Also, NECA has released an FAQ for picking up and ordering San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusives. Unfortunately, due to strict licensing restrictions this year, none of the exclusives will be available outside of physical pick up at SDCC 2016. Read the FAQ by Clicking Here.
Pre-Orders Up For NECA Newt and Stealth Predator SDCC 2016 Exclusives
So now all of NECA'S SDCC offerings are convention only with no other methods of picking up? If so, that's highly disappointing.
NECA has said that they will make Newt and the Predator available on their website for non-attendees.
Is this for sure? Any idea if it's going to be the same for the turtles?
Unfortunately, things may be looking bleak. Via NECA:
They must have an idea how well these things sell at the cons by now, plus how well, say, a human fig in the Alien line does at retail. Could it really be that difficult to work out how many they need to keep fans happy with all the previous information?
Companies always talk about eBay scalpers but they're inadvertently keeping them in business.
Exclusives suck balls, and especially when it's something that somewhat completes a collection like Newt, or the fact that we kinda already have that Scar figure!
Neca is really dropping the ball hard on these. I really want Newt and the TMNT sets but I am never paying what these will be going for on eBay...
NECA SDCC2016 Ninja Turtles Pre-Order Info and Con Exclusives FAQ - The Toyark - News
neca finally makes something worthwhile and noone will ever see them
Those actually look kind of cool. I do wish they would rerelease the original comic versions though and repaint that Shredder and Foot Soldier to match the comics.
That's the very height of bullshit. I could have sworn they said previously that they would be making them available to non-attendees as well. I'm usually the first to defend NECA when the fanboys start bitching about something, but I can't defend this. This is a dick movie, plain and simple.
Thanks to NECA, its looking like the only way to get Newt is to A) spend a fortune by going to SDCC, or B) spend a fortune on Ebay. Either option sucks.
get ready to pay through the nose on ebay
Randy is saying he has a plan in place for Newt. But that's the only one. I'm not sure what that means. Maybe a different release with Newt, but it doesn't sound like this exact SDCC Newt will be available otherwise.
I was hoping to be able to snag a SDCC ticket off eBay since I didn't know I'd be living there when the tickets went on sale, but damn they're like $200 a day at least on eBay.
And even if I did it says specifically on their order page that your SDCC badge must match your ID, so I couldn't even pick these up if I wanted to since I'd have to buy someone else's SDCC badge.
Yup, NECA had previously said the following:
"As in the past we always set aside a limited amount for online sale for those unable to attend SDCC in person. This will take place again this year and more details will be announced on this in the coming weeks!"
Uh-huh. Well, I guess I can live without Newt.
*EDIT* Actually, as of right now, the Newt pre-orders on Ebay aren't TOO insane...YET. If one were so inclined, they could acquire Newt as of now for $58.99 w/free shipping...which is a hell of a lot cheaper than what they would have spent if they had actually gone to SDCC, gotten a hotel, etc.
Still more than I'm willing to spend, but for the hardcore people who just HAVE to have Newt, I can see them going for it.
This should be called discrimination!
At first I was mad, then I realized something... If Nickelodeon/Viacom doesn't want my money via licensing fees of respectable collectibles companies like Neca, then I will give my money to third party outfits like First Gokin. I'll be getting their Krang on friday, and will preorder their shredder as soon as it's available. Would I prefer a kick-arse official Shredder? sure. No hate of Viacom. I'll still enjoy the movies and cartoons.
Turtles are already up on E-Bay and the prices are not bad
It's a bad day when a collector starts to wish an item had never been produced in the first place, isn't it?
It's a real kick in the balls for me as someone who buys NECA stuff around it's release date and has spent over a grand buying previous releases!
At the very least couldn't they stagger the release date between con and retail? Even by a year? I mean that's actually giving exclusivity more credit than it's fucking due, but...
Presumably the IP holder has stipulated all this nonsense, so why can't they see the benefit of a proper release when they're clearly making money from NECA's Predator line, for instance?
Just so nobody assumes I'm ignorant of the facts or something, I get that there would be a difference in negotiations over Scar and Newt because of likeness rights and so on and so on...
exclusives just show that companies don't care about fans at all
I really do hope that they find a way to release some version of her outside of the con. And, hopefully, this causes enough backlash that in the future con exclusives will just be repaints.
Re: con exclusives should be repaints, yes yes yes. That way if you can't get one you aren't totally missing out on something entirely unique and special.
