QMx Star Trek Master Series 1/6th Scale Figures Update

Posted on February 26, 2016 at 8:20 pm by Tony_Bacala under Star Trek Toy News

Our friends over at Quantum Mechanix let us know some additional details about their upcoming Star Trek Master Series 1/6th scale Spock and Kirk figures. Both figures will be in stock and ready for shipping in July 2016 and will retail for $179.95. Each will receive an exclusive version with additional items via the Quantum Mechanix retail site.

Read on to check out all the fine details for each release!

Mr. Spock

A Most “Fascinating” One-Sixth Figure

Star Trek™ The Original Series celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and QMx is bringing everyone’s favorite Vulcan to Trek collectors everywhere!

The half-Vulcan/half-human, Mr. Spock was the First Officer of the starship Enterprise on its maiden voyage. This 1:6 figure recreates the iconic character in exquisite detail. Standing approximately 12 inches tall, every detail — from his 23rd century tunic to his pointy black shoes — was researched and overseen by Star Trek scholar Nanjin Tam.

• Fully Articulated Body: Over 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 30 cm tall.
• Realistic Portrait: Lovingly rendered by a top artist, this is a perfect likeness of Spock with realistic wrinkles and pointy ears. Each head sculpt is specially hand-painted.
• Starfleet Duty Uniform Tunic: Meticulously researched, this duty uniform tunic matches the pattern, fabric, and color of the original costume down to the last stitch. The sleeves are trimmed with accurate and detailed braid insignia.
• Starfleet Standard Issue Black T-shirt: This black t-shirt is a separate piece worn under the tunic.
• Starfleet Duty Uniform Pants: These are faithful replicas of the pants worn by the Enterprise crew in Star Trek™ The Original Series with the characteristic bell shaped pant leg. Metal plates sewn into the pants allow the magnetic phaser and communicator to be worn without the belt.
• Boots: Using leather-like material cut in the original style of the footwear worn in Star Trek™ The Original Series, these boots zip up on the inner side.
• Phaser Type 2/ Type 1: The pistol-grip Type 2 phaser is the weapon of choice for any landing party expecting hostile aliens. The smaller Type 1 phaser can be removed and used separately. Both have magnets allowing either to be worn on the utility belt or directly on the pants as they were in the third season.
• Communicator: This accurately styled communicator features a real metal flip-up antenna.
• Tricorder: No self-respecting Science Officer would be without his personal data-sensing, analysis, and recording device. This replica rotates open at the top and has an opening front door. Mr. Spock can wear the tricorder over his shoulder with the leather-like strap.
• Utility Belt: Used in the first season of Star Trek™ The Original Series by landing parties to hold their accessories, this cloth belt has metal plates allowing the magnetized phaser and communicator to be worn as they were on the show.

Each figure comes with multiple hands for various Trek-like activities:

• Right Phaser 2 Hand: Perfectly holds the pistol grip Type 2 Phaser.
• Right Phaser 1 Hand: Allows for the small Type 1 Phaser to be held for accurate aiming.
• Left Communicator Hand: Holds the communicator to request speedy beam ups.
• Left Holding Hand: Sized to hold the tricorder.
• Right Vulcan Salute Hand: A typical Vulcan greeting and farewell is the phrase “Live Long and Prosper” accompanied by this hand gesture.
• Left Vulcan Nerve Pinch Hand: Spock can subdue misbehaving aliens with a carefully applied pinch to the neck.
• Left Vulcan Mind Meld Hand: A Vulcan can initiate a telepathic link with another person through a “mind meld” which involves placing their hand on the subject in a certain way.
• Star Trek Delta Symbol Display Base: A custom display base featuring the familiar Star Trek “delta” symbol will hold up the figure and allow more extreme poses.

QMx-Direct Exclusive

• Vulcan Lute: Spock would spend his rare down time playing the Vulcan lute, also known as the Vulcan harp or Vulcan lyre, this stringed instrument was a popular form of entertainment on Spock’s home planet.

Captain Kirk

To Boldly Go Where No One-Sixth Figure Has Gone Before

Star Trek™ The Original Series celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and to celebrate, QMx is bringing everyone’s favorite captain to Trek collectors everywhere!

The most notorious Starfleet captain in Federation history, James Tiberius Kirk, commanded the starship Enterprise on its original voyage. This 1:6 figure recreates the iconic character in exquisite detail. Standing approximately 12 inches tall, every detail — from his 23rd century tunic to his pointy black shoes — was researched and overseen by Star Trek scholar Nanjin Tam.

• Fully Articulated Body: Over 30 points of articulation allow the figure to be displayed in multiple dynamic poses, approximately 29 cm tall.
• Realistic Portrait: Lovingly rendered by a top artist, this is a perfect likeness to James T. Kirk with realistic wrinkles and skin texture.
• Electronic Clipboard & Stylus: An Original Series precursor to the ubiquitous Star Trek™ The Next Generation PADD, starship captains apparently had to sign a lot of forms as Kirk was always being handed one of these clipboards.

• Left Holding Hand: Sized to hold Kirk’s electronic clipboard
• Right Karate Chop Hand: For disabling misbehaving aliens with a quick blow to the back of the neck.
• Right Pointing Hand: When Kirk needs to make an emphatic point.
• Star Trek Delta Symbol Display Base: A custom display base featuring the familiar Star Trek “delta” symbol will hold up the figure and allow more extreme poses.

QMx-Direct Exclusive will include:

• Phaser Rifle: Sometimes a hand phaser isn’t enough so Kirk needs a “really big gun.” Although used infrequently in Star Trek™ The Original Series, this type 3 phaser is a must have when one of your crewmembers turns into a telepathic psychopath.

Those Spock and Kirk figures are absolutely amazing. Will they be available through regular online retailers? Hope the price isn't astronomical.

I don't know where they're getting that orange undershirt for Kirk and Spock. Also I'd like to see McCoy instead of just Kirk and Spock again. They should be available online like Mal was but you're looking at $200 or more.

I might pay $200 if it includes international shipping.

Strange caption on the placard: "Ready to come in peace and shoot to kill."

Reminds me of foreign policy in the Middle East.

That Kirk likeness is pretty damn good, and light years beyond the crap Mezco One Kirk recently revealed. I still insist that figure looks nothing even remotely like William Shatner.

Those Supernatural figures have me interested.

    Same here !

The likenesses leave a little to be desired, but at $25, it's hard to be overly critical.
Supernatural merchandise is SOOO hard to come across, so despite the questionable likenesses, I really think that I may be picking these up.

Yeah, I had planned on picking up the upcoming Mezco Kirk and Spock figures, but they really dropped the ball on the figure of Capt. Kirk, so I may be picking these up instead.
Well, actually, lol, I assume that they're going to be about $180, like the Mal Reynolds QMX figure, so I may or may not be getting these, considering there are SOOO many figures that I want coming out in 2016.

    WOW !
After seeing the new high-res photos of Kirk and Spock, I really think I need to start squirreling money away so that I can get both of these as soon as they become available !

Not bad, but Kirk coming with a tricorder and Spock not having one seems... odd.

Actually, those are belts they wore for a while in the series. Not something I would have expected a new figure of them to have, but it's a nice touch.

$180 is a lot less than I expected. Was fully prepared to see these at $230 each.

    EDIT:
And love some of the accessories they come with. Impressive showing for they're 3rd & 4th sixth scale figures.

I want that great Spock, but I'm staying on the sidelines for now in support of Axanar (see previous post).
