Kanan Jarrus – Star Wars Black Series Gallery

Posted on May 2, 2016 at 1:45 pm by Tony_Bacala under Random Photo Shoot, Star Wars Toy News

Star Wars Black Series galleries continue today here at Toyark.com with 2016 Wave 2 Kanan Jarrus! Kanan is a 6 Inch Black Series rendition of the character from the ongoing Star Wars Rebels cartoon on Disney XD. He doesn’t keep the stylized look of the show though, he has been re-imagined in the look and feel of the Black Series line so far. He comes with a blaster, his unique 2 piece lightsaber and a pony tail ready to kick some Stormtrooper tail! Let’s take a closer look after the break courtesy of Dorksidetoys!

Star Wars Black Series 6 Inch Star Wars Rebels Kanan Jarrus

Pros
Great color and detail
Paint apps plenty and well done
Holds a pose well

Cons
None

Overall
Kanan is one of the best Black Series figures to come out since the first couple waves of the line. He features a sturdy base, intricate molding details, paint and weathering. The face sculpt can only be compared to the cartoon so it’s easy not to run into comparisons for realistic accuracy. That being said, it’s well done and fits in the line. The two piece lightsaber comes apart and fits on the belt in two places like the show. His early rebellion logo on the shoulder is painted on as if he did it himself. I dig the show and am glad they’ve repped it here in Black Series. I hope the quality and attention to detail on this figure and his wave mate Ahsoka continue to show up down the line.

Hux actually looks pretty decent. Head sculpt is ok, but overall nice Empire-esque officer.

Considering some of the other hit and miss human head sculpts, Hux does have a pretty decent likeness to Domhnall Gleeson. I like this toy enough that now the idea of maybe a Tarkin sounds appealing. I liked Hux in the movie a lot more than I initially anticipated, I expected him to be more one and done like Tarkin. I really liked how SPOILER ALERT he and Kylo were basically in a pissing match for Snoke's favor. Hux knew he could never truly be the favorite so he straight up tattled on Kylo at one point! SPOILERS END

That headsculpt bears little resemblance to the actor. Baffling

I wish they had cast Rey's head in that plastic, it would have been the right colour. Ironically Hux looks like he could benefit from some paint to bring out the sculpt.

Yeah just casting the head in skin tone plastic kinda takes away from the sculpt on Hux. I think it looks pretty good in hand considering this is still Hasbro. When I look at it I have no problems identifying this as both General Hux and Domhnall Gleeson.

I feel like in picture 22 Kylo Ren is about to start a sprint against some of the troopers and Hux is holding up the starter pistol. This looks like another cool troop builder for those who want to fill ranks but I feel like for me just having the officer will be fine.

MILD SPOILER ALERT Maybe I just didn't look enough but I hardly saw any snowtroopers in the movie that weren't officers. Like at the big Hux speech scene there are a couple of officers notable who can be seen standing with the leader-people of the First Order but I had a less than easy time clearly spotting a non-officer snowtrooper but I'm pretty sure there were some in the crowd. I have found images of what I gather to be a deleted scene where some go into the Millennium Falcon but as I noted this scene was clearly cut from the final film much like Zuvio I gather. END OF SPOILERS

The original snowtrooper was one of my favorite trooper types, and the First Order version is really starting to grow on me a lot. I definitely prefer the regular version, I can imagine setting a couple up in the snow for some great shots.

I soooo want a 6" ESB snowtrooper. I think the First Order snowtrooepr appeals to me a lot for being so heavily based on the McQuarrie concept of old.

This is why I hate exclusive figures, they should have died off after Walmart's Avengers 2012 line. Instead of making two Snowtroopers (SPOILER who were hardly a part of the film), Hasbro could have just made the Commander version and filled that spot with a more interesting figure like a Flametrooper or Leia. It's not like we couldn't buy more Commanders and take the pauldron off.

There's no way they wouldn't have released both version to be fair. If we got a regular release of the officer, we would've just gotten a normal one in a few waves. It's Hasbro's way.

That would be so awesome. And I really need to take a look at those old designs again. Cause I love all the First Order designs, especially the regular trooper.

True. That's why we get peg warming Constable Zuvios and Guavian Enforcers when there could have been Flametroopers and even single pack TRAITOR Stormtroopers. At least the riot gear is more unique than a pauldron.

Man I really don't want to have to buy that Poe figure to get good ol' TR-8R. It's a nice enough figure, but Poe's character did nothing for me.

I don't think it's spoiler territory to say that Poe was the least developed of the new leads. Personally I liked him but he could have been used a lot more.

Well that's because they killed him in the Tie Fighter crash, then realised he was a great character and had to add some bullshit reason how he survived, to have him suddenly appear with the Resistance.

That's not true. They were going to kill him off, but decided against it while the script was being written, it wasn't some last minute change.

    Fantastic pictures.
I wasn't planning on getting Hux, but I like the overall quality of the figure and the likeness is okay-ish? Crap, I wasn't planning on getting any of these, but seeing them here is weakening my resolve.
I picked up jacket Poe for the sole reason of swapping his head with pilot suit Poe. Many of the earlier sculpts are pretty terrible, but if these later releases are at all indicative of the rise in quality...

I liked Poe a lot, partly because he was played by Oscar Isaac and then he was also like a sorta fusion of Han and Luke in spirit. I'd really like him to play a bigger part of the main story in the next film.

I would have liked a bit more explanation than they gave us about his return, they just brushed it off too easily.
