Gotham Select Series 2 Gallery

Posted on March 30, 2016 at 4:14 pm by Tony_Bacala under DC Toy News, Random Photo Shoot

Gotham just got renewed for a 3rd Season on Fox here in the States and is working it’s way through the early story of Bruce Wayne and his villains. Diamond Select Toys is also continuing their run of 7 Inch Gotham Select figures to celebrate that. Series 2 gives us Edward Nygma, Harvey Bullock and Alfred Pennyworth, each with a dio environment prop straight from the show. We have them all in hand so let’s take a look after the break!

Edit – updated with some additional pics!

Gotham Select Edward Nygma
Gotham Select Alfred Pennyworth
Gotham Select Harvey Bullock

Overall
Overall Series 2 figures are better executed than Series 1. Each are solid, non-exact representations of their characters on screen. Nygma’s face sculpt is the closest, really capturing actor Cory Michael Smith’s essence. Harvey’s overall sculpt and paint captures the detectives feel even if the face is not dead on. Alfred, same thing. Construction on the figures is good, all joints move well, articulation is above average, especially for plain clothes figures. All are dense, quality feeling plastic. The accessories are on point again, getting a 7 inch scale office desk, a fireplace backdrop, and another piece to the alleyway scene. These are all things that could easily swap into other setups with other figures, and are awesome additions. Series 3 is already set and will continue to build on these environments.

Check out some shots below, full set after that. Gotham Select Series 2 is in stores now at your local comic shop or online retailer.

I don't enjoy the show Gotham much, but the dioramas these figures come with are great. I might buy a few of these soon.

I'm genuinely impressed by how fantastic these look. Especially compared to series 1.

Somebody asked on twitter about that, and apparently the dumpster will be coming with Zsasz instead. I wish they had substituted something else in, as Bullock's base looks kind of plain compared to Gordon's.

I love the show but the characters are pretty much normal people the likenesses aren't that great if you are making a character that is just a normal person not a superhero in a suit the likeness is the most important thing.

Then what the hell was going on? SOme reviewers had the dumpster and others did not.

That is lame though. I no longer see a reason to buy Bullock as the dumpster was the reason I was planning to buy him.

I'm with the peeps saying that the show sucks, I get what they're trying to do, but it's just not working for me...

The only good part of the show is seeing Kid Wayne and Selena, this latest episode though with the Penguin's dad and so forth just seems stupid and putting Gordon in jail for only one episode come on...and it was cool seeing Hugo Strange though. But with the other super hero shows that are out there, this one is dead last to be watched IMO.

The diorama's are pretty cool though, probably reason they throw them in there because obviously you just have normal folks in clothes

That's a cool display. Once I obtain the Gotham figures, I think I'll put the Mezco One:12 Batman in the diorama.
How sturdy is the fire escape?

These diorama pieces are some of the best. I can't wait for the Arkham Asylum sign.

Regarding Gotham, I generally enjoy the show. It's definitely NOT for DC/Batman fanboys. I like it for what it is, a campy/corny alternate Earth retelling of the Batman mythos.

This is true for sure. As soon as I read (back before the show had even actually started) that Harvey Dent would be in it as an adult I immediately entered fanboy mode and said "wtf?" Bruce is still only a kid, not even a teenager, and Harvey's at least a decade older than him. On its own this age difference wouldn't seem so wrong as you could have a twenty-something Batman and a late-thirties/early-forties Dent working together, except it is generally accepted that Bruce and Harvey had a friendship outside of crime-fighting (the degree to which may vary based on the version) and it's easier to picture them as friends if they're within the same decade.

He'll glide down from the rooftops and be all like "freeze right there Riddler! I solved all of your puzzles and now you're going back to Arkham!" And the Riddler will immediately stop moving where he stands. Batman will feel empowered and scary until he realizes it wasn't his intimidating presence which stopped the Riddler but rather a highly damaging stroke brought on by old age, stress, and poor health choices. Mr Freeze will just be that guy in the old-folks wing who heavily monitors the thermostat...

I wish there wasn't all this embargo crap and they could just do a plain, straightforward Batman show, as well as a Superman show. Call me greedy because we're already getting them in the movies, but there hasn't been a live action Superman show since the 90s and there hasn't been a live action Batman show since the 60s. Bear in mind, I'm not counting costumeless origin shows or shows focusing on either character's supporting characters.

I wanted Edward Nygma to customize into the Riddler. I couldn't find the basic TRU edition, so I bought the deluxe version online. The day before it arrived, I found the TRU edition on clearance. Now I don't know which of my two Nygmas to open.
