbro wanting to do a Spidey in each wave, but they need to start amping up the villan releases. Two a wave is too little for someone with the huge villain count like Spider-Man.

So this is actually a new body then? Sorry, I don't follow many lines outside Transformers very closely any more. I like the Miles costume and am looking forward to picking it up. If these are different bodies I might pick up this Peter too. Love the Pizza Spidey but didn't see much difference between that and the new one. I think I may need to track down a Superior Spidey too. Pretty sure they're still sitting on pegs around me somewhere.

Yep - Miles and this new Peter are both using the brand-new 'Teen Male' body, making it a bit shorter than the existing Pizza Spidey.

As for Electro, I actually dig the electricity hands, but it's a bummer that they didn't include a regular set of hands as well. Probably wouldn't be hard to find a spare pair of black hands lying around somewhere, however.

The hands from Speed Demon work and they are almost the same color.

Dolomite, the hands from the Allfather Iron Fist are also a perfect fit if you don't mind Electro having un-gloved hands. Electro's hands utilize the swappable hand peg, and are easy to remove and can be easily swapped with them.

Is it just me or did that radiated spider really get around before actually "dying"? Seriously, like Tenth Doctor levels of walkabout biting everyone and everything before kicking the bucket. I'm waiting for the spin off where the Spider-Spider had it's own life in NYC, randomly biting things before finally giving up the will to live.

    Agreed.

Though we can always look forward to the epic team up of the Spider-Pigeon, the Spider-Rat and the Spider-Bum.
