Way back in May of 2015 Bandai Tamashii Nations announced they’d be doing a S.H. Figuarts Hulkbuster to work with their 6 inch scale Age of Ultron figures. The larger scale ones were out of my budget but I NEEDED a metal painted version of this beast on my shelf,so I jumped right in. Fast forward 9 months later and the Japanese web exclusive version of the Iron Man Mark XLIV Hulkbuster is now in hand! We’ve done up over 100 shots of him in action, showing off what he can do after the break including an all out brawl with S.H. Figuarts Hulk! Read on to check it all out!
S.H. Figuarts Avengers Age of Ultron Iron Man Mark XLIV Hulkbuster
Heavy, lots of diecast/metal
not featured, no batteries here, couldn’t wait)
Rich candy coat paint
Great articulation (mostly)
Lights in eyes, chest, legs only. Not in hands.
Leg articulation is a bit limited.
Overall – a really fantastic piece. This guy on first glance looks expensive and heavy, and he is. If you are going to pay for a higher end piece, it should look like it the second you lay eyes on it. Picking him up changes nothing either. Weight, smooth joints, high gloss saturated paint. It’s like looking at a freshly detailed car glimmering in the sun. The sculpt is top notch, tons of cuts and grooves, and lots of fine paint applications are well applied to highlight those points. The only downside is slight limitation in the legs. He has a good knee bend, but outward and forward could use a little more range allowing for better running-like stances. He does however stand firm in the ranges he can do, those big heavy feet plant well. Can’t say enough, this and the SHF Hulk are two top of the line pieces and will be rocking my shelves for a long time to come. Check him out for yourself though below!
*Update – batteries are inside figure, come with them, I didn’t realize till after shoot was done. Will update with light shots later!
