New Star Wars Black Series Droids 3-Pack Revealed

Posted on May 17, 2016 at 9:29 am by Joe Moore under Star Wars Toy News

A new Star Wars Black Series 6″ Scale Astromech Droids 3-Pack has been revealed. The images, via Jedi Temple Archives, shows off a great looking new box set. It contains:

  • R2-A3
  • R5-K6
  • R2-F2

The box set is apparently an exclusive, but we’re not sure who will carry it at the moment. See the set by clicking the thumbnail.

No. Hopefully soon now that the mold is done.

Yeah, it's odd they'd do this deco before the normal one. If anything if they'd release R5-D4 in this they'd get more people to buy it, but I guess that'd also be dickish of them.

It so bugs me that they have yet to solicit those figures because Revan is right at the top of my current want list. Hasbro should make him at least two per case but they've been horrible about distribution in the past and present.

What about the fact we have not gotten a Cloud City Lando?? Classic 3PO (w/ removable limbs)??, Obi-Wan?? Han in Jacket?? Hoth Leia???

Don't get me wrong, I love the line, but there are some gaping holes in it.

And I know some people don't care for the Prequel films, but I want a Mace, epII Obi Wan, Count Dooku, A general Grievous, and some of the Jedi Council members.

Well, I'd buy a discounted BS6" Jar-Jar, just to pose him in front of a clone troopers firing squad!!

This raise a question about a key issue in the PT : Who is the worst, EP.1 Jar-Jar or EP.2 C3-PO?

Padme is needed to complete the PT main cast, she should be a priority before another Obi Wan. Once they get her out of the way then I'd love to see Mace Windu and Shaak ti.

I'm going to get these droids if I can, its good to finally see one that has some new parts not just a repaint.

I think they just need to make a R2-D2 and C-3PO two pack, not store exclusive or anything, because R2 was only in the first wave and those got gobbled up pretty quickly in my area. I would prefer an Empire Lando but would just as well take General Lando from Jedi. An AOTC Obi-Wan would probably do exactly what the ROTS one did and peg-warm hard. So far I have been able to uphold my no PT figures rule but Mace Windu or Qui Gon Jinn would break that rule. While Grievous still looks cool I can't get over how much of a wasted punk he was in the movie. At least in the original Clone Wars cartoon shorts he was one BMF who could take on multiple Jedi at once and win but then in the new Clone Wars he was a Saturday morning cartoon villain who routinely lost and had to run away. Mace Windu wasn't kidding when he called the guy a coward.

Are they going to make any more deluxe packs? Or did those just not do well enough so they gave up hope?

I'm usually not a fan of 2 or 3 pack, but I would make an exception for an Inquisitors boxed set, specially now that Ahsoka & Kanan are out.

My problem with multipacks can be that I really want one figure in the pack but none of the others, even when there's only two figures in the pack if I only really want the one it can be annoying. What I was talking about when I said deluxe packs was like the Han Solo and Tauntaun, Luke with Wampa, Scout with speeder bike, or Jabba deluxe figures. I know that the first wave of deluxe figures (Jabba and the speeder/scout) didn't sell that well until they were heavily discounted but it seemed like the Han/Tauntaun and Luke/Wampa packs sold decently enough. I dunno what else I'd even really want from sets like that but it feels like they could still make more.

Maybe Hasbro could take cues from the old Kenner line. Why not a Snowtrooper w/ tripod cannon (ESB) & stuff like that.
It's surprising there's no Ewoks in the 6" line so far, but a pack w/ catapult or glider is possible as well. Just throwing some ideas..

A Snowtrooper with the cannon would be pretty cool, and maybe they could make it the officer version instead just to be different from the upcoming figure. An Imperial probe droid with Chewie would be cool, or maybe a Hoth rebel soldier with one of those sonar dish turrets. I'm indifferent to the Ewoks (I just don't like them) but a Jawa pack would be neat.
