For Friday The 13th, NECA shared a photo of a brand new Hockey Mask. No additional info. The interesting thing is that it’s not clear who this mask actually belongs to. At first glance, it looks like the vintage Cooper Goalie Mask from the poster/promo mask seen in Friday The 13th Part 5: A New Beginning marketing. However, the mask has additional paint across it (may just be clay upon further inspection), which doesn’t seem to go with any iteration of Jason Voorhees.
The mask itself, though, could be from other properties. The mask may point towards a different license all together! The mask bears a striking resemblance to the one worn by Lord Humngus from Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (Highly Unlikely). It also has a passing resemblance to the final boss, the Masked Warrior, of the video game Pit Fighter. This specific mask has been used in a ton of different things.
We’ll have to wait and see. For now, speculate away.
NECA Shows A New Hockey Mask, But Who Is It?
How great would proper Mad Max figures be? Won't hold my breath though.
Yeah, I guess the fact that today is Friday the 13th makes it extremely unlikely that it's Humongus. So I don't want to get my hopes up.
doesn't look like paint to me, it looks like some sort of sculpting material.
I will say, though, I kind of hope it's not simply for a Roy figure. I hate the 5th movie so, so much. Plus there are other Friday the 13th films far more deserving of the Ultimate treatment, if that's what this is.
I really wish they would get the license for Mad Max: Fury Road. Those characters are ripe for figures.
Man, I have no idea what it could be...that was a great catch, noting it looked like the mask from the Part 5 poster (I noticed that too), and it's also spot-on for Lord Humongus (but we know it's likely not that).
There was a a short-lived slasher series released in the early 2000's called Bloody Murder (which sucked ass) with a killer called Trevor Moorehouse who was essentially a Jason rip-off, but after Googling his image the hockey mask he wore doesn't look anything like the one NECA posted. So, skip that theory (and why would they make a figure out of that loser, anyway?).
Plus, is has an actress whose real name is actually Debi-Sue Voorhees with the best knockers in the history of the entire series.
The moment I first saw the mask I thought "could it be? The warrior of the wasteland! The ayatollah of rock and rolla! The Lord Humungus?!" Then I regained my senses and remembered that seemingly nobody gets to do Mad Max. Theory: unless NECA has been holding out information from us!
It's either Clark Griswold or an accessory pack for F13th IMO. Part V was made, and I don't think an Ultimate Roy is coming. I could be wrong though, he gets more love in the franchise as time goes on.
Splatterhouse maybe?? Or Clark Griswold?? That would be amazing. Or maybe a concept Jason, something they have been starting with the Aliens line
I would so grab a Clark Griswold. That would easily top Home Alone for surprise Christmas release.
On a related subject, do we know if NECA has any plan for a Jason X figure? The old McFarlane one is very pricey on the secondary market.
Miller is a moron for denying licensing rights for a high quality action figure line... it would bring more attention and revenue to the franchise and make so many fans happy. I mean he obviously approved the videogame licence.... kind of a slap in the face.
Fury Road was kind of overrated imo. Sure the action was great but the plot was pretty dull. Tom Hardy didn't really feel like Max to me...
But there was a line of Road Warrior figures back in the day...albeit shitty ones.
*Inserts shameless cosplay plug....

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!
HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH!
Not as impressive but hey it's the same look and it's an awesome figure. Loose hips don't sink ships, at least not this boat.
I guess I'll get in on the action. This is my Jason collection submission photo for that contest NECA ran a few months ago.

Not sure why they would do a Pt.5 cover mask. The mask is only on the cover and never used on Jason. So is this a 1:1 mask like they've done in the past (resin) or a simple Friday the 13th 'doodle' for today? But why the Cooper?

Teaser indeed. I'm thinking it's just something for today but could also mean a different franchise all together (Mad Max) .... 2 birds, 1 stone.
Anyway .... "Happy Friday the 13th"
