Beastman – Masters of the Universe Club Grayskull In-Hand Gallery

Posted on August 19, 2016 at 2:14 pm by Tony_Bacala under Masters Of The Universe Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Mark my words He-Man – some day you will wish you never heard the name Beast Man! Mattel’s Club Grayskull, a cartoon themed redo of Masters of the Universe Classics has just shipped it’s 4th (and 5th) figure – Beastman! Beastman is sporting a toon like look with is classic orange and red color scheme, complete with his mane, whip and shield. He joins He-Man, Skeletor and Trap-Jaw as must have’s for a cartoon specific line up, and is done masterfully like the others. Let’s take a look after the break!

ICYMI – Check all our Club Grayskull galleries!

Masters of the Universe Classics 2.0 Club Grayskull Filmation Beastman

Overall
Another solid entry into the cartoon line up. There are only a few more that I really want in this format personally, Ram-Man and Man-at-Arms being tops, so any that drop until then is just gravy on top of He-Man, Skeletor and Trap-Jaw. He’s well done as a figure, and triggers nostalgia perfectly. The whip is hard plastic, not bendable, which is ok but does limit the posing in tight a tight shelf line up. He-Man is a bit outnumbered, bring on those good guys!

Check some key shots here, full set below!

Can't wait to swap out that Lion-O. Good figure, but the scale kills it.

Got mine yesterday, and I don't really mind the new ankles. They are a bit of an eyesore but that is no real big deal. Unfortunately on my copy, the left eye's pupil almost takes up the entire eye so it looks nearly all black...pretty creepy actually. I am asking Matty for a replacement.

I find it odd how it seems like they went out of their way to make these 2.0 Figures look like they jumped straight out of the Filmation Cartoon, yet they is the Power Sword they chose. It really looks nothing like the sword from the animated series.

Yes, the Power Sword looks nothing like the filmation cartoon. Leave it too Mattel to screw that up. If you want a really accurate Power Sword, check this link out. Sword of Glory 2.0 (VDFEDTMZS) by evilmike

That sucker painted silver will look great with this He-Man.

I also bought a fullsize Replica Filmation Powersword off Ebay for 140 that came from Blast Replicas, which sell their sword for about 400 shipped. It's very accurate as well. Random people making better swords than Mattel lol. Mattels looks awful with that dented circle in the middle of it on one side. Also, the godawful CHINA written on it doesn't help. Every damn Power Sword has that on it.

That eye brow looks rough and those ankle are horrid especially if you thought you were getting the original style ankles.

I have a few of evilmike's Filmation Power Swords, as well as the sheath. I've found that the White Acrylic or Frosted Ultra Detailed ones look and feel the most like a real action figure accessory. The other materials are so gritty looking and are sort of fragile. I haven't gotten my replacement He-Man 2.0 delivered yet, but I am really curious to see if evilmike's sheath will fit on it. I find it funny that the sword included looks like it doesn't fit in the included sheath very well.

It us utterly ridiculess that Matty keeps stamping China in such visible places. The Alcala Power Sword having it stamped right on the blade is such a blunder. Since the stamp has to be present, I'd prefer it being on the handle so it can be hidden. It seems like on all modern figures there is a stamp in a clearly obvious space instead of being hidden under the foot or something like that.

Trap Jaw looks really good. Head sculpt is near perfect (save for a bit of derp in the eyes). Colors are spot on. Still hate the ab crunch on these.

  13. darthschroeder's Avatar darthschroeder says

    04-18-2016, 02:24 AM

Wow. Literally every review I have seen for TrapJaw has wonky eyes just like how the copy I had delivered as part of the sub. So far, both of the figures I received as part of the Club Grayskull Subscription have had crossed eyes and I really hope this isn't going to be a trend that continues with the rest of the figures in this sub.
In the beginning of MOTUC it was a rarity for me to get a figure delivered that had bad eye paint applied, but now it seems like the norm for them to be painted on poorly and the rarity is getting one with good painted eyes.

I actually like the animated head better with the square-ish jaw.

If I haven't gotten my He-Man yet, does that mean someone stole it off my porch?!? Dookie.

  18. darthschroeder's Avatar darthschroeder says

    06-22-2016, 05:46 AM

My only gripe with Skeletor is that I was expecting the right wrist joint to be like the one He-Man had, but instead it swivels in the opposite direction. If it had that joint, it would be able to point the Havoc Staff as if he was firing magic blasts out of the skull.

Love the looks of these animation accurate figures. Unfortunately, a few years ago I had an epic battle between the MOTUC He-Man, Skeletor, and Battlecat and Masterpiece Optimus Prime and Starscream on what line to collect... I chose to collect Transformers.

Loving these galleries, however. Even though I will never hold these figures in my hands, at least I get to enjoy the look of these figures. Fantastic photography!

First off, thanks! And yeah, I hear you with the choices. I was same way, skipped most of primary MOTUC. But I've branched out since then in what I collect and this was a perfect jump on point. And they're awesome pieces period!
