Mattel Takes Over Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Toy License

Posted on July 20, 2016 at 10:05 am by Joe Moore under General Toy News

A new report from Variety reveals that Hasbro is no longer the master toy licensor for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World toys. Mattel is taking over after Hasbro and Universal could not agree on new terms. Here’s a snippet from Variety:

“We are honored that NBCUniversal chose Mattel to help bring the Jurassic World brand to life, and we look forward to developing multiple new lines of innovative, engaging toys and products,” said Chris Sinclair, Mattel’s Chairman and CEO. “Spanning three decades of sustained worldwide popularity, few entertainment properties have so successfully captured the collective imagination of millions of fans around the world, and we are delighted to be a part of this truly evergreen franchise.”

Mattel’s license rights for the “Jurassic World” franchise include action figures, play-sets, vehicles, games, plush, role-play, preschool, and activity toys. It said initial products will be hitting shelves in early 2018.

Good, maybe now the toys will be better than the current release.

Doubtful, although hasbro dropped the ball on the toys Mattels DC offerings are spectacular failures and shelfwarmed through out their entire run. There is a reason Disney has been pulling their properties away from Mattel.

Hasbro dropped the ball on Jurassic Park, Mattel will bury it.

Maybe if the source material were any good, it would help increase sales.

Hopefully we can get a decent 3.75" Pratt for MCU Starlord customs.

Ok, I'm tenatively optimistic here. I'd like to see maybe some Jurassic Series "Movie Masters" with each wave corresponding to each of the movies with the BAF (or Collect and Connect) Figure being a large dinosaur.
So a mix of human figures (Grant, Malcom, Owen, Claire) mixed in with human sized dinos (Raptors, Dilo, Pteros)
    Wave 1- JP: BAF Rexy
Wave 2- LW: BAF Repaint Rexy
    Wave 3- JP3: BAF Spino
    Wave 4- JW: BAF Indominus

I know there's no friggin way they would do this but I can dream can't I?

Mattel actually made quite good Halo action figures. The thing is when companies see that people aren't willing to buy their products under any circumstances, they have two options; either the company improve the products or in this case lose the license . Mattel had to put effort in their Halo line, because they knew Halo fans have standards and won't buy every chunk of plastic with the Halo name on it and the same goes to Jurassic Park fans. Unlike DC fans which hopefully will learn the lesson and finally make Mattel lose their useless DC license. I am sure the Jurassic Park line from Mattel will be better, but I doubt it will be great. I think it will only be slightly better and probably will lack painting.

What a load of bull, blaming DC and the fans for Mattel's half-assedness.
