Check out a new photo of the upcoming Batman Begins – 1/4 Scale Batman Figure by NECA. They released a new photo of the final production figure, showcasing some of the articulation. This Batman figure is scheduled to hit in May 2016. The over 18″ tall figure will have over 20 points of articulations, including double jointed elbows and knees. It will include multiple interchangeable hands, a detonator, a sonar communicator, multiple Batarangs and a grapnel gun.

We’ll have a full review of the Batman Begins – Batman 1/4 Scale Figure when it is released. Check out the new photo by clicking the image above.

From NECA? Unfortunately not. Would love to see it myself. The licenses for those scales belong to Mattel and DC Collectibles. The 7" movie color Keaton was a one off, unfortunately.

Except that we did get a Ledger Joker 7 inch scale and a tv series Batman in 7 scale, so not a one off. Not to mention Superman.

Warner Bros had those made, it doesn't matter what Mattel or DC Collectibles thinks, Warner Bros owns Batman, hell it owns DC Collectibles too.

You're responding to a near 8 month old post there, well before we knew about the second promo releases.

Randy has explained that these are special deals with WB for cross promotional items. It's not something they can just make and he explained they have no current deal in place to make more. See below:

I'm not the only one replied too your post. Sorry I didn't notice the time stamp, I just clicked the article you posted. You still posted that though and the fact that more figures came out showed that you weren't accurate so what I said still holds true.

Those releases were by Warner Bros, so if Warner Bros decides to make it, it'll happen. The others sold great, there is no reason why they wouldn't make more.

It mainly falls on the fact that Mattel holds a contract giving them "master toy rights" or some such term. As long as that contract holds then WB can't give NECA permission to regularly make 7" DC toys or Mattel would be able to take legal action against them for betraying the contract. The NECA figures were produced as "incentives" meant to be sold with DVDs, it was essentially TRU's decision to sell them as individual items anyway. Mezco can make their one:12 figures because those cost so much they are not considered a threat to Mattel's profit in the area and DCC is part of DC itself but it's notable that they're only distributed to and sold by comic or specialty shops.

I know the reason they were able to sell the figures. My point is that they used that tactic to sell the other figures, so why stop there? If they want to sell this, it will happen. It sure got rid of alot of those dvds that were taking up space in warehouses. I imagine there are plenty of Batman Begins dvds still left.

If it worked the other 4 times, I don't see why it won't a 5th and a 6th. They did just fine throwing a dvd in the mix, Warner has plenty of dvds.

I highly doubt Mattel will ever take legal action upon Warner Bros. Number one reason being when the license deal is expired, Warner Bros would give it too someone else, someone who hasn't tried to sue them. Mattel isn't going to do anything. Warner also owns DC Collectibles and as far as I know, DC collectibles doesn't make movie figures.

Also, you say that Mezco can make their figures because they cost so much and aren't a threat, where are you getting this information? By that Logic, Neca could just do the same considering their figures usually cost more then an average retail figure don't don't sell even anywhere close to the volume as Mattel nor are they in as many locations.

It might not work a 5th and 6th time because WB just might not want to rework another promotion or short term relation again for whatever reason they choose.

Mattel wouldn't take legal action against WB they'd take it against NECA themselves (or maybe WB would sue NECA) as they would hold them as the party that erred in that scenario.

Randy himself has explained on Twitter that the master rights apply to everything DC. The one:12 figures are sitting with an msrp of around $50 or so whereas NECA's offerings end up right in the same msrp bracket as Mattel's DC figures (these last three were sold at Toys R Us for only $20, the same price as Mattel's 6" toys). This is why NECA can make a 1/4 scale of pretty much any DC character they have the likeness for because they cost so much more that Mattel doesn't care.

    02-10-2016, 06:55 AM

Master Toy Right, which Mattel holds for DC, sort of gives them the right of first refusal. With One:12 Collective stuff (which is now in the $70+ price point), those items aren't competing in the same market as Mattel's figures, aren't being sold by retail stores (TRU, Walmart, Target) which is why their license isn't a problem. NECA's license is only for 1/4 scale adult collectible figures as that doesn't compete with what Mattel (who doesn't do 1/4 scale) or Jakks (who do kids large scale figures) is doing.

Licensing is a complicated world and you can never just "do" something because you want to do it. The NECA 7" figures are special collaborations with three main components. Warner Bros, Warner Home Video and a retail partner. Those are Randy's own words. We know that it can happen, yes. But all the right pieces have to be in place.

Looks great, much better than the previously released images, but what I really want is a Q-Scale TDK Bats to go with my Q-Scale Ledger Joker. I liked that bat suite a lot better.

Here's are some other of my Q-Scale wishlist items:

    -Alien 3 Dog Xenomorph
-Alien accessory sets like facehuggers, chestbursters and eggs in Q-scale.
-Catwoman to go with the Keaton Batman & Devito Penguin!
-A Colonial Marine (or a few) to go with the '86 Aliens warriors.
-The Predators from the Predators film in Q-Scale
-Universal Monsters like The Gillman, Frankenstein, The Mummy, etc.
-Classic 1978 Battlestar Galactica Cylon (with gold variant)
    -Pumpkinhead (in proper Q-Scale)
-More Cenobites to go with the previously released Pinhead and two Chatterers!
-Arnold as T-800 to go with previously released Endoskeleton
    -Duke Nukem
-Space Marine from upcoming Doom game plus a few of the bad guys.
-2001: A Space Odyssey astronaut with monolith.
    -Mars Attacks aliens
-Planet of The Apes in Q-scale!
-The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers (hehe, yeah I wish!)

    ...

    I found this info: batman.wikia.com/wiki/Batsuit_%28Nolan_Films%29

    Quote:
The Batsuit is changed in the next film The Dark Knight. In this new design, the bodysuit is made of hardened kevlar plates on a titanium-dipped fiber and is broken into multiple pieces of armor over a more flexible bodysuit for greater mobility. The cowl of the Batsuit, which in previous film incarnations has been attached to the shoulder and neck, is now a separate component inspired by the design of motorcycle helmets, allowing the wearer to freely swivel and move his neck without moving the rest of his upper torso as was characteristic in all the previous cinematic versions of the Batsuit.
Looks a lot more high-tech and armored than the 1st one. Either way, no doubt it will be a great toy.
