A new Friday The 13th Part 3 – Jason Voorhees Sixth Scale Figure has been revealed by Sideshow Collectibles. They posted up a teaser photo, announcing the new release. The fully articulated 12″ scale Jason Voorhees figure will include a cloth outfit, a bloody axe, his trademark hockey mask and more.
Pre-orders are scheduled to go live on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Expect a full Sideshow gallery early next week. We’ll update when more photos and info is released. See the teaser by clicking the image above.
Friday The 13th Part 3 Jason Voorhees Sixth Scale Figure Preview

This is amazing. Along with the neca 1\4 Freddy, I couldn't be more thrilled for new products for the licenses.
I would really prefer it was ThreeZero doing this. Sideshow's sketchy quality at their current prices will most likely make it a pass.
The shape of the mask already looks off...but since it's been a while since Sideshow has done one of these, I'll be keeping a close eye on this in hopes the final product looks better. Their last Jason statue, while it had a cool looking base, was a big let down as they took liberties all over the place with Jason's look.
I really wish Hot Toys would snag this license somehow, but even they're not hitting all home runs as of late. Their recent Xenomorph unveiling was a big disappointment, and the Black Panther figure was a bit too rubbery looking as well.

Wait, this is an actual figure, NOT a statue? It actually moves?? All this time I thought this thing was a statue, unless they're also releasing one of those as well and I'm getting the two confused.
Anyway, this thing looks amazing, but $209.99? That's waaaay steep. Sideshow is officially entering the Hot toys price range now.

The mask still looks off, but I'll be picking this up, as the rest of the figure looks dead on. There are plenty of places out there where you can get a more accurate mask, so it's not a deal breaker. Can't wait until Friday to pre-order this thing!

They're going really light on the accessories, given the price point. Their old-school 1/6 Jasons sold for, like, $50-$60 and came with tons of accessories. Granted, that was years ago, but...
Shit man, blast from the past. I remember how coveted the original was. I wonder if they will re-do all of them.
I would love love love a new Part 6 Jason.

What bothers me the most about Sideshow Jason items (aside from the original 12" figures) is that they are very inaccurate. Take this one for example. The mask is way too warn out looking. He gets a fresh mask from Shelly after he kills him. No reason to age the mask that way, as he just got it. The hump on his back also seems absent or minimal.
Even the statues they've made ("The terror of Crystal Lake") wasn't based on any version. Rather an original piece made by Sideshow. Kind of sounds cool, but they gave him a tiny head. Nothing has surpassed the original releases, but they want us to pay quadruple?

Although, the original Part 2 Sackhead Jason was embarrassingly innacurate.
A little late in posting this, as my figure arrived a week ago, but seeing as we just barely dodged a Friday the 13th this past week, I figured better late than never...

As for the figure itself, I have some mixed feelings about it, but outside getting a custom, this is definitely the definitive version of Jason, and the best one out there that one can pick up. As an owner of many of the Sideshow figures before it, I can be very unbiased and confident in saying it. Before I even start talking about it though, I should mention that the lighting in the photos gives his overshirt a brown appearance, but in fact, the shirt really is a lighter olive green with a brown tint to it in warmer lighting.
The body is well sculpted, and while the hump on his back is less pronounced than in previous figures and the films, it is there, and is fairly seamless with the rest of the body unlike previous versions where it was clearly a glued on piece seperate from the torso. The clothing was well stitched (except for the top button of his overshirt, which I had to re-inforce with my own needle and thread) and the painted details on them are nice, especially on the white undershirt that Jason is wearing, which has a sweaty and dirty fade to it. I'm tempted to display this figure with the overshirt unbuttoned, just so I can show it off...
The boots and body are well sculpted and painted, with a great dirty grit to the boots, and some nice details on the flesh tone. The only areas where it is lacking is in the bloody details. The initial production shots showed a fair amount of blood splatter on the figure's clothing, weapons, boots, and hands, but it has been scaled back quite a bit for the final release, and I honestly have no idea why. I have the exclusive version of the figure as well, so it's not like I received a lesser version of the widescale release either. I may end up adding that blood splatter on my own, once I can figure out how to properly do it without ruining the figure...
The articulation is about what one would expect from most 1/6 scale figures from Hot Toys or Sideshow, so there are no surprises there, and the figure is able to strike a fair amount of cool and iconic poses. My only gripe with the articulation is that the shirt fits a bit tighter on the figure than I would like, which hinders it a bit, but the leg, torso and head articulation are otherwise very well done. There's fun to be had fooling around with this guy.
And on a final note...the mask. It's smaller than the actual mask Jason wore for part three, but I've accepted this figure as a more modern, stylized version of the classic part three look and I've moved on from it. Also, THERE IS an actual, detailed face sculpt of Jason beneath the mask, but for some reason, Sideshow decided to glue the mask onto the head. If you're brave enough, and are willing to touch it up with a little paint, the mask can be removed to expose the face of the madman to the world for all to see. I'm fine with it being the way it is, so I won't be removing mine, but there are plenty of videos and pics now on YouTube and Google showing off the headsculpt, which I think is rather good, so if you're curious as to what it looks like, you can have a look there and decide for yourself.
All an all...if you're a hardcore fan of the figure, and can handle the updated look, I highly recommend the guy. Despite my gripes, he's pretty amazing, and was well worth the wait. Here's to hoping we get a few more Jason figures like this in the near future!
From the photos I've seen everyone posting of this, I'm kinda glad I passed. The lack of accessories, limited interchangeable parts, no removable mask (the final straw), the oddly super clean looking clothes and the high price point just don't mesh for me.
